Peterobi90:

So corona no longer starts from one individual..

What was the law?... the law was clearly spelt out.. the only request was "obey the law".

seunlayi:

Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God. Whosoever therefore resisteth the power, resisteth the ordinance of God: and they that resist shall receive to themselves damnation.
Romans 13:1-2

... Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams.

And to the leaders

Daniel 2:21 β€œHe changes times and seasons; he removes kings and sets up kings; he gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to those who have understanding.”

God is the One Who plucks up and puts down leaders. He is the One Who removes and sets up kings and kingdoms, including those who have authority over us. Their day of justice will come so we must trust God to execute His righteousness in time and not take it into our own hands.

Cantonese:

Thankfully you said "a civilized society". Do you truthfully believe that the Nigerian society is a civilized one? Do you call it braggado? Sorry, I disagree with you bro. Leadership comes with certain responsibilities. Part of the responsibilities is the enforcement of laws. In civilized societies people live by laws. Nigerians hypocritically travel to other countries and obey their laws right from the airport. The ones in prisons all over the world broke their laws. Whoever went there to complain? Followership also has its responsibilities, part of which is abiding by laws.

We cannot continue so recklessly in this country. Wike's actions may be seen as extreme but truthfully some people in this country need those measures. Now you may ask how many of those on the affected local governments were found disobeying? Those who obey, should we can them fools? Do they not need food in their homes?

This country truthfully needs strong leaders who are able to put things in the right perspectives.

Painfully you do not seem to realise that some governors are economical with the truth about figures. We all sincerely pray that the figures do not skyrocket. But Wike is honest enough about not letting it escalate beyond control.

Just like everyone screamed to the heavens against PMB if Wike fails to take control he will be held respondible in the event of a big breakout of the virus in Rivers state.

Too many contradictions and poor understanding of the rule of law, societal expectations, and civilized behavior. How do you break the law, display poor judgment, and uncivilized behavior while trying to enforce the law? It makes no sense.

In the same civilized societies, you referenced where they obey the law, they not only obey the law, they also apply the law like civilized people, not like thugs, hooligans and banana republic goons.

In the USA, a lady in Dallas violated their COVID-19 lockdown laws because she opened her beauty salon for business, she was arrested and charged, but her business wasn't touched or destroyed, this is how they enforce the law in civilized societies.

You obviously are either confused, you don't know how truly behave and enforce the laws in civilized societies because, in civilized societies, they expect their people to obey the law, but they also apply their laws based on the rule of law and due process.

You'll never see a governor in the USA or any civilized society arrogate judicial powers to themselves by charging, prosecuting, convicting, rendering judgments and enforcing the judgment by leading a demolition squad to destroy private businesses all in one day and on the spot.

Is this your poor and warped understanding of the rule of law and civilized behavior?

You sound like a terrible and a repressive leader in the making, but I do hope and pray that you are not in any leadership position now or in the future.

Am sure this man will sue the Govt.

The man should sue the Rivers State Government. Wike is a lawyer and knows clearly he acted outside the ambit of the law. You can't be the accuser, the prosecutor and the judge on the same case. What Wike did is wickedness and flagrant abuse of power!

Buhari went to court to get justice. Did Wike take the owner of the hotel to court? The answer is no.
Mind you, only a judge can decide who is guilty or not.

Wike of all people, a lawyer should know what is called fair hearing before prosecution. He should pay for his mistake. I hope the hotelier will pursue recompense

when okada was banned in lag, was any of the defaulters charged to court b4 their okada seized? or they out rightly seized anyone they caught?
we are not talking of the order
We are talking about the enforcement of the order. The governor cannot be the complainant and at the same time the judge of his own case.

Obey the law and you would be fine..
Blackman with black mentality. Pulling down a hotel is a no brainer. Best would have been sealing it up and an heavy fine. Beheading can never be a medicine for headache.
Hypocricy is our undoing in Nigeria. Imagine if this is done to ur personal asset, how will u feel?
And NIGERIANS want countries like CHINA & S.AFRICA to treat us well?
Until we start treating ourselves right before other see us as humans.

somehow:
No, a right-thinking governor will close down the hotel and fine them, not to demolish it.

Wouldn't the former have done the same thing?
Will you employ those who have lost their jobs to the demolition?
will you feed the family of the owner?
If they go into crime and attack you and your family tomorrow, who do you blame?

He was not protecting anyone, rather exposing them to violence from the angry enemies he's making!

Wait, how many cases do they currently have in Rivers State?

Is head beheading the solution to an headache?

How much did his government spent wasted in demolishing those 2 hotels compared to if it was temporary sealed?

Why not move to court and get warrant.

Why is nobody blaming the hotelier for disobeying the government's directive, even after being told specifically that they would have their hotels demolished if they operate during the lockdown period?

the hotel owner said he did not break any law. Only the court can decide if he break law or not. Why destroying his hotel without any Court order? Wike is the complainant, he cannot be the judge of his case at the same time.
