Yes. Two rats.
Eliminate the rats in your house and the snakes will not have business in your house.

It is a baby-cobra and it's dangerously poisonous. Block all holes in your house and make sure your doors and windows are always closed. I killed one in my house last week, the first time we're seeing snake inside our apartment. There are chemicals and flowers that repel snakes. Get some like I did.

Thank God it didn't hurt you
What flowers please?
Can you take a photo for me please

I just Google it. Black mamba takes 20mins. Lol

So the snake you felt was very poisonous, isn't so poisonous.

That is still untrue... Black mamba's venom takes effect in 45mins or less but not 20mins. And for a fact, inland taipan is the most venomous snake in the world, the venom delivered in a single bite can kill 100 fully grown adult human being. You can google this one too

Read and comprehend. Don't just try to contradict without making any sense.

You really need to learn to use your internet to confirm something too before you start posting. You said it KILLS in 20mins or you lack basic knowledge of English too? No venom 'kills' in 20mins. Venom might start showing effects but not kill. That is what i'm saying, y'all won't understand something but be willing to argue unnecessarily. Who is not making any sense now?

Your mistake be say the head still dey intact. Next time pieces the head. That is the only weapon they have.

Go to the nearby chemists...they will give u something to spray in ur compound. Always make sure your toilet seat covers are closed when not in use.

Is it possible fir snakes to enter the apartment thru the man hole in the ceiling of a one-dtorey building? Been wondering!

It’s very possible if the building was built with those oxitosin kinda rods, the smell of the rod can attract some species of snake especially the black mamba that is highly poisonous, it kills it prey within 20minutes with just a bite.
If the building is also painted with a paint that contains fermented cassava, it produces a chemical that allows a cobra to sight the building from afar and finally finds its way in.

Maybe you be reconciling with those you have deliberately offended in the past or better still be very prayerful. Every snake has a venom and that makes them poisonous at all times.
Re: I Killed This Snake Near My Toilet At Midnight, Help Needed (Photo) by Nobody: 4:21pm On May 14, 2020
Although they look scary and can actually bite when they feel threatened most snakes in the house are not poisonous. All the same follow tunderoc's advice

Oga every snake is harmful...I don't know about this particular breed joins say j know many type of snakes.

Lol, every animal in Africa is harmful, they have one weapon or the other. Africa is hash, so everything in it evolved to be hash even human beings. Check how cruel and wicked an average african man is you will know how dangerous other animals are, forget Oyibo, this snake is echu mmiri and its poisonous. It likes chicken and eggs.

That's one harmful snake right there. Looks like black mamba though. It's poison kills within 5mins.
All snakes on Nairaland naa black mamba.....naso black mamba common reach naa him everybody never die of snakebite. Black mambas are named that because of the mouth is black. it's skin(scales) is rarely black and it's mainly found in sub-sahara Africa. Infact it's presence in west Africa has always been disputed. So that is to tell you people that if ever found in Nigeria, it is a rare occurrence. It's annoying seeing that every snake is with black skin is black mamba in Nigeria.

@Op firstly, there are rats in your house, there's a need to rid your house of rats "number 1 thing that attracts snakes". 2. This snake chase a rat into your soak away and couldn't find its way out, so it follow the only place where with its forked tongue sense oxygen, which is your toilet bowl. Many do believe that the water in the closet go all along to the soak away, NO it ends right after the U-bend that's why if you open the chamber at the back you find it dry. 3 get bottles of sniper and empty it into your toilet bowl and flush at least twice to kill other crawling stuffs breeding in your soak away. 4. Your 2 soak away pit are connected together, pls get a plumber to disconnect it, or expect more crawling visitors plus you may find out you spend more treating malaria as you will have mosquitoes and other insects infestation as result of your connected soak away.

You have the most sensible post here. Keep it up. I have personally learnt from your post

Its most likely poisonous because of the color combination and skin texture. A close up picture would help identify it better.
But it looks like a cobra or a mamba.

There is a rule of thumb I always tell people to follow.
If a rat can enter your house, then a snake can enter too.

Block all holes, keep the environment clean, clear all bushes around.
Make sure your fence doesn't have holes, cement the top of the fence if it isn't cemented.
Dispose your waste as frequently as possible. They attract rats and rats attract snakes.
Fumigate often, not just inside, but outside as well.

I heard bitter kola repels them . Not sure if it does.

I read somewhere that garlic helps, lemon grass does too

This is great. Thank you very much sir.
I really do not understand that 2 soak away part. There are two apartments in the house. One soak away each and they are far from each other. I have been spraying chemicals. The chemical will kill the cockroaches and worms enmasse, but they will still come back later.
I will still pour more chemicals and cover the holes tomorrow and I will also yield to your other advices.
Can you throw more light on that soak away part and do you think the snake offsprings will be in my house? Thanks.
Two bottles of sniper mixed with 2 liters of Kerosene. Pour inside the cistern and flush. It will destroy every living thing inside that soak away. Tested and trusted combo

I never said it was black. Do you know what a gray colour looks like? The moment you get to know what all shades of gray looks like then we can have an incisive argument.

That snake is a black mamba you can argue with your gods, the length and colour says. If you have prove it isn't then come forth.

I don't agree with you.

A black mamba body is "totally" gray in color. It is only totally black inside the mouth.

That snake in the OPs picture is definitely not a black mamba.

wrong question. there is no snake that isn't harmful even boar without poison is dangerous. avoid//seal those holes around your house, do everything possible to get rid of snakes around your environment. snakes are dangerous no matter the specie or breed. snake na snake. no small snake no big snake
