sisisioge: A country home is very important in Igbo land and happenings like this would never change that. It is one thing that brings us home and a crucial part of our culture that I am proud of. Why would I bury my father in Lagos? Am I mad? |

Sunsets: Oh, thanks for the explanation. Obviously the immediate family is trying to use the corpse of the man to secure a piece while their uncles want the man to be buried in front of his house. |

PowerGlory: Have you people in nairaland seen the whole details. My people says that If you pass judgement with only one party's side of the story, You the judge is guilty. Try to verify whatever you hear before making a conclusion. Igbo this, igbo that have you all seen the truth. @OP, young girl i pity your late dad. He must have died an unhappy married man. I have a lot to tell you and your mother but let me reserve my comments . I pity some unlucky married gentlemen. They're in hellfire already. R.I.P. 2 Likes |

Thegamingorca: It is not different, but it our ancestral root. We can wake tomorrow and sell the house in Lagos, but we can never do that to the one in the village. Forget the “Lagos is a no man’s land”, that one is to find trouble. Na hustle we come hustle for Lagos. When e reach time to do certain things, we find our way back home. |

This girl is foolish to drag Igbos into her feminist fight. I won't swallow this until i hear from the other party. Your Father's corpse was abandoned in his room. Where were his children? You no get brother? Did you take your uncle's or relations along to deposit the corpse? You obviously buried the man without the kinsmen knowledge. What was the relationship b/w you and your father when he was alive? What was Ur dead father's relationship with your mum? For the fact that his dead corpse was abandoned shows the children never cared about the man This girl is more of a rebel and disrespectful girl. Don't judge a case from the mouth of a party. Trying to bring Igbo culture and her hatred for Igbo into the picture shows the kind of useless girl she is There are many contradictory statements in your story. |

[quote author=PowerGlory post=95274248] Stop making stupid insinuations, go to Oguta, Imo State and get your facts right. The house is not hidden and the uncles are more than rich to drag a piece of land which a house is built on. Why would a 67year old man, a father and the first son of the family be buried behind his own house? Ask the girl to tell you the full story and why they always fight their father. You see? Always fighting their father. They killed their father and rushed his corpse to the mortuary without notifying any of his brothers so that his kinsmen will not know how they killed him. Upon killing him, the wicked mother and daughter are not yet satisfied. They wanted to humiliate him eternally by burying him at the backyard and in another person's land. No wonder the bible says that It's better to be poor than to be rich and get married to a delilah. Men be careful of the character and natural behaviour of any woman you want to marry. Beauty and physique should be secondary. ODIEGWU!!!!!!!! 1 Like |

sisisioge: Burying him in Lagos wouldn’t have made anything better. Would they bury him without fulfilling rites or informing his kinsmen? While I agree that our burial (post and pre) processes should be made easier, I also have to state that burying away from home is not an option. Not one I will consider. Yes, it is a proud culture to know the road that leads home and this takes nothing off it. And we hope the children carry on the countryside culture lipsrsealed That is left to them. |

pocohantas: Oh my! Yes we bury him as we please! As for his kinsmen, they can check our status for the obituary or get a courtesy phone call. That's all! Imagine how distraught the family he left behind is because they want to involve some MFs in their father's burial. It is well shall...I'm not Igbo so I won't even try to understand the motive behind involving none family members in loved ones burials like this. 3 Likes |

PowerGlory: Worst thing that could happen to any man in life!! Dang!! Get married because of old age,, get married because of old age.. Some men became unfortunate in life at old age.. A lot of married men don’t enjoy marriages at old age.. Was at a chilling spot few weeks ago then this man came around to chill. After few mins, he received a call and started saying... “ I don’t have a good/supportive wife. I’m always lonely even tho we stay together. The only time I do go out for drinking is when I’m feeling extremely lonely.” I’ve learned a lot when it comes to marriage and I really appreciate that.. |

Some people thought their own ways of reason is the best, but this lady could have study the instruction her brethrens are giving before opposing their intention since the dead body must be burried. |

PowerGlory: I see. @OP Your father's kinsmen are very kind and soft. You and your evil spirit controlled wicked mother intentionally and conspiraciousely killed their brother and they are dealing with you devils with kidgloves. In some cultures in igbo land a very close relative of the dead man would have singlehandedly dealt with you and your mother with everything at his disposal that you wount even know where nairaland is talkless of coming here to type rubbish against your people's noble native cultures of which you have intentionally decided to disrespect and disregard because of your callousness. @OP From what i see here. I'm very very very sorry for that young man that will make the greatest mistake of his life by getting married to you. Your late father's experiences and nightmares will be a child's play to the kind of delicacies you daughter of a delilah will dish out to him. My dear young men beware her Ooooooo!!!!!!! 1 Like |

PowerGlory: I knew something was sketchy when she said the man was decaying in her room. Like what took the man to her room? And if he died of illness like someone of his age she would have pointed that out. Please you need to create a thread on this because I know that no Igbo kinsmen will allow their kinsman to be treated like this without getting justice. If you read through her article you'll notice that she made no point but rode on the lie that "Igbo culture is rude to women" but she doesn't know about the culture at all. She is dealing with ụmụnna that have mercy and they are sweating, when the umuada will descend on her and her mother. Nairaland and Nigeria won't even contain all of them because then it will be women vs women 3 Likes |

IkpuNnegiEwu44:I don't know these people, they are being too lenient on that evil woman and her daughter. They should shift and allow umuada to handle this issue, it's their area of expertise. Doesn't the man have sisters at all? The girl is trying to use the old trick of women vs men to escape prosecution and justice. The kinsmen should not allow the sleeping dog to lie this time, they should give way for umuada 2 Likes |

Oracleforce:Culture is made for a specific set of people. Stop viewing others own from your own perspective and most importantly, ban poverty from your life. None of my relatives have been buried like a chicken from time immemorial and I won't be buried like a chicken. My full respect will be paid that day to show that I attained something in life. Poverty is a curse |

Bkayyy: Culture my foot....there are some civilized countries like China, the US, UK, etc that has adopted the process of cremation for corpse ....supposing that bill has been passed to law maybe your corpse will be kept in a coca-cola bottle or a nylon bag for future reference...after all, it is a sign of honor |

Oracleforce:DO you realize that cremation is their Buddhist culture? One thing wrong with you Africans is that most of you don't know is that all these European ways you are adopting is their special culture which doesn't apply to most Europeans. In northern Nigeria, they bury people the day they died which they thought is Islamic culture but don't know it is actually Arabic culture. Christians do procession before burying which is a serious Roman culture, not even that of English people. Culture is for a particular set of people. It is only ignorant people that go on air to criticize theirs without first asking for reforms within themselves 1 Like |

For example and indigene of Onitsha marrying an indigene of Onitsha, the official bride price is far below 10000 naira other things can come as gift . I won't tell you the exact money to avoid see finish. Just know that it is below, might be very far below or a little below |
