If the OP could manage a situation like this so effectively with his resources, I see no reasons why he shouldn't be trusted with much. I'm not wealthy but feel the need for us to contribute funds towards the whole legwork and bruhaha

This is a call for us like minds to donate to save this woman and probably help the op plan towards getting a new okada as I feel that okada is gone. 500naira 1000 naira from multiple persons feels okay to request. Wouldn't you agree Sir?
I agree 100%

The best doctor is the one that knows his limit. I really don't think any private hospital should kept this kind of injury .. They are meant for specialist, which are readily available in a teaching hospital.

They know they cannot handle it but quickly collected 3k for card?
The heart of most black people is just pure evil and this good okada man and the keke man are shining a bright light in a country where darkness of the soul is rampant. God bless you and the keke man.
Nigerians are now very good at taking pictures with their phones instead of helping injured people and its all so sad.
This is not the country I grew up in, things have degenerated to a point of no return.

The heart of negroes!!!....so black!!!! And they are all over celebrating keresimesi. Bunch of demon worshippers.

Op, I am so happy ideal humans like you exist. You just happen to be among the 1% situated in the sh1t hole with animals.

I wish your story can get national recognition so that you can be awarded and others put to shame.

Everyday animals will be making noise about values and culture. But they don't know what being a good Samaritan means.

I feel for the lady.

Please who is/are the law?
This is Naija o, hope you remember?

I remember very well, this is naija where citizens only care about their rights and NOT their responsibilities. It is responsible of him as a citizen to report such, a legislation was passed recently against doctors rejecting accident victims and if he takes steps to report the incidence there are a number of ngos that will assist him, let's learn to do these little things, in our own little way we will be contributing to society well-being and development, this is how those people we admire behave, let's copy them

First, May God bless you brother for saving this woman. You have made a huge sacrifice and only God can reward you for.

I can relate with your story brother because I've been in your shoe before both in Lagos and Ogun state respectively.

As my late father used to say, " It can happen to anybody " i used to wonder how people feel bringing out phone recording people in need of help? What do they do with the videos, share on their status or page for worthless likes and comments?

As for the doctors, i don't blame them since majority of them are heartless and wicked. They derive joy in seeing dead people since our government won't question them.

I could remember how God Almighty used me to rescued a woman like that and only for the doctor and the nurses to be abusing me, calling me bad man that i want the woman to die so i can quickly marry another woman. For their mind they think she's my wife, this is a person i don't even know her name. I lied to them that i was away for work when they called me so i have to quickly rush home, one nurse with razor blade mouth still said because am not a caring man reason i did not know my wife is sick....felt like slapping her but i knew if i ever mention that she's a stranger they won't attend to her again so i have to play along for the sake of the woman.

After every every, she was stabilize and she asked what am i doing here, the nurse with her told her your husband brought you here bla bla bla the woman said am a single mother and please let me see the man. Na so dem know, the woman call her children and friends when dey arrive am about going when the doctor called me inside her office and asked me if i know the risk and repercausion of what i did? She asked me what if the woman die? I just told her, what happened to her could happen to anyone and i left.
The risk i have took for total strangers alone, at times when i remember i just shake head for myself.

Again, OP, you deserved the Nairaland BEST MAN OF THE YEAR award.

OP, be careful of how you give out your contact and the woman's location. So that her assailant won't be able to reach you or her. It might be more than the case of mere robbery.

Good job.

God bless you and your generation for saving the life of a total stranger, this is what God expects from us, it's quite unfortunate that the inhuman system in Nigeria has discouraged many kind people like you from rendering such help.

I dont absolve the staff of the hospital from being unprofessional, nobody should abuse anyone coming for help.
But the help was sought in the wrong quarters, which is my point.
Private hospitals should not be given that responsibility to 'do what they can do' in an emergency. Many private hospitals have only a single Dr on duty at night time who is likely just someone who has just finished medical school, mandated to look after their stable patients overnight. Even if those stable patients develop complications overnight, they will be in a very tight situation and should be moved to the government hospitals.
Rudeness or politeness in this particular case will help bruise or assuage egos, but that still hasn't helped the patient.
So if the purpose is to talk about unprofessionalism/rudeness that's fine we can go ahead. However, that still wouldn't resolve or bring solution to the daily problems we see faced by patients in a true emergency- such as delay in receiving appropriate care which will invariably lead to a poor outcome.
This leads again to the question- why were they in a private hospital in the first place?

This why I said you keep missing the point. I am not denying all these things at all yet you keep going into more and more detail. Ive already said that if they cant do anything then its not for anybody to blame them.

Politeness or rudeness wouldnt have helped the patient? Are you serious?

So there is nothing in a doctors training about how to handle an emergency professionally or how your conduct will affect the outcome? Dont you think all the insult and screaming and shouting is bad for somebody with a traumatic injury who is in shock already Im sure thats part of ethical practice, dont you think?

Whether they should or should not have been in the hospital is a different matter which you have already expounded in great detail and nobody can disagree with you on anything youve said concerning that issue.

But the point is now that theyre in the hospital, what do you think the best way to deal with them is? Shouting and screaming?

That poor lady will remember that night and the crazy things that happened for the rest of her life and youre here acting as if it doesnt matter. Its wrong.

For you to say that it doesnt help the patient or it wont bring solutions to "true" emergency is narrow-minded and insensitive. Its not only maxillofacial surgeon that matters. Everybody on that team matters and has an effect on the overall patient experience in that facility! This is how to improve indices. By holding staff to good standards and seeing the humanity of your patients before acting.

In developed countries you can get suspended for abusing a patient like that, do you know that

Whats the point emphasising that "help was sought on the wrong quarters" but ignoring what actually happened in those "quarters" and even dismissing it as "bruising ego" How can you talk about "receiving appropriate care" when holistic patient care has everything to do with conduct and manners?

And how do those that know how they come to existence fare? Are you better than those that don't know how they came to existence. Did the callous Policemen and doctors that refuse to help a dying victim even though that's their main responsibility not know how they came to existence? Did the armed robbers that wickedly maimed the poor girl not know how the came to existence?
In fact 99% of Nigerians claim to know how they came into existence, but they are the most wicked and heartless people on the face of the earth.

The Okada Driver and Keke marwa guy are one in a million. I doubt they are even Christian or muslims, as these religions are more interested in power and wealth than helping fellow humans.

erm... that's the okada guy you are talking to

Can Nairaland mods stick the account details on the first page. I.e edit the first post of the OP and include the necessary information.

It is hell sieving through 10s of pages just to search for what account to transfer to.

Seun, Mukina2 please help.

Also please people should avoid that Orile , Badia towards Mile 2 at night. Some people living on that axis are animals , the gory they go through daily has made them so desentized to humanity.

I happened to drive through that side some few months back and they were happily passing by a guy with his eyes gorged out. I can't imagine what happens at night on those roads.

Like WTF.... Wishing this lady speedy recovery and to the guy. You are humanity personified. Every single day we see people who spurn and turn to wickedness. Your type and act is one thing that still sometimes give me hopes that something good can actually come out of humanity.

how can we get to fix these leaders? I want something that will hurt them badly becus they have hurt us badly.

If u know the way I wish that I could have the knowledge to create bombs, I wouldnt mind recruiting an army to eliminate the families of these politicians.
