Magnoliaa:Come, do you even know the difference between fighting for something more compared to fighting for it only? By the way, I noticed you had no NL topic/thread to reference. I suppose this means I was correct about NL ladies doing nothing else but drag out conversations about equality when it's about negative issues and not positive ones. 3 Likes |

doitforyou: Coming from the pea-brained nitwit who got in on a comment that was directed at me just to get in on the action, this is quite ironic - or have you begun developing short memory too? We wouldn't be doing all this if you had just read & pass. But now you're crying too, just like your friend... If you want to avoid being psychologically manipulated, the next time you see my moniker on a thread, you will think twice before quoting me or making any remark towards me on another comment, you idle twerp with multiple handles & personalities. 3 Likes |

crackhaus: Sighs... this is exhausting. Which one did you say? That women fight more for sexual liberation or women fight only for sexual liberation? See ehn, whichever one you said---the link I posted debunked it. I said: women fight in every area. And you're not right about a thing. You addressed WOMEN, now you're changing it to NL women. This is a large forum, with plenty women that have registered as far back as 2008, having 16,000+ posts, active in soooo many other sections. Do you know that women that advocate for equality are not among them? 2 Likes |

crackhaus: How did I miss this your 'submission' sef But don't you think that there are a whole lot of women who are trailblazers in their various sectors all around the world? Why is it that a group of women are being used to generalize and write off women as irresponsible? Why has no one opened a thread to celebrate women and their numerous achievements?? 4 Likes 2 Shares |

Magnoliaa:Just like the rest of you that try to come at my post without anything substantial than the fuel of emotions, you again seem to be stuck on the horns of a dilemma. Right in that comment which I reposted on this page & in the first paragraph, the simple English is there for even a slow reader to see...yet you're telling me your one link debunked my submission. Are you slow or something? Women fight in every area, you say. Where is your proof then? What are the names of the campaigns, who spearheaded them, where was it held, what year? For every one you mention, I will mention three others where the campaign was about nothing else but negative vices - if it isn't sexual expression, it's abortion. If it isn't how to walk around with boôbs hanging, it is how to talk loudly. I even tried to make it easier by telling you to redeem your NL sisters and post a link to a topic/thread where they are fighting for social issues like government representation, fair employment quota in scientific related fields, etc... And here you are biting your fingers.. When I say more in, you don't know what the phrase means? Does it mean the alternative is non-existent, or that it is less? I even thought you had something in your head when you first engaged me...now it seems you're just more of the same. A mentally thorough female on NL is like a needle in a haystack Mehn. Please move aside jor with your partial level of assimilation and let me continue throwing insults back & forth with your sisters above, since it seems to be the only thing you people are professionals at. Debating like literates and countering with solid facts is complete rocket science to most of you. 4 Likes |

UjuJoan2: What you call a whole lot of women is still a very small percentage of all women, and what my post addresses is simple: Instead of women focusing on liberation when it comes to negative issues, why are y'all not focusing on liberation in positive issues - issues like increasing the number of women around the world who are trailblazers. Why is this so hard for you all to understand? Abi women no get ambition to be greater than men again? 4 Likes |

Re: Have Women Lost Their Feminine Mystique? by UjuJoan2: 9:23pm On Jun 24, 2019 |
crackhaus: No doubt, modernization has it's ills. But why not celebrate it's victories rather than focus on the negative? Everything has a ripple effect. Women are no longer hidden away till they are 'ripe' to be shown to suitable suitors. The disadvantage is that some women lose themselves and don't even realize they are suppose to be 'mysterious'. . But then that's just a small percentage of women isn't it? Can you honestly tell me that 'most' women you know behave the way the OP described in her write up? I just have a problem with the conclusion drawn from her personal experience . . and you've not said anything otherwise. I mean other than your broad claim that this is about feminism. Why can't it be about defending womenfolk and their morality? It rubs me off the wrong way when I see 'stories' like this. Not one person in my circle behave the way she described. And yet I'm supposed to just accept that women of nowadays are that irresponsible |

UjuJoan2:This thread is not enough? The equally high number of threads littering NL where all these girls talk about is more sex, more boyfriends, less tradition, less religion, etc.. are not enough? Even in the real world, the number of protests campaigning for more abortion rights, the ones campaigning for more sexual expression and freedom, the ones campaigning for more nudity, etc..all these are not enough statistics? Are you deliberately feigning a lack of knowledge on these things? How many times have you turned on your TV or come on the internet to see a massive demonstration by women campaigning to increase the number of women in the army, to balance the number of billionaire CEOs in the corporate world, to have more women in the STEM field, etc.. I keep it real, best for these women to do same so they can move forward. 4 Likes |

crackhaus: I don't know how to post videos, I have plenty!!! There's this video of a young school girl talking yo world leaders about equitable gender planning . . I really wish I can upload. I'm in a community of practice for women in governance, and guess what we talk about all day? crackhaus: We obviously DO NOT watch the same things . . . So women are now the ones championing nudity? I suppose women are also at the forefront of gay rights and trans rights . . I suppose you have to give a DOG a bad name in order to kill it. And no, this thread and Nairaland is not credible enough. |
Re: Have Women Lost Their Feminine Mystique? by crackhaus: 9:42pm On Jun 24, 2019 |
UjuJoan2:Uju, at 20 pages, do you realize you might be the only one who has actually made a deeper contribution? There is a difference between responding & reacting and it takes someone with a high level of mental cognisance to avoid the latter because it only reveals an emotional imbalance. Now that you know that the situation described in the OP does not represent you or your reality, then the article was never for you in the first place. She never said all women have lost their feminine mystique, she said going by what she experienced, it seems there is a cogent reason why women are losing their feminine power. Any woman who feels she hasn't lost hers, still behaves in morally acceptable ways, and does not in any way see herself in the reality of the author of that article, would never be triggered in the first place. I hope this makes sense. 4 Likes |
Re: Have Women Lost Their Feminine Mystique? by crackhaus: 9:47pm On Jun 24, 2019 |
UjuJoan2:There is something called free-the-nípple movement, it promotes nudity and it is championed by women. There are social commentators all over instagram and the media telling women to wear what they feel good in and not worry about what society thinks, this is nudity and it is spearheaded by women. Gay rights and trans rights are issues that cut across genders - both sexes can be gay, both sexes can be trans. This is a moot point. I'm talking about issues that promote women ONLY in the negative light. Meanwhile, you're yet to mention the campaigns by women in those positive issues I mentioned. 3 Likes |
Re: Have Women Lost Their Feminine Mystique? by UjuJoan2: 9:52pm On Jun 24, 2019 |
crackhaus: Still her article is a bit myopic in my opinion. Personal experience of NOT! Even in the era she's modelling, we still had women who went against the rules and behaved in not so acceptable ways. You can never really rule out the bad eggs. So why put 'most modern women' in that box? She's talking from her own perspective, with no comparative statistics to back up her claim, and you are so agreeing with her. You still did not answer my question about your own personal experience. Can you honestly say that most women you know are up yo no good 1 Like |

UjuJoan2:You still don't get it, do you? Which of these represents a more accurate scientific representation: Using the minority to judge the majority, using the majority to judge the minority? Please answer... 3 Likes |
Re: Have Women Lost Their Feminine Mystique? by UjuJoan2: 10:02pm On Jun 24, 2019 |
crackhaus: What's your own majority? The nudists and the abortionists? That's not the majority. Just because those are the onesyou see doesn't make them the majority. I'm sure women are setting up as much business as men (and I have the statistics where I live), I'm sure as much women attend Police/army recruitment as men, I'm sure women now occupy more positions of authority Now I have no information about nudes and nipples, enough to make comparisons about which is in the majority. But don't expect me to take your word for it. I need a comparative analysis. And do we even have to choose? Between the good and bad? Why can't we be allowed to talk about the good without the bad being thrown in our faces? |
Re: Have Women Lost Their Feminine Mystique? by crackhaus: 10:07pm On Jun 24, 2019 |
UjuJoan2:Well according to Magnolia, in NL, "plenty women have registered as far back as 2008, having 16,000+ posts, active in soooo many other sections." Yet in all that time, you and I both know that the only thing they fight so passionately about has to do with nothing else than sex, more sex, more sex. Less traditions, less religion, less good behavior. Apparently, whatever negative issues men don't get judged for, women shouldn't get judged for it...which only means, negativity is the desirable. Yes, men might get applauded for sleeping around...but why will a woman who hasn't been or has any intention of sleeping around, be fighting for women to be applauded in the very same thing? Isn't that some kind of reverse liberation? 4 Likes |
Re: Have Women Lost Their Feminine Mystique? by crackhaus: 10:23pm On Jun 24, 2019 |
UjuJoan2:Of course she's talking from her own perspective, but you forget she is an accomplished author with a lot of literary accolades. These people take years to write books and build up on a lot of perspectives and information, you cannot without solid reason debunk her claims because you don't like it. About your question, I have stated it here times without number that it is on NL I see women promoting negativity and basically being up to no good, same thing on other social media.. I personally don't even associate with a typical Nigerian feminist in real life unless she completely exemplifies the total substance of feminism. All those one leg in, one leg out parade, is something I'm all too allergic to. Needless to say, I am lucky to know and associate with some top class Nigerian women who have substance and grit, exceptional at what they do, and successful in their careers. However, do you know that these group of women are even more traditional, submissive, and unassuming, much more than these little girls with no direction in life who carry equality in negativity on their heads like a full time job? NL is another world entirely, I keep saying it. 3 Likes |

UjuJoan2:Lol, you didn't answer the question. Which of these represents a more accurate scientific representation: Using the minority to judge the majority, or using the majority to judge the minority? Answer that first before we start determining what we think is the majority versus the minority. 3 Likes |
Re: Have Women Lost Their Feminine Mystique? by UjuJoan2: 10:26pm On Jun 24, 2019 |
crackhaus: I think your conclusion are just wrong!!! Just because a women doesn't want to be judged for a vice that a male counterpart will be applauded for, doesn't mean she wants to be 'applauded' too. Not getting judged and being applauded are quite exclusive of each other. I'll give you an example . . A woman meets a guy, they fall in love and date for years, have sex and all that. . . then something happens along the line and they break up. Another guy comes along, they date, have sex, but this time they end up getting married. Chances are that the woman will be shamed if for some reason life brings her husband and her ex together. She had sex with the guy and for some reason she has been 'tainted'. Now for the man the opposite is usually the case. Wife runs into her husbands ex and she's filled with pride that she finally got the guy. No shame for the man here at all . . .no judgement! Does the fact that this woman do not want to be judged for her sexual history mean that she wants to be applauded? |
Re: Have Women Lost Their Feminine Mystique? by UjuJoan2: 10:27pm On Jun 24, 2019 |
crackhaus: You are asking an obvious question, I don't have to answer. However, both classes in this case are subject to personal experience and socialization. |
Re: Have Women Lost Their Feminine Mystique? by UjuJoan2: 10:35pm On Jun 24, 2019 |
crackhaus: Ahhh . . I rest my case at the bolded. The same way successful women are more unassuming is the same way the middle class make more noise than the wealthy. Our people say 'afia oma na ere onwe ya', no need to make noise. In any case I don't think feminism is about not being submissive, I think it's about not getting judged based on gender, but getting recognized on merit. I keep saying that my husband is the head of our home. Even if we both go out in the morning and come home in the evening, I think its duty to go into the kitchen, make dinner and serve him while he 'rests'. But I don't let him ignore my mental capability because he is a 'man' and I'm a 'woman'. When I feel strongly about something I insist on it. If that is what you guys refer to as feminism, then I'll be happy to wear a badge |
