Good day everyone, I really need your contribution and advice concerning this matter.

I'll try as much as possible to be brief on this, pls Pardon my blunders. I've a friend whose 17yr old cousin sister was raped few days ago by 3 guys, fortunately one was caught while the remaining two were at large.

My friend being that she's the only capable pson in in the family took it upon herself to find justice for her little cousin. The case was reported to the area command while the little girl was recuperating in the hospital.

This is very bad for her case and any other future victim who visits her station.
Usually, compromised policemen are the one wh pressure victims to drop their case
but in this case, your friend is sending a strong signal that she isn't interested.

I believe she isn't telling the whole story.

You have already lost this case and your friend will be eviscerated by a competent
lawyer if the case goes to court.
A sensible judge will be willing to believe that your friend's reaction is out of guilt for
setting up innocent men especially if she knew one of them before this incident.

Anybody that hesitates in law loses in court. Soon, your friend will lose all leverage in the case.

If those people aren't punished now they may end up being hardened criminals. The girl in question could have died in the process. If she died her body would have been dumped somewhere n perpetrators o the dastardly act could ended up not being caught. Getting justice should be something she should fight for so as to serve as a deterrent to others.

Send the animals to prisons.. rape cases is more than robbery cases in Nigeria but for some reason it Is not always reported and even though it is reported, it dies out due to bribery and corruption.

I will not be surprise if that 24 year old guy had harrass,violated and raped a woman before. Cause I know our police system lack database. Such can repeat it self but it will be good if they are locked up.

Sorry to hear this.

Before you start talking about the boys and getting justice for her. Let's take care of the girl first. She may have been exposed to HIV given the profile of the boys here. She may also get pregnant. If it's not too late already you need to get the girl to a hospital where she can get Post Exposure Prophylaxis, that way she won't get the virus. But this has to be under 48 hours. You also need to get her the morning after pills to prevent pregnancy. Then, she needs to speak to a counsellor too as fast as possible. The emotional pain is the heaviest for issues like this and you never can tell when it would weigh on her.

After this, let's get the law to help correct the wrong from those boys. Depending on the state this happened, you can get the boys behind bars using the VAPP Act or the state version of it.

Not in all cases, justice will tempered with mercy.

Otherwise, there will be no limit to crime rates and lawlessness.

Monitor the case Well,because women are emotional and she might decide to free them, the next person they rape will be on you and your conscience, a 14year old is old enough to know the difference between right and wrong, let them be prosecuted to the full extent of the law,don't accept anything less than 21years incaseration please.

Let her see a doctor fast, for HIV/pregnancy preventive procedures. Rapists should not be pitied. It's best she makes sure the are given the full punishment under the law especially the one that is up to 24 years. That one at least should have a good time behind bars. That's justice, no sentiments. The victims of rape have psychological effect that lasts a longtime if not lifetime.

Justice should be inevitable. She should not let her emotions make her back down. The victim is going to be traumatized, stigmatized and vulnerable to future attacks, if Justice doesn't prevail.
