We have BUA, Lafarge and even elephant, i even prefer Lafarge to any other product But which other platform can show you Epl and Uefa aside from DSTV? If you want to argue, argue with fact 1 Like |

abescom:That is still bullshit.Market viable rates is an ambiguous term which can be pegged at different prices by DSTV and the Nigerian broadcasters, and i can assure you they wont arrive at a compromise. You cant expect Multichoice to buy rights at say 50 billion dollars and sell to them at 10 billion, whos gonna pay the deficit?Lai Lai Mohd? |

CSTR2:Be assured that the next installment BT Sports sells EPL rights would be higher than the last price cos of the growing EPL popularity and viewership. So if FG sets a price floor and cap, then DSTV would pull outta the #shithole to prevent selling at a loss and #shitholers are forced to fix their football cravings illegally, ultimately hiking up the price.Simples 1 Like |

You have not answered my question. Can u build without using Dangote cement? What of Dangote salt? Dangote spaghetti is the only one in the market?, even when Dangote refinery comes on board, would u say it is the only refinery in Nigeria?: Now my question, does DSTV have competitors in sport broadcast in Nigeria?: NimrodEndOfDays: 1 Like |

eldoradoxx:as I said before in a post before this one. Nigerians can do exactly what Dangote is doing only if the environment is made conducive. I will say this and you can choose to believe whatever you wish because this is my opinion. Dangote was not this prominent before 1999. He was known as just another rich man in the North so was his uncle dantata. He became extremely wealthy because he is Fulanis and have waivers from the FG which another person from another tribe can never in a million years have. I have been following the for years and I know for a fact that there are very many people who can afford to build a refinery in Nigeria but the tribe in power will not accept it. Call it sentiment call it whatever but we know how the North plays it's politics there is no level playing field in Nigeria. 1 Like |

Gwilym: Point of correction: HITV failed because they offered and paid much higher than what DSTV pays. DSTV were unable to show us Premiership for at least 2 good years within which 2 major things happened (1) HITV, without the viewership numbers made an incredible loss (2) DSTV widened their local content base by introducing Yoruba film channel as Nollywood had more viewership than sports, so they offered more products to an already captive markets. Other indigenous channels on DSTV surfaced thereafter. |

Some people are blaming FG here and not DSTV. To me, DSTV is the culprit here because they corrupt our sports regulating agencies with bribe to secure exclusive right to show this sports channel. Same reason why they don’t show Europa because they don’t have the right to show it in Nigeria not that they can’t. Now the main thing FG is saying is that this exclusive rights will be removed. Any company that has the financial capacity to buy these rights from English FA or its equivalent can show it in Nigeria. Well this is my own understanding in case the “we know it all” comes for my head. 2 Likes |
