AW has got so many things wrong in the past few years. Lettin certain players go,not adequately preparin for injuries and been too shrewd in the transfer market. But is that really sufficient to call for his head? why throw the baby away along with the water. Wenger made Arsenal what it is today. Arsenal wouldnt have been any better than Everton or Aston Villa if not for him. And even with the inadequacies of the team,we are still a respected side. Any team that understimates us does that at itw peril. We will come good eventually. But I admit we MUST sign established players. We just have to. If not, there wont be any silverware.

That's kinda sentimental don't you think . . .

dude, I dont love engaging unfamiliar peeps but let me indulge u a little, I am one of the longest serving, reading, posting and most consistent gunners here on NL, I have always been the most accurately sceptical gunner in all of NL Arsenal section . . .wherever have u read I said Wenger must go ?

on the other hand, if Wenger goes, the heavens will not fall, I had been supporting Arsenal when AW had never dreamt he would coach Arsenal, wo what gives ?

Dayo, arsenal wont die if wenger becomes unable to continue as coach. But lets face it. Wenger has been coach here for how many years now,14 or thereabouts. And he won trophies last as far back as 5 years. A long time. But after all these years of not winning, the fan base still increase. Why is that? Is it cos we finish top four? Or cos we play in europe every team? I say no. Its the style of football that we play. Thats what we sell and have been successful in 'marketing'. Many ppl didnt like the game of football until they got to watch some arsenal games. So if our coach leaves, what 'product' do we sell? A new coach will bring his own ideas. Ideas that may not uphold the kinda footie our fans have enjoyed. We want trophies, but we love the way we play too

@Dr Kit and Dipo

I don't know where I stand on the Wenger should go thingy . . . but Dipo's argument is really weak, if Wenger has brought us as far as he can, then he should be booted, this is a business of winning trophies, not a charity. That's how companies expand, by bringing in people that can take them to the next level.

That was the same thing Auxerre said about Guy Roux that made him stay for 50yrs at the club.

Where would they start from.

When Mourinho left Chelsea, that was the same question some people asked

Some people in this thread think 'we should try another manager'. Those are the pps I am replyin to. If you look at former posts,u'll see those comments.

@Dayo

I find the Auxerre example rather hilarious.

As per Mour, how many years did he spend there? and I think his success centered aroung signing top class players. As far as the dough is available, any good coach can repeat that. Wengerball wont be easily replicated.

Do you have a Fergie or JM ready to sign as Arsenal manager? If, not throw this silly and pointless debate aside.

The real issue is to give JM and Fergie a near negative transfer budget for 4 seasons and tell me how many trophies they’d have won.

The data does not lie - the biggest spenders at the top continue to win trophies.

this is not the real picture. fergie is not manufacturing funds from the sand. he has been astute with how he sells the players he doesn't want any longer. for instance, mikel obi that never played for him was sold for 16 million to chelksi, a deadwood ben foster went for 6 mil, tosic went for 7 mil(same amount he paid for hernandez) and so on and forth. fergie is smart. he deliberately gives the reserve players loads of champions league minutes to increase their value in the transfer market and that is the key. without a doubt, fergie would have won a title in wenger's shoes and jose mourinho would be playing his strongest xi in the carling cup games all these years to have secured the title.

Wenger sold Henry for 16, Sold Kolo and Ade for loads of money where did the money disappear to?
Re: Arsenal Fan Thread: For Gunners Only (R.I.P Bawomolo). by Specialist900(m): 7:02am On Dec 17, 2010
He kept the money in the bank to generate interest for him. Are you ok now?
Re: Arsenal Fan Thread: For Gunners Only (R.I.P Bawomolo). by dipo2much(m): 7:18am On Dec 17, 2010
@ cou-gar.

Judging by what has actually happened in Manu,I kinda disagree. In fact, I think manu's inability to win a major trophy last season was cos he didnt have a lot to spend, just like wenger. Compare the signings Alex made in the past,to the kinda signings he has been limited to in recent years. Unable to make Berbatov/Hargreaves/Ferdinand/Rooney/Carrick type signings (BIG signings in other words), he has had to cope with Owen/Diouf/Chicarito/Bebe type deals which cost near-nothings compared to the kinda signings that actually won him a major trophies. The normal manu woulda signed Villa before Barca did if the money was available, and i'm sure you will agree that manu would be leading with at least 10 points if Villa had been brought. So Fergie'/ relatively low (compared to what he usually spends) transfer wallet has affected results for Manu.
i think thats what hs been happening to Wenger too for so long

Fergie sold CR for a mysterious, almost mythical, ground shaking £80M pounds. Where did he keep the money?
Why has only made Obertan-type signings?

Nope bro, was just concerned about your well being. felt you have gone to kenya. Nice to have you back anyway. How did u see the whooping? You its difficult for your team to recover when ever the big boys up Manchester beat them. So i think the game against stoke will be bring you down once more.

Anyway enjoy Rory Delap as the wintry breeze blow from Siberia.

Yeah, admittedly. But its worse to ask Wenger to go. Where do we then start from?

when i read stuff like the outlined, then i weep quietly inside.

you mean u actually think in THAT MANNER? Wenger "made" arsenal?  wenger-ball or wat did u call it is the ONLY GOOD BRAND OF FOOTBALL in the world?

where do we start from if wenger goes

aahhh, u see i begin to see sense with a lil fraction of the tripe donkeykanu says.

anyhow, way back in 2003/2004, i was opportuned to see an interview on CNN, and i told my pal then that this club was in trouble. turns out i was clairvoyant.

at that time, i was pissed off with the annual Viera saga, so u can understand my annoyance.

the occasion in the interview was some ceremony at ashburton grove (before they sold naming rights) and Peter Hill-Wood was speaking to reporters and was going on and on about how the stadium was down to wenger's passion, how he was the one who pushed for it, even when the board did not think it could work, how wenger and david dein secured the financing bla bla bla!

there and then i knew Wenger WILL NEVER BE SACKED AT ARSENAL, at least not by the present board, and also had an insight into what was going on.

if a club chairman was silly and gutless enough to be publicly saying that his job was being done by the coach he employed, and how they were indebted to the coach etc etc, then their is little or no hope.

the last vestige of commonsense and spunk in that club was David Dein, and when he saw the trends and wanted to get the club to move along with it, they promptly schemed him out. whether or not u agree with the sugar daddy experiment is moot, at least this was the last person who actually wanted the club to BE A CLUB

since then arsenal has lost its position and influence at the FA, lost its best players/best practices, forgotten how to win a trophy, are in the shackles of a coach who has found a real life fantasy football club to experiment and play footy manager with!

and the eternally gutless, forgetful fans have equally joined the mess and are tied to kissing the messiah's backside for taking them from being a domestic big hitter with pedigree to an internationally known, floosie, lightweight club with little or no point other than to provide entertainment for fans and foes alike.

arsenal was a domestic force pre premier league, along with United, liverpool, and Nottingham Forest, in case some are'nt aware or have'nt u heard of george graham, bertie mee etc? Bar liverpool, Arsenal had more local flavor and trophies to boot than the rest of the topflight combined!!
and in europe had won the fairs cup, and later the cup winners cup!!

Quite clearly the only hope resides in our "saviour and only hope" tiring of is "creation" and resigning.

this is where the flood of "stats" come pouring in about how wenger was the bestest thing since slice bread.

funny thing is, chelsea were nobodies for 50 years, then got a sugar daddy who spent and they still didnt get it right, then employed a coach who took them from nobodies to THE ONLY REAL THREAT TO MAN UTD AND THE REST OF EUROPEAN FOOTBALL! now thats sumtin crazy
even much more funny is they SACKED the bloody bugger, and the CLUB IS STILL WINNING TROPHIES AND IS STILL A THREAT ANYWHERE!.

in north london, our messiah is unmoveable, "where will we start?" reminds me of an illiterate footy fan i met once who actually thought wenger owned the club, because he felt that the names sounded alike grin grin grin grin     he honestly thot arsenal was gotten from arsene, such that he called the man "arsenal wenger"

i support the club not wenger, i dont think wenger is the only messiah we can have, i think he has gone as far as he can.
even more importantly, I WILL BE THE ONE TO SEE HIS BACK, not vice-versa.

ALL GUNS BLAZING. GUNNER TILL I R.I.P!!!! its all good. My peole keep the faith ya'll (and contact your neighbourhood spiritualist for special "work" for the carling cup, cuz without that, the team will not win the carling cup. this side lacks that lil thing the english call BOTTLE!!
