It's the false trinity doctrine that is confusing you people. They aren't even remotely the same thing, although they are both titles, and not names.

'god' is title for a deity, with the capital 'God' meant to refer to the creator of the universe. The Bible calls the devil a 'god', and humans 'gods', but there is only one true God - the father and God of Jesus (not Jesus himself).
