Johnnyessence: Under fashola's era, that drainage was cleared at least once in every 2 months. Your so called savior Ambode entered and abandoned the drainage which was not cleared for 4 years which led to the dirt getting that much. This drainage is part of other drainages which were not cleared by your so called saviour. Sanwo entered and started clearing the drainages. If you observe that picture and video, you will see the heap of dirt at the left end. Those dirts were formerly inside that canal and recently cleared (work in progress) before it rained cat and dogs yesterday. Ambode was a failure in sanitation and drainage control which aided excessive flooding during his tenure. The mess is what Sanwo is trying to clear. See below picture to buttress my claim.

Recycling is the only solution to all these waste. The government needs to create more plastic recycling plants round the country. |

jneutron4000: Surulere used to be very neat up till the late 90s' until those people started swamping into the area in their millions. They just throw their trash anywhere, gutter, roads etc. because it is not their region. How I wish Lagos State govt. can set up a taskforce to review illegal structures in Surulere and demolish them all. 3 Likes 1 Share |

NaijaRoyalty: No now. But it's not only Yoruba people that inhabits Lagos. Lagos as the commercial centre of Africa accommodates anyone, Hausa, Igbo, Hutu, Tutsi, Zulu, Chinese, Indian, Lebanese, Americans, londoners, I even think Lagos would be better off if it's only Yorubas that stay there |

flokii: Oga to be frank With you, your people are the greatest culprit. They don't want to pay for waste disposal and as such at night they pack all their refuse inside the drainage. I'm speaking from what I'm seeing everyday in Surulere. 2 Likes 1 Share |

Johnnyessence: Sanwo olu is doing well in terms of drainage control. For 4 years, Ambode didnt clear the drainages which led to so much work to do. I believe in continuity. That canal was work in progress before the rain started. Ambode was a failure in Sanitation and drainage control. |

Some people are really stupid and they refuse to have sense, they know that plastic doesn't rot like orange yet they throw all manner of rubbish on the streets and in the gutters like they are in their villages. We really have a long way to go in this country. 1 Like |

Nigeria produces enough waste to supply free electricity, power vehicles and so on...yet no one makes use of it. The amount of cars that move on third mainland bridge everyday is enough to provide electricity to parts of Lagos Island or neighbouring places around it but the kinetic energy goes to waste. All we do is waste. We steal, we embezzle, we beg nations, we import, we use and we waste it all in the end. Nigeria is a waste of one's life at this point. Nothing functions anymore Go learn from Sweden: https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.nytimes.com/2018/09/21/climate/sweden-garbage-used-for-fuel.amp.html 1 Like |
