I heard that in Dubai Nigerians now have a new strategy of committing crime in markets, they move around with pepper spray, or pepper doused in water if they see a wealthy Arab carrying a bag in a secluded or isolated area. They would walk asif they are just passing u then pour the pepper into your eyes.

As u go for your eyes screaming from the pains they would flee with your bags. This is the kind of evil criminal mindset Nigerians keep displaying
Shut up..Such can't happen in Dubai cause there is camera everywhere.. And why would you generalize by saying Nigerians?

Nigeria own is different, most white fraudsters don't use fake ids as they are already white, that one apart the ratio of fraudsters to citizen is very low.

But in Nigeria, almost everybody knows at least one fraudster in person. Imagine that.

Nothing strange here other than the merchant informing you that some international credit card companies "might" decline use of their credit cards on some Nigerian merchant sites. Just the way some Nigerian bank debit and credit cards dont work on some FX/ crypto currency trading sites. Asides that, some Nigerian merchants and especially this site may generally prefer debit card payments especially to counter cases of charge backs and stories associated with Credit cards.

Like I said. Nothing strange here. (Edited for those quoting me)
In many international merchant sites not even Nigerian, you may have to call your bank to allow the credit card payment through.
Only difference here is the merchant (Nigerian immigrations) is giving you a heads up that it may not work.

Not all CCs automatically work on all merchant sites. It has nothing to do with Nigeria or what not.

This oIdefinitely disagree with..your card only gets declined if you have no money on it..you reported it stolen or its expired and also if its Mastercard, some merchants will not accept it cos of the processing fees..no one will decline your card based on where you reside here in the states or Europe

The country is f@#%&d and the sooner the youths decide to save the country, the better

Isn't it strange that display is on the website of Nigeria Immigration service? Are you trying to renew from overseas?

Edited. I didn't see Canada when i made my comment earlier, I thought you were in Nigeria. Nonetheless, that is a common occurrence when using Naira denominated cards online.

This has nothing to do with past or present government.

Terrible Nigerians have and sadly continue to activate RED flag for genuine Nigerians.

I posted something about fraud on my WhatsApp status sometime ago and yahooguys on my contact list were telling me that politicians are the cause of fraud lol. That Interpol and the rest should arrest politicians and leave yahooboys alone,I was like you’re right about government not trying but the innocent people you guys are defrauding are they responsible for the bad governance in this country? No. So,if they’re so eager to scam they should scam the politicians that messed up the country not innocent foreigners.
Because of the activities of these fraudsters foreigners don’t trust Nigerians anymore. You’ll go through unwarranted and unnecessary checks at airports just because you’re a Nigerian while other folks from countries like South Africa won’t be checked.
If you tell these guys to stop engaging in fraud they’ll say you’re hating or jealous
Talking about bad governance,is Nigeria the only country with bad governance in the world? Venezuela and Zimbabwe e.t.c are countries with bad governance yet their citizens don’t go about scamming innocent foreigners because of the situation in their country.

Most Nigerians just have a criminal and get rich quick mentality and this has nothing to do with the state of governance in the country because most of them take this same disgusting mentality to countries with good governance e.g USA and Canada.
Brother, God will bless you for this comment. I’ve met people from Yemen, Somalia, Zimbabwe and other countries that are way worse than Nigeria but these people don’t have the criminal get rich quick mentality of many Nigerians. Yahoo boys are idi.ots who are only using bad governance as an excuse. Why did Invictus and Hush Puppi not hustle legitimately after they left Naija? See, if you take all these Lagos yahoo boys to the US, give them jobs that pay a living wage, they will still look for means to defraud people. There are many of such people in US feds prisons as we speak. Why? The problem is not poverty or wanting to survive. It’s the impatient urge to buy Benz, live a life of luxury and enjoy things that are ephemeral. They only lie about bad governance - take them to Apple - give them jobs - they will never want to live on their salaries but still think of how they will defraud the company.

Those guys are a shame and disgrace to Nigeria. I cannot even introduce myself as a Nigerian without people thinking I’m a fraudster. Yahoo boys will die a miserable death! Nonsense.

Nigerians are scammers, please be careful of young and old Nigerian scammers.
Nigerians in government are also scammers.
For your own protection, hide that your Nigerian identity to avoid being arrested.

While other nations are making efforts to move forward, the people trapped in the Niger-area are held back and pulled in a tug of war by fulanization policies, to race back to the dark ages era of the history of human development. Otherwise how could any right thinking man believe that a senile war booty general, without a clear proof of senior secondary education, can rule a nation of more than 500 languages in this epoch of complex race and battles for national relevance, in a continuously globally digitalized world.

You will keep on crying. Yahoo will continue.

Use this same energy you have against innocent YahooBoys, hit the streets and protest against bad governance.

Leave yahoo boys alone, they are not the cause of your problems.

You are a disgrace and you and your fellow Yahoo boys will all die miserable deaths for bringing us this shame. Is Nigeria the only country with bad governance in the world? If it’s about bad governance, why do you fools get to countries like US, Dubai, UK and the likes and still go ahead to scam people instead of working - since you are now in a country that works?

You all are bunch of greedy idiots who want to ride Benz and live lavishly off the sweat of innocent people but you will all end up in prison and die miserably. To hell with all of you and your enablers.

Elder0001, I have known you from time immemorial....and I hold u in high esteem as per your sense of reasoning and contribution on nairaland...

You attacked me by saying I'm glorifying scam, I no vex...

I simply asked you to prove it if scam is only Nigeria thing..I asked how sure are you .. now you throwing back the question to me. This clearly shows you are not sure of what you posted..

Your use of "anyhow" as bolded means those countries scam too.. but the reason for that is what neither me nor you are sure of..

Ogbeni, stop justifying and glorifying crime. If you have ever traveled outside of Nigeria, you will realize that no African country has the shameful reputation Nigeria has for cybercrime. Haven’t you heard of the Nigerian Prince stereotype before? Have you ever seen any of such stereotype for Zimbabweans, Somalians, Sudanese or any other country that is way worse than Nigeria?

People like you that try to justify the activities of those useless Yahoo Boys - who will all die miserable deaths are part of the problem. Those boys are ruining things for innocent and honest Nigerians.
