Yesso. I have just finished Nysc orientation camp and after the expiration of the usually given two weeks break. I packed my luggages. I was to travel from east to west. IMO to Osun state precisely. I got to onitsha park and boarded to Ilesha. but because that day was the last Saturday of the month which is always termed sanitization. I stayed in the bus hoping for the bus to get filled so that we can start going. I stayed there till 1:30pm that was when one other lady joined me. I had already pestered the driver to refund me my money to no avail. it was almost to two, it dawned on him that he could no longer get passengers that was when he refunded the fee, taken 1k out of the money we paid to him. I met with their chairman but nothing was done to refund the money. we joined any bus heading to akure. we got to akure between 6:00 to 6:30pm and headed to ilesha. the bus got filled at around 8:00pm due to lack of passengers. I already knew I won't make it to ibokun which is my ppa. I had to make friend with a woman and her son who were coming from delta state to ilesha. I narrated my ordeal to them just to gain there sympathy. we got to ilesha at exactly 10:00pm.by this time, commercial buses heading to ibokun were out of reach. the woman started making contact with some Igbo people in ilesha to see if I can pass the night with them, but their numbers were not available. she later helped me to carry my load and headed to their one room apartment were I slept till the next morning. initially, I was hoping to sleep in any church around ilesha but unfortunately, none of the churches I saw that day was open. That woman and her son saved my life that day. may God continue to bless them. Amen!!!

I don't really like typing stories but lemme say this

I think this one happened last year..At the end of our first semester exams, I wanted to return back to Lagos... Instead of following reputable transport companies like iyare, God is good and the likes.. I decided to follow SUG bus because it was very cheap(half the price I'm supposed to pay if I followed God is good and the likes)

But the main reason I followed the bus was because I had used most of my fare and by the time I had paid, I had only 200 naira with me

So when the bus (SUG) came to meet us at Hall 2 car park..it was very bad..... from looking at it ..one can suspect that this bus would have so many faults but I and the other passengers didn't care. We were all concerned on getting home..

So we paid and did all the necessary before the bus started it's journey.

The Journey became a nightmare after we got past ore. Suddenly the driver just stopped the bus and told us that there was a fault in the bus and that we should all come down..After a few grumbling from all of us, we all came down. Then the driver told us to be walking to the front that he'll meet us along the way. That period was fun as due to the fact that almost all of us were students, we all chatted with ourselves and made fun of the driver (behind his back tho). Then the bus met us on the way and we all entered.

But immediately we got past sagamu, The driver started complaining about the bus that it had a lot of faults and that he'll not be able to carry us to our final destination.. This thing infuriated most of us and we were all shouting at the driver that he should refund part of the money so that we'll be able to get another transport to our place . But the driver was adamant. He refused to give us anything at all claiming he didn't have any money on him.

After everything ..He was able to successfully carry us into Lagos..then he stopped us at ojota.... saying that his brake pads has spoilt and he can't afford to continue the journey.. After all the pleading, he refused to give us part of our money..

We all came down...

Then it dawned on me that I had just 200 naira on me ..and where I was going was still miles ahead(I was Going to cele)

So while other passengers were getting buses to go their various places..I was jus standing , hoping my dad would come and rescue me(that one just tell me that if I lost..e nor concern am)
After waiting for too long..I found a bus that was going to a different cele and I entered.. then they told me that they were not going my cele( first time I knew that we had two cele bus stop in lagos) But by then...they had already covered half of the journey..So the conductor gave me back 100 naira..

where they stopped me..when I asked how much was cele from there, they said 400..and I was with just 100 naira

so with my load(2 bags) I trekked and trekked and trekked and trekked(na dat day I know say Lagos jus small for map..e nor small for real life)
By the time I got past ogudu, I was already tired and weak but because I didn't want to beg..I continued mostly in desperation hoping if I could reach oshodi by foot...My problems would be half solved ..But oshodi seemed very far..when I asked how much for oshodi from where I was , it was still way above the money with me

Then I became very frustrated and had to do what I hated doing..BEG

Then I met one woman and explained my plight to her .. To my surprise..she gave me the money..I was very grateful to her(God will continue to bless that woman wherever she is)

Then immediately I boarded a bus and I got to cele...then from there I just trekked it to my house in okota...

Since then..I've made a vow not to enter uniben SUG bus and never to embark on a transport without holding at least 1000

But I don break all the vows sha cheesy grin

grin grin grin what a funny experience....

I guess you are not a regular or first time traveler or you be jjc. The bus stopped at ojota, Traditionally most buses if not all buses coming to Lagos stops at either Berger or ojota except probably for company buses. How will you be traveling to Lagos and have just #200 naira with you and two luggage considering you know you might possibly get to Lagos during the rush hour when transport fare to any part of Lagos becomes double and every bus will demand you pay for your luggage and you have just #200 with before embarking on the journey.

haba Boss...I nor be jjc ooo..

All through my travel experience..I've never had a time when the motor spoilt along the way..

All the buses I have followed in time past always dropped me at cele

My short story. Got to Lagos and a beggar man on wheel helped me, simply because on getting down from a bus from Ibadan, I gave him 10 nairas as alms. I have shared this story before.

I will go with the prophet, (S.A.W) sayings when you do good to someone, it comes back in 10 folds for you..

A beggar saved me

Lolz, I haven't really gotten stranded like that like that, and maybe once or twice I did, I quickly asked for help.
So it didn't register much in my head

But something of such I experienced that registered well is around early last year.
Our January Nysc clearance was stated for January second.
I immediately left Lagos for Fugar, Etsako central, Edo on the 1st of January. I branched by Ife to pick some important credentials from my room(while in school).
I got to Ife around 3-4pm, I was tired and wanted to chill till the next day to continue my journey, only for my CDS president to tell me the lgi won't agree if I don't make it to clearance early on the second(She's all this law abiding citizen to the core)
I quickly packed my load, had to drop my foodstuffs thinking I will comeback for them(big mistake). I got to akure around 6-7, the day was already getting dark. I asked the cab man if I will still get a cab to Edo, but he said No.
I don't know anybody or anywhere in Akure, and all I had with me wasn't up to 2k. I thought of lodging in an hotel, but I was sure it would be quite costly.
So I looked up a fairly cheap guest house to pass the night. It was dark, so I didn't have the chance to pick well. I got a place for 1k overnight sleep(no light, nothing enticing)
I was shown the bathroom and toilet(oh God). I was just tired and needed a rest, but the big mosquitoes and rats in the room didn't let me sleep. I had to put on my khaki to keep off mosquitoe bites.
I was about falling asleep when a guy and a girl checked in the room opposite mine(they didn't let me sleep with gbos gbas, gbas gbos, with all sought of noise(one of my longest nite)
I eventually made it to 5 am the next morning, I didn't even took my bath before I japa
That journey will always be in my head
(the yeye LGI gave a grace of one week for clearance)
I nofit cry, my food stayed in my room in Ife for almost 4months

I have had a lot of sad stories about being stranded but i will say just one

some years back, i was to meet my parent at ife(OUi) because i schooled in osun state. they were coming from a wedding at ondo state so they decide to see me and give me some food stuffs and tip, immediately she called me to start coming, I dashed out of the hostel happily cuz they have just left ondo state.
little did i know that if I'm to meet them at oduduwa university ipetumodu(OUI) i was suppose to take a bus going to ibadan and highlight at OUI junction but since i didnt know, I took a bus going ife since they told me they would be at ife soon.
Guys! the bus that took me went inside ife and was just taking longer than expected, then I asked the other passengers if we were closer to oui, I got the shock of my life that I had to take a bike from the last bus stop to OUI again( another enormous amount will be charged again cuz it's a long ride)

wen I sha finally get to OUI, they were furious that I kept them waiting, I was angry cuz u followed the wrong route too. we parted and I was going to get a bus inside ife again (wrong move, as I should have stayed at the front of OUI and get a bus going to my school(its after ilesha)
rain started falling, all these while, time was already far spent and it was around 9pm or thereabout + my hostel mates kept on calling me to know if I was okay.
I was directed back from mayfair(inside Ife) to come back to OUI junction which I just left o
I got there around 10 30 and I saw police on the road. they helped me in securing one jalopy truck that will take me to my destination(ipetu ijesa) after I narrated my plight to them
the truck driver was an hausa man so he just said okay to what the police said. I got on the bus(the back) and he was speeding in the rain with my lips clapping back at each other in pains. we never reach that one lane at all wen the man started shouting that he's going to ekiti and he needs to take a turn here, I was like what!!!!

to be continued

I traveled to Kaduna so I wanted to leave and come back to Lagos.
I woke late that morning and I'm that kind of person that doesn't hurry when travelling so I got to the park in Kaduna by 10am and they said morning buses have left that I have to wait for night bus. I wasn't in the mood for night travel so I just entered bus going to Abuja.

Getting to Zuba park the bus going to Lagos looked rickety so I boarded a cab to Gwagwalada. The bus I saw was having just 2 passenger inside so I went to the express.

Standing on the express I saw this pretty lady there with another man. We all were standing there when an Hilux pulled up and say Lagos.

I asked how much he said 3k, told him 2500. He asked me to enter. The lady went up to driver and said she will stop at Akure but she has only 1k. Driver said No.

The other man and me paid and driver now wanted to move when I drew his attention to the lady

I told driver to carry the lady for 1k or refund my money because the lady uncle handed her over to me when we were traveling so I can't leave her there. The lady was speechless and suprised. Driver saw how serious I was and asked her to enter.

Lady thanked me all through the journey cos I made sure she ate well throughout the journey duration.

She said how did I manage to lie at such impulse and I told her Men don't lie rather they scope

Year 2016..Was coming from Delta state.. Kwale to be precise during my NYSC... I was coming to Lagos for an event.. boarded a bus from kwale passes thru ogume and before you know it, the bus developed a fault and it was raining heavily around 5pm..of you all know Benin Agbor road...that junction that lead to Ika... na so the but couldn't go anymore and we are stranded.. time was going.. it became do or die.. we later saw one mini ambulance that came to drop a corpse at Delta from.Lagos.. the man called N1000..we agreed.. 4 of us..kos the rest had gone back home...we were guys sha... the driver was drinking and driving same time..he said if he wasn't drinking.. his morgue attendants job is at risk.. we began to move from Agbore junction to Lagos..whem he got to a village before Ore..the tire got punctured.. we could not fixed it.. he said the areas had kidnappers and robbers and so he had to drive to the town and check the car later. time was 11pm... We were stranded.. 4 guys and the driver left us...went to a brothel and catch his fun...we had nobody to call..
fortunately.. one of us had an uncle in that community but he wasn't home. he traveled.. so he directed the guy to go and meet one beer parlor madam..that she will allow us..not knowing that the back of the beer parlor was a brothel for short time. ladies had separate rooms for knacks and over nights.. we told the madam..and we were given a room to stay for that night...4 of us just laid our body on Olosho bed..we couldn't even check what and how the bed was...that day made me understand having shelter is the most important thing.. we couldn't sleep..mosquitoes and some creeping insects had their day..for the hours spent for the night.. it was like months.. my eyes could not close and by 5 am when the cock Crow. men...we all stood up and hit the road...by that time, we began to see busses going to Lagos and sort...I entered one car going from the areas and I got to Berger as early as 6:30...got to my destination before 10am...that experience taught me that with or without money. you may be stranded anytime while on the road..I had like 5k with me.but still I was stranded

Journey from Uyo to Lagos through Ibom Logistics (due to my excess luggages, I chose her instead of my favourite - GIGM). I did not choose GIGM initially because they would have waybilled my luggages to Lagos after three days which I did not want. Bus broke down in Abia just after Umudike where the driver was harassed and later punched by touts within the area. Honestly, we were lucky not to have been robbed. Afterwards, the bus started and we returned to Uyo to continue the following day. Due to the time and distance to my house, I slept in the park. The next day, we continued and unknowingly to me, it was the same bus even though the driver claimed that a mechanic worked on it. Expectedly, it broke down again as we approached the capital. This time, I got fed up and alighted, took an okada to the nearest park and boarded a bus to Uyo. When in Uyo, I headed straight to GIGM park and paid for two seats to travel the following day.

Penny wise, pound foolish!

Second was memorable as it was service year and a longer distance. Got posted to Potiskum, Yobe and decided to redeploy to the south. Fair enough, there was an option of automatic redeployment. Got stranded in Kano when the bus driver - The Young Shall Grow - disappeared into thin air. We (13 corp members) had to stay in a derelict motel for the night. The next day, we headed to the park only to be told excuses that he cannot move to Lagos with just 13 passengers, so we should wait. Luckily, there was a girl from the same platoon in camp who spoke Ibibio (which I do too) and as we conversed. we agreed to move instead of waiting due to the deadline NYSC gave redeployed corp members. So we left Kano by 10am and reached Lagos the following day by 2am.

In both instances, I saw the importance of money esp in the second as those remaining 11 corp members reached Lagos three days after we left.

Collegenews:
As the title says, have you ever been stranded while travelling especially due to lack of fund?
I had similar experience once, I was travelling from Abuja to Lagos 2015 and I had just #800 on me.

I took a bike to Federal college of education, Zuba. Trekked down the road and waited for like four hours looking for a free lift.

After the prolonged exposure to the scorching son, an old man in his say 60s driving a pick up truck loaded with food stuff finally slowed down to pick some passengers, I lied down flat on the road to beg him not even minding the other passengers there. I told him my plight and he had pity on me.

That was how he dropped me at Ojota and I found my square root.

I was left with #220 after I got home.

Share your experience.

Your experience is mai-mai if compared to mine! I can't believe you created this thread because of that!

As I usually do, I called the hotel I always stay in Orleans, France. I informed the owner (I know him and family in person) that I was coming to spend 3 days. I was assured my favorite room would be waiting for me.

At the D-day, I arrived at 1 am, 1hr. late (train delayed a little) from The Netherlands to find out my room was already given to someone else. I wasn't even allowed inside the hotel because it was already closed for the day. I had to sleep outside in hotel's glass enclosure after its outside door.

This glass enclosure somehow helped to keep the cold a little bit out because this happened during a very cold winter! I used my bag as a pillow while the rest of my body lay on the hard cold floor. How I was able to sleep should bs left for another thread.

Imagine waking up in the morning on the floor to see 4 pairs of white people's eyes moping at you wondering if you were homeless and stupid to sleep there. It was embarrassing. I was lucky I wasn't robbed or died of cold.

The owner of the hotel was called after I complained. He was shocked about my experience, he and his son apologized and compensated me with free two days accommodation with free breakfast and lunch. The owner gave me his private phone and promised it won't happen again, and surely it didn't.

So you now see why your experience is mai-mai.

Well, it's funny you asked because I have quite a handful of experiences. Most of which happened during my quest for medical internship.

The first was when I went to Calabar. The internship exam was at UCTH the next day. I took transport from my state without knowing anyone or budgeting for a hotel to sleep. Recent graduate... Where u see money for hotel... lol.

Anyway, it was a 6 hour plus journey. We arrived at Calabar in the evening, and it was getting late. We were still on the bus heading towards the park when I kept wondering what I would do. As we were driving past, I saw a building with the label: UCTH medical students hostel. I told the driver to stop me there.

I came down and met the first guy I saw. I told him that I was to write the internship exam the next day and I didn't have anywhere to sleep. He told me to wait let him call the hostel president. The hostel president came and asked me to show my ID card, license, and other documents. I did and he accommodated me in his room for two days. Very good guy. His name is Frank.

SECOND EXPERIENCE

The same internship travails, lol. Anyway, this time was in Delta state... Warri to be precise. Normally, I've heard about this city, so I was super cautious. I didn't have money for a hotel and didn't know anyone or have anywhere to sleep as usual.

So, when I got to the city, at the park, I asked for a cheap hotel for like 3k or less. They said they don't know of any, that I should get to Effurun roundabout. Hmm. When I got there I met another good guy, Stephen. He sells eyeglasses. I told him what happened and that I needed a hotel to spend the night if he knows any. He said he stays in the barracks and those hotels inside there were like N1,500 or thereabout per night. I said great.

So after the close of work, he took me there and that was how that one went.

I HAVE MORE, but let's do with this for now... grin

I took risks sha those times.

I wrote about my experiences in my book titled 'PREPOSTEROUS', if you would be interested in reading. Send me a PM.

My Boss. Lol

Went from awka to owerri for a job , was to return sunday evening , but i was already feeling sick , i took a bus around 6pm but because of traffic and heavy rain which made my sickness more complicated, i arrived at onitsha by 10pm and with a fever, blurry eyes and i couldnt move.
I just got down from the bus , and couldnt recognise the area, i thiught of sleeping in an abandoned shop and continuing the journey the next day , but in onitsha no where is safe.
I continued looking for a bus to awka , with my last strenght i saw one , not to long after i sat down, a guy came and pulled me out of the bus saying that i should enter another bus that i wouldnt like where the bus would take me too. I just allowed him lead me because i was to weak to argue.
The guy put me in another bus and my long journey started , i was practically so sick to the point of death , i prayed for safe journey because i couldnt see properly anymore and i was too weak to even run or put up a fight if anything happened .
I got to awka by 12pm , struggled to get to my lodge , opened my door and slept , i woke up on a hospital bed with my beautiful babe by my side.
Note-- that is the third time someone refused to let me enter a bus for no reason while others where entering

2007 December; Christmas period.
GUO Motors.
Damaturu to Onitsha (Original bus exit was from Maiduguri).

17th to Dec. to 19th Dec.

As a young guy that had just moved to the north recently, I had grown up to learn that villa for Christmas was the in-thing. Unfortunately, my fellow guys that were either born in the north or had moved when they were children, did not understand this.
And because I travelled alone (I was in ss3) and I loved adventure, I was always usually conscious of transport fare cost and how it increases as Christmas drew closer. Nowadays, I can leave on the 25th Dec. to the east or the 24th, but in those days, I was never going to do that.
So, the day came. The seat was N4,550, but I wasn't personally going to pay that amount. I had 5k with me, but instead, I asked for "obele oche" (attach). They told me 2k, and I was more than happy to pay.

Since Damaturu had no park for luxury buses, and since it was only GUO, The Young, and later, Gold, that was shuttling Maid to Onitsha at the time, we had to be at the park before 10am because the bus usually left Maiduguri around 9am. Damaturu to Maid was just an hour drive.

So, I waited, and this GUO luxury came. The bus was fine, sweet and looked chalachala. I hopped in, paid my 2k, and was happy. The bus was so filled up with attach people, but it was normal since as per long-distance, attach was a normal thing. The bus was so fast and crazily speedy. We enjoyed luxurious buses with good speed.

50 minutes into the long ride and we heard a loud blast sound. I thought it was a gunshot, but turned out a tire had blasted. We had not even reached the very popular Potiskum. We fixed the tire and moved on. This time the bus wasn't as fast as it was originally. We reached Potislum and checked it. Turned out there's something called a "balloon" close to the tire that was leaking. It prevented the vehicle from moving fast enough. We continued to move slowly, and by 7pm we were at Jos. On a norms, when you leave Damaturu by 10am, with the pace of that bus, we should've been in Jos by 3pm. We tried and tried until we reached Akwanga (Nassarawa) by 10pm. We then passed the night.
For those who travelled Maiduguri to Onitsha in those days, the parking place for buses was usually Obollo Afor (Enugu), but we were not even anywhere close to the state at that time.

The next morning, 18th Dec., mechanics tried and tried, but nothing came forth. Time was going and two people had already found their way by entering buses they saw on the road. 4pm, and youth corp members in the bus got angry. Those days, corpers looked so huge. Not like the 20-year-old boys we see wearing nysc attire} pppppup and down nowadays. They held the conductor on the jugular and asked for their money. It got so intense that they nearly dealt with the conductor. Driver was a big man with a big stomach, and he cared less. They eventually called another bus from Jos. By the time the bus arrived, it was past 6pm. Transloading started. Turned out the length of luxury buses aren't usually the same. It also turned out that those that load bags & luggage into buses from the park can never be compared to those that will load from outside it...
We moved, and 11pm, we got to Obollo. We rested till about 4:30am and continued our final destination to Onitsha. After the bus entered new road (that leads to 9th mile), the bus had a fault and the driver left us and went to sleep. Since everyone felt they were closer to home, they left him and started finding their way.

I had spent a lot of my money on food that I didn't have enough for even tfare again. From around like 6am, I and others were there waiting and thinking of what to do. People had left, and it was just me and 4 siblings. They had called their family from Delta to come and carry them, and around 4pm the driver came. I eventually entered the same bus with them and they dropped me at Onitsha.
I left 17th and was supposed to reach on the 18th morning, but reached on the 19th evening. Terrible experience. No bathing, broke, hungry, etc.

Not all new vehicles are as sound as they seem.

Your experience is mai-mai if compared to mine! I can't believe you created this thread because of that!

As I usually do, I called the hotel I always stay in Orleans, France. I informed the owner (I know him and family in person) that I was coming to spend 3 days. I was assured my favorite room would waiting for me.

I used my bag as a pillow while the rest of my body lay on the hard floor.

Imagine waking up in the morning on floor to see 4 pairs of white people's eyes moping at you wondering if you were homeless to sleep there. It was embarrassing. I was lucky, I wasn't robbed or died of cold.

It wasn't actually to compare who had the worst experiences, though. It was just for everyone to share theirs.

Yeah

My first trip to china years ago via Ethiopian airline, i forgot to set my wrist watch time and was using Nigerian time when i arrived Ethiopia on transit

I stayed at addis ababa airport chilling with beer and waiting for the transit flight. To my greatest surprise when i used my 9ja time to board the transit flight, they told me my flight left 1hour ago.

Omo i was so shocked and confused, but they told me i could get a visa to lodge and explore the country then come back the next night and join another Ethiopian airline flight for free.

This turned out to be one of my best experience because with only 100usd total for the visa free and exploring the town, i slept with 2 very beautiful Ethiopian olosho that night, they treated me perfectly as i have always dreamt of 3some, they allowed me smooch them d way i wished and do whatever i like unlike 9ja yeye olosho wey go dey give u conditions.

Funny story... Hope you neva carry HIV shaa

When I was in the university of ilorin many years ago my girlfriend then toyo came to visit me I was so drawn to her it was so difficult to let her return to her own university OAU. When she was eventuly returning, I decided to escort her down to ife we set out late from ilorin at about 7pm and the first soole bus stopped at osogbo. Now part 2 of the journey from osogbo to ile ife that was when the nightmare began it was already about 10pm and we could not find any soole bus going to ife at that time of the night. We walked to a nearby church and slept there and continued with our journey the following day

twice. one was onitsha-Lagos. had only the bus fare. didn't have the one that will take me home from Berger to sango. had to beg my way through. the second was Benin to ondo. I miscalculated and got stranded at ondo and ATM was rejecting me that day. my sister had to call a Reverend father who was in that vicinity to come to my aid. it's the worst situation one can be at that time

Picks Mic.
I feel so honored to win this FTC, the last time someone won FTC was in the days of Shagari, that was like 30 years ago.
All of my hardwork and dedication has paid off. Getting the top comment has been a dream of mine for many years, and i would like to thank those who have helped me along the way. First and foremost i would like to thank God for giving me this opportunity. Next i would like to thank my parents. I want to thank my cat Belle, for being really fat and always there for me. I would also like to thank my pet tadpole for surviving with me against all odds despite this lockdown. Next i would like to thank the squirrel that lives in my backyard for climbing trees because that gives me inspiration that i need to get through the day. I also want to think Max Rainer for giving me someone to beat in Mario Party. This is a special moment in my life and i would like to thank any of my unmentioned friends and family that have helped me along the way. This moment will be a moment that i will never forget. I just remembered a few other people i would like to thank; Seun, the fish i caught in Primary three, my light in my room because I wouldn’t be able to see the keyboard without it, the internet for letting claim this spot, my house because without it i would be homeless, and last but not least i would like to thank all the people out there that actually took time out of their day to read this. I cannot stress how much of a big deal to me this is. I have been trying to be the first comment on a post for years, but that has not been possible until this amazing day. Hopefully my good luck will continue, but this is undoubtedly a rare occasion. If you asked me how i did this, i would say, you can achieve anything u set your mind on. To all the kids out there reading this, i would like to tell them to follow their dreams. Being the top comment is amazing, thank you everyone.
Your own too shall come as you celebrate my success today.
Drops mic.
wink
After making me waste my mb on your long thanksgiving speech You still want to ftc next time ...

Lol, after NYSC Camp POP (Wanune, Benue State) at about 2-3pm, I was redeployed to Akwa-Ibom State. I just couldn't wait to leave the state and get to AKS, my friends told me to chill, that we will all travel the next day through the normal route (Benue - Enugu - Anambra - Imo - Abia - AkwaIbom), Omo na so I check my Google map, and I saw it was only Cross River state was in-between the two states. Taa, I told myself I will make it through. (Worst mistake).
Na so I go park, I saw only one cab going to Odupkani or so (can't really remember the name of that local government), the driver said I'd get a bus going to Calabar, and from there I will see a bus going to Uyo. My brothers and sisters, I didn't know I was on a long thing... We go to our destination Odupkani around 11pm oboy, as I got to the park it was just remaining one chance, and before I could say jack, someone jumped in... Choiii, another 18 seater come position.... Omo I just weak.
I had to call a friend serving in that location, he directed me to his lodge, got there around 12am. The next day, na so the real trip start. Finally got to Akwa-Ibom state around 1pm, partially because of bad road... This was around 2013.
Since then, I swore to always ask proper questions before embarking on trips, especially through places I'm not familiar with.

Greatest uniben!!!
Etinosa1234:

I experienced exactly this sometime in the year 2001.

Fresh out of Youth Service and after long months of fruitless job searches, i was in Owerri when my Uncle sent me a link for a Bank job exam in PH.

The exam was set at 12 noon on a wednesday or so.
From Owerri to PH was like an hour long drive; so i planned to set out that money, finish the exam and come back same day in the evening or at most, night.

And so, the day came and i set out.
On getting to the venue, i saw a huge crowd of applicants like me.
Some met old school mates and they got chatting.
I saw few familiar faces as well, but then all man were too tensed to do too much catch up.

We all sat waiting for 12noon. For the exam.
12noon turned to 1pm.
1pm turned to 2pm, and 3pm. No show.
It turned to 5pm and 6pm.

Very disorganised bank. I think it was ETB bank then.
We were all worried but couldn't leave.
At this late hour, they came and told us there was some problem and the exam would be held the next day.

I wondered how shallow they could be, believing everyone lived in PH.
I looked outside, it was already dark.
People began to leave, following the announcement.
Some made up to follow their friends to their houses and come back the next day.
I knew nobody i could follow home.
( How do you convince a total stranger to shelter you within few mins?)
I begin beg anyone i ran into. None worked.
I ran out and took a bike, with his help i found some cheap mosquito infested hotel and slept in. Terrible.
That was my last card( My TFare back to Owerri)

The next day i came.back to the venue and finally wrote the exam.
All through the exam, i kept wondering how i would go back home to Owerri.
As i narrated my ordeal to some guy after the exam, i didn't know there was this young lady who listened in as i spoke.
From behind, she came up and said, " I will help you with the Tfare."
I was struck. I was more than grateful and stuttered thanks in various languages to her.
I managed to have her phone number which she wrote down on a piece of paper and gave to me.
I was yet to own a phone as GSM was new and i was broke.

I made it home close to midnight that day.
I couldn't forget that lady and held onto her phone number for a long time.
And one day, as i sat outside to wash my clothes; our dog playfully picked on my wallet and rolled with it.
I can't tell how it's teeth snapped on the paper, on the very lady's numbers on the paper.
As much as i stared into it, i realized i couldn't place the numbers again.
I beat that dog like mad that day.
I beat myself too, knowing it was my first fck up.

I remembered when I was traveling to Climax with Ebele having just #200 on me. There was downpour and the express was wet, I mean so wet. I had to pull over to get a raincoat because we were doing 200kmph and there is a high tendency that I'll skid off the express and head straight to the bushy porch.

I wore my raincoat immediately I sensed danger and before I knew it, I was off the slippery express and stucked in the bushy muddy porch. I kept on maneuvering going back & forth with no result, Ebele kept on smiling and complimenting my driving skills.

After some minutes, I was outta the porch with a flat tyre. It was drizzling this time and the express still wet. We looked for a vulcaniser to inflate my tyre so that we can continue our journey but didn't find any.

That was how Ebele begged and encouraged me to do a 40kmph, we all reached Climax the next day.
