ikwerre are INCONSEQUENTIAL lots. My personal conviction is that they are Igbo, but WHO AM I to proclaim such if 90% of them say they aren't? As of today, Ikwerre are rather igboid than being IGBO. H'abughi ndi igbo as it stands today since 1979. They may be igboid but not igbo. LET THEM BE. They are not indispensable. They are a drag to the Igbo cause. NNAMDI KANU's biafran dream includes Igbo and non-igbo (igboid) eastern groups... how I wish this igboid groups are severed from the movement. But then, in some of the IPOB meetings I have observed in the past, I see this igboid groups being represented. Let IPOB be, you never can tell which Igbo aspirations the 'gods' will favor, whether through IPOB or Ohaneze or so so and so. Die this ikwerre issue. they are inconsequential to the Igbo cause. 2 Likes |

THE LAST TIME THIS ANIOMA MAN COMMITED KILLS IN NIGERIA. EVEN THE WHITE MAN THAT INTERVIEWED HIM, PRONOUNCED HIS NAME LIKE AN IGBO MAN. SO EVERYBODY IS CLEAR ON HIS ETHNICITY. THEY CALLED HIS ACTION AN IGBO COUP. IGBOS WERE SLAUGHTERED UP AND DOWN NIGERIA FOR 4 YEARS. NOBODY WILL EVER HENCE FORTH, ANSWER OUR NAMES AND SPEAK OUR LANGUAGE THEN SAY THEY ARE NOT IGBO, IT IS NOT ACCEPTED BY US. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PJ2pcLO9HSc 1 Like |

pazienza:the Ikas deny being Igbo the most... much more than even ikwere can ever do and they even have a strong bases for that, their language is not intelligible with normal igbo....but guess what, when Godwin Emefiele was made CBN governor Buhari himself claimed that he gave Igbos the most important portfolios in his government...lol The rest of Nigeria will come together to give these people what is due to Igbos to spite us... your shouting that they are not igbo is not new to anyone. Ikwere and ika are both registered ethnic groups in Nigeria constitution yet talk with an average yoruba, he will tell you they are igbos...I repeat that is what you must make peace with and accept and leverage on. For now we win if we include them..we lose nothing by including them... but whether we include them or not will never stop Nigerians from including them when it suits other Nigerians Peter Odili lost the chance of being VP because he was Igbo...yet it was obj who included his tribe as an ethnic group in 1979 |

MelesZenawi: Obiana does not own Anambra state and his tenure will soon end. Every sub group in Igbo land have their own cultural organisaitons while Ohanaeze Ndigbo is the umbrella body that binds them together. I don't wish to go back and forth with you its already at 16th page.Until Ikwerri pullout from Ohanaeze Ndigbo and other Igbo groups we deserve the right to see them as Igbos regardless of their ethnic politics. |

selemempe: of course if our interest involves throwing ikwere under the bus I will be the first person to show up. You can't throw Ikwerres under the bus when doing so is vital and expedient to furthering Igbo interests, when you have Ikwerre people like Okwukwu in your apex organizations where you are supposed to discuss on secret agendas. You seem to be contraindicating yourself.
Igbo fragmented since 1970. It got redefined. It's the truth we have to deal with, and after 50yrs of trying to pretend like nothing changed, i think it's time we accept things as they currently are and work with with we have, which is still alot. Igbos holding unto the self destructive opinion of Ikwerre and their co-travellers in Rivers being Igbo, is akin to a man whose leg is dead and decaying, saying that the doctors should not amputate the leg, because he doesn't want his enemies to see that he is now crippled and mock him for it. It's a stupid thing to do, because the toxins from the decayed legs would certainly kill the man, yet the enemies all still know that the man is as good as a man without legs, since the decayed legs can't help the man stand, let alone walk or run. Worst still, the enemies would even be happy to have the decayed leg stay attached to the man because they know it would eventually kill the man. But if the man can accept his present realities, get the necrotic leg amputated, he can then work on getting high tech prosthetic limbs, he can live and do lots of things, he can even invest in body part transplant researches that would one day see him live to see a day he could be transplanted with another organic limb that is 100% as good as his own, he could live to give birth to children who would have limbs, he can do alot of things. All he need to do is accept his current reality and work with it.
Well, the Igbo will eventually come to the reality that Ikwerres are toxic to us as a people, and do the needful by expelling all Ikwerres from Igbo gatherings. We would definitely do this, if we ever wish to move on and grow again as a dominant group. There is no two ways about it. No Igboman who lives in Rivers state want to have anything to do with Ikwerres and their likes . It's usually ignorant Igbos who are totally ignorant of the reality on ground that run along with the Ikwerres bu Igbo delusions, based on interactions with one or two opportunist Ikwerres they met outside Rivers state.
I will not give up on Ndigbo, I will continue providing to us with the bitter truth, it is my utmost belief that the Igbo are a wise people, and that my contributions so far on this issue must have sparked off deep retrospective thinking in the minds of any Igbo person that comes across my posts so far.
I joined NL years ago as a teenager, only because I seek to promote Igbo advancement, and to debunk attempts by bitter Nigerian groups to paint Ndiigbo black , I have stayed true to this Igbo improvement agenda of mine. To that purpose, I have over the years continuously defended Igbo interests here and provided my opinions on what I genuinely believe is the way forward for Ndiigbo. 8 Likes |

pazienza:see You are a true igbo son and I won't say anything to the contrary because we disagree in this topic. However your analogy about dead legs and so doesn't fit. As at today today today, we lose nothing if we add ikwere into igbo. Nobody is laughing at Igbos and hoping that we keep attaching to ikwere and get burnt...for one they hope we will stop saying ikwere is Igbo You act as if ikwere are a bad people waiting in a corner to take what is coming to igbos when that is actually not what is on ground. They are actually every day people with a lot to worry about daily other than Igbo or identity. You were insulted by an Ikwere for being Igbo...so? What about the ikwere who are putting Igbo on the map like Tonto dike, Monalisa Chinda etc? When posts like these come up, why do you think Yoruba posters always tell us to 'leave them alone they say they are not igbos'? You think it's because they care about us or Ikwerre? Lol... It's always good practice for igbos to do the exact opposite of what yorubas want. 2 Likes |

ChinenyeN: Igbo is an ethnic nationality in Nigeria. However is not a statutory or constitutional nation as Japan, Italy or Holland. The Igbo ethnic nationality does not have a flag and certainly not solely represented by pan-Igbo organization such as Ohanaeze. Even if Republic of Igbo land is achieved today, the only universal icon to represent Igbo is the national flag. There could be many organization such as Ngwa United Front, Asa Progressive Union, Uratta Amalgamated Front, Nnewi Greater Tomorrow, Wawa Highland Front, Ika Progressive Union, Ogba-Egbema Progressive Elements, Orlu Founders Union, Nkwerre Okpuegbe Aborigines, Anioma United Front, etc. The existence of shithole called Nigeria incubates silly argument of being Igbo or not. 1 Like 1 Share |

selemempesee:
Nwanne, we lose alot by having Ikwerres in our midst. They are like a cancer to us. They are not part of us, yet some of them stay attached to us. Nigerians know they are not part of us, but because we accommodate them, Nigerians would in the future and present decide to give our appointment shares to them knowing that they are not truly part of us. But because we are yet to totally expel them, it would be hard for us to contest such appointments. Someone already made an example with Emefiele appointment here. In the future, an Igbophobic Ikwerre man would suddenly started chanting I am Igbo, and then Nigerians would make him a president, knowing fully well that he isn't really Igbo and as such would not be of use to Ndiigbo. We wouldn't be able to challenge it, because people like you are too stuck trying to woo and plead to Ikwerres to be Igbo. We need to draw a line on who is Igbo and who isn't, and ensure that those who are not, would have no part in us nor represent us in any capacity whatsoever without us disgracing the person and raising dust.
I never said Ikwerres are bad people. I'm saying they are not Igbos, and that they don't see us any different from how anyother non Igbo Nigerian group see us. They don't see us as kin, they are mostly opportunists seeking to exploit our emotional attachments to them, to advance their own course. Leave Tonto and Chinda, they are typical Ikwerre opportunists capitalizing on Igbo population, they don't truly see themselves as Igbos, This is not about an Ikwerre insulting me as an Igbo, this is about the official stance of Ogbakor Ikwerre and average Ikwerres you find in PH.
We mustn't make our problems all about Yorubas and Hausas, those people have nothing to do with Ikwerres and their actions. We need to grow above reducing everything down to Yorubas and Hausas. 6 Likes |

MelesZenawi: Their identity is already Ikwerre, there is nothing to choose. Ikwerre being Igbo depends on the Ikwerre you meet. Former Governor Chibuike Amaechi will proudly say he is an Igbo man. The current Secretary-General of Ohanaeze is Uche Okwukwu, an Ikwerre man and proud Igbo man. Some Ikwerres say they are not Igbos, others say they are not while others are neutral. So stop deceiving anyone that the entire Ikwerre said they are not Igbos. But regardless of the Ikwerre that says he is Igbo and the Ikwerre that says he is not, what matters is the future. Wether Igbo or Ikwerre, nobody is happy with Nigeria. |

Amarabae: Of course, Nnamdi Kanu and IPOB hierarchy know the truth. We call them "Eze na aghogbu ndi ha na-achi ". He knows fully well the Igbophobic nature of Rumu Ikwerre. They would have disgraced him if he dared entered Rumu villages, so Baba kwukwuma limited his "Tutugaga na yayadudu " at Oyigbo, when he visited Rivers state, knowing fully well that Obiigbo people are proud Igbos. I hate self deception. I will never be part of it. 4 Likes 1 Share |

gidgiddy: Stop deceiving yourself. Ikwerre is a fully fledged independent ethnic nationality with an apex body known as Ogbakor Ikwerre. The position of Ogbakor Ikwerre is that Ikwerre are not Igbos. This position also represents the wishes of the vast great majority of Ikwerre commoners. However, because of people like you who have refused to learn , an average Ikwerre man knows fully well that he can claim Igbo whenever there is something to benefit from doing such, especially when he or she is outside Rivers state, or hope to play at the national level, where he knows that Igbo population can be of use to him. It's the typical use and dump, and we have allowed this to go on for too long because we have too many emotionally weak ones in our midst. Amaechi Rotimi is probably looking forward to vying for president as Igbo man tomorrow, because Ndiigbo have decided to be foolish. It's 50years and counting now since this started, and I say we end it now. Come on! 7 Likes |

ChinenyeN: How exactly will adding Ikwerre to Igbo even put us on the map? It's just a 3 and 1/2 LGA, we already have 90 plus LGAs in SE, how much have we developed them? They have oil, but not in robust quantity, they don't have sea access, as you still have to pass through Ijaw controlled waters to get to the Atlantic. We already have this option at Obuaku in Abia state. They have PH city, but PH is a future Jerusalem where the Ikwerres will fight to finish with Ijaws to posses fully or agree to partition the city peacefully into two. We are not lacking in cities in SE, all we need is to work on them, and link them all to each other, and we don't have to share them with another ethnic group. I'm yet to get what the obsession with Ikwerre is all about. It's senseless. 6 Likes 1 Share |
