lanre2009:Pla and pls don't allow those mechanics tamper with how the car came . Buy single or double . It doesn't matter . But don't allow them put the fan on permanent . It will damage the fan quick and you would need to buy fan almost every 6 months The fans are not designed to work like that Secondly , it will affect your car engine . The engine oil are meant to be hot and thin so it can lubricate every joint or space it suppose to go . When your fan is permanent, this is lost and your engine oil is thicker than normal and hence unable to lubricate every part of the engine . It makes the engine to wear quickly . I have used Honda for over 14 years and can tell you for free that it is a very nice car especially the engine. It is very resilience. Bad mechanics are our biggest problem because most of them don't even own a car anyway . Just replace the radiator only don't tamper with any other thing . If the fan is bad replace it too a d you are good to go I currently use Honda Accord 2014 and have used 2008 model and even the 2007 models . Superb Car . The engine never for once gave me issues I sold them in good condition. 5 Likes |

Structuralman:Lies ....U know nothing about cars The way the car is designed ...no fan would work untill the oil is hot enough....the thermostat is the one that would determine if the car fan should work or not . Single or double doesn't matter ...the car would work fine don't just tamper with how the car was made . 1 Like |

jidemoh: There is nothing like his car was not tropicalized. All these New car's comes with sensors attached to their fans, the fan won't pick untill the temperature of your car hits around 95°c and above,it will switched off at 94°c and picked at 95 again, those fans comes with 3 speeds and each speed level is determined by the temperature of the car. The speed is always at it's peak when you are in the traffic |

lanre2009:I have been driving different model of Honda for the past 11 years, my advise... 1. Change the radiator with the only exact type you bought the car with. 2. Dont connect the fans to direct except if u want your fuel consumption to increase. 3. Dont remove thermostat. |

naija mechanics do what favors them , they do what they know , so dont blame the advise given The car you driving has gone through R&D to be built, the testing and development is crazy when these companies build these cars, dont blame the weather , naija is not hotter than the UAE , so its not the heat or the traffic. changing anything that does not enhance your vehicle is just a waste of money in the long run you should buy the replacement radiator for your car use coolant for honda cars not water ,..............coolant do not remove anything replace what is broken in the car and enjoy your life remember you pay to play , so you buy cheap knock off you get exactly that its better to buy a used replacement than buying a knock off and even if your car has 3-20 cells and the fans are always on from now till forever , it will just be a band aid till u get a broken engine remember when the car is overworking , i.e fan always on, no thermostat etc , fuel consumption drops , engine life drops , engine that is supposed to last at least till 400k will knock or start burning oil before 200k Goodluck |

kokomaster3d: ^^^ Some cars do come factory fitted with mechanical fans - fans which start running immediately you crank the engine. They are designed that way. |
Re: Radiator Problems On 2006 Honda Accord !!! by thebigkendo(m): 5:54am On Sep 28, 2019 |
VolvoS60: You are right but most of those come with a viscous clutch, which controls the fan speed based on coolant or oil temperature. Almost like how your AC compressor pulley is always spining with engine but only "works" when the AC is on but in this case.. Fan spins at lower speed when temperature is low or when on the free way, high speed when idling or slow moving traffic |

Piyke:I've not replace air filter since I bought the car only replaced fuel filter sometime last year. My instinct keeps telling me it's the gear box, a mechanic advised I service the gear box filter. I just hate all these trier by error mechanics do most of them don't know the job well but do tryier by error making owners to spend unnecessarily |

uboma:When people say no issue, I laugh. He probably won't tell anyone how many batteries he has bought in five years. How many fans he has bought in five years. How poor his mpg is. How the car smokes each time he accelerates. How he sees the steam coming out of other people's tail pipes as a tall dream. Yeah, his car has no issues. 2 Likes |

Felicity001: Most likely the problem is your fuel pump. Most likely. I have driven 2 cars- Volkswagen golf and Honda baby boy experiencing this issue. After changing the fuel pump it returned to normal. Look for a good rewire bro. Although, some mechanics also repair it anyway. |

Coolgent: Oga. You cannot compare 3 months of summer in some states in the US with 9-10 months of intense heat in Nigeria. Besides, cars over there are not on the road as frequently as the ones here so wear and tear is minimal which is why we celebrate them as new cars in this part of the world. |
Re: Radiator Problems On 2006 Honda Accord !!! by Solatium(m): 8:35am On Sep 28, 2019 |
Felicity001: The number one issue is the Gear oil in your gear, what you have is not the recommend gear oil, once it gets hot to a certain temperature it won't be able to lubricate your gear again and the gear stalls,You are still lucky that the gear works. Drain that gear oil as ASAP and replace with the recommended gear oil. If you still have your car manual, the type of gear oil to be used will be stated there, and if you don't have it,go online and check the recommended gear oil for that particular model and your gear should be fine. |
Re: Radiator Problems On 2006 Honda Accord !!! by Felicity001(m): 8:42am On Sep 28, 2019 |
Thanks a lot, but you don't think I should service the gear filter right? I'll check online too see if I can get the recommended gear oil like your adviced. Solatium: |
Re: Radiator Problems On 2006 Honda Accord !!! by Solatium(m): 8:44am On Sep 28, 2019 |
Felicity001: Once you drain your gear oil, your mechanic knows he need to bring out the filter out and clean or better still replace and add new oil. |

Felicity001: Anything in red thing is not meant for all these mellenial cars, forget all these olodo Mechanic and stop giving them money for parts,When it comes to parts and lubricants, make sure you buy them yourself and supervise them while on the job or else you will learn in a hard way. I uses a Toyota Corolla 09 and my gear was acting same way until I changed to the recommended oil. I put Total MVLV oil (Fluitmatics) in my gear, and a liter cost ₦3500 and I had 3 of that in my gear and I never regrets for once 1 Like |

thebigkendo: ^^^ Fair point. But to my untrained eye, the fan on this particular vehicle seems to spin at high speed even from rest (when the engine is cold - and one would expect low fan speed till operating temp is reached ). Perhaps this explains why for this vehicle, the temp needle on the instrument cluster NEVER gets to the halfway point (unlike several other Toyotas & Hondas I have come across) even after prolonged hard use in heavy traffic. |

Solatium:Hmm... Experience they say is the master. I've checked and have seen the recommended gear oil, from my findings it's obvious the gear oil is long due for change since I've not change for the past 3yrs. A drain is recommended after 30-60k miles and I've done more than that. 1 Like |

Felicity001: Hmm how can you use cheap auto gear oil and expect your gear to function properly. MY Peugeot 406 V6 recommended auto gear oil cost N6700 per litre and it can take up to 8 litres when drained completely. I have never had issue with my auto gear and it shift swiftly like brand new. I normally buy direct from PAN office in Kaduna. |
