Ok then. The job is a mon-fri 8-5 and could require traveling. Transport a month is 6k and rent is 8k/month. This is a place where I don’t have family or friends. Other bills haven’t been added. I will really like you sir to tell me why I should take the job. I’m a novice. And also don’t conclude I’m going to sit at home.
You need this job to learn so many things, dealing with people, managing your resources, planning, being independent, specialist software that may become very useful in the future etc. The money could be the last thing, but do you know your next job(bigger job) could be from someone you meet at this firm through relationships and connection you make there? Most of the time, learn to look beyound the money. As a fresh graduate from a Nigerian public University, you dont really have skills, you learn those and atimes you can learn some of these at this place. However, while on this job, have target for yourself. Never see this place as where you are comfortable with, be descipline and avoid woman and trying to marry . Cultivate the hunger to have a better life. Those telling you not to pick this job will not pick your bills if you stay at home. Best of luck

The position is same thing with what I did at ppa nysc. Being independent and all that I learnt that since uni days. But man you not looking at the fact that I won’t be able to survive on that money? I will certainly beg before month end if I take the job lol and definitely not performing efficiently. How about saying better options are waiting for me at the front? Lol if you have an offer for me I will take it up man.

Oga take the offer. To get a better job out there, you need experience. This could be your stepping stone.... the experience you will gain there goes a long way. Also be on the look out for better offer.

Yeah. If I got the job at a place where I probably won’t pay rent or transport i would have managed it. But it’s in a place where I have to do everything myself. I understand your view and it’s baffling that you don’t see anything wrong in the 30k and rent and t fare is about 14k. How about feeding? Or emergency funds? Lol

Boss, can I learn freelance skill from you ?

I'm ready to pay to learn.
please

I can't guarantee you my type of earnings, that would be me taking advantage of you..I earn more than that but it took me years, from freelancer to Fiverr to Upwork to others before I could get here...Basically I design logos and brands, I also do a lil Forex, also into e currency exchange and I also invest my money in farms and other things....I will not be like others who will say pay this and I can make you earn like me, that is a lie..Or I will show you how I make blah blah blah in 1 month.

My experience was kinda similar with yours. over a decade ago after my NYSC I was offered a job where I served but due to the fact that the money wasn't huge for a person like me that "my mouth is wide" grin

I relocated to my base in Lagos,& within a month got various offers from different companies, among them was a new generation bank.

I weighed my options and settled for the best among my offers & resumed at my new job exactly a moth after my NYSC. I never regretted moving back to Lagos after my service.

If you don't exploit new avenue, you'd be stagnant at your comfort zone hence you'll be limited.

You have given us little information to work with to give an advice.

We do not know your career aspiration, what job you got, distance of workplace to your home, what you studied in school, when you finished school.

Personally, if I made a 2.1 and still freshly out of school, I am not taking a 30k job.

I said this until hunger wire me.

I just want to know why you come here for advice when you actually have a decision already. Just take your decision and I pray God make it work out for you.

I know someone that made a very good 2:1 from OAU. He served in the north and immediately after his service, he got a job that paid him 30k. He didnt say because he had a 2.1 and lots of skill set, he would not take the 30k job. 6 months later, salary got increased to 40k. Another 7 months later, he got the opportunity to apply for graduate trainee position in the same company he worked with. Due to his experience, he was offered the position and his pay increased from 40k to 110k.
The guy had to potential of earning 400k monthly within 3 years if he decided to stay with the company. But he decided to quit after 1 year of being a grad trainee.
He now makes 10x of what he was making then on a monthly basis.

What did he do: He used part of the 30k monthly salary to get trained in Software Testing while looking for other better opportunities. He was lucky and the software testi g training opened up the opportunity of a good job for him and now, he's doing relatively ok.

You know who this guy is? The guy is ME.

Moral of the story: Never despise the days of your humble beginnings.Take the job, better yourself with any IT training and keep your eyes and ears open for better stuffs out there. God bless your hustle bruh..

What is software testing?
