This is just a diplomatic thanks for allowing them into our soil to conduct the operation, all of you above saying the Nigerian military was involved don't understand the message, did he thank the Nigerian military or the Nigerian government, you think if our military had a hand in it, they wouldn't have been loud with it, even we here in Nigeria did not know an operation was going on, our military that would loud all their strategies even before they attack boko haram, abegi make we hear word, America kudos to you guys...

Thanks for this, was explaining same thing to do dumb fellow, and they still didn’t get it! No Nigerian force was involved in this operation! Trump never acknowledged Nigerian government in his tweets...

Good point, however in this case the US confirmed that they had Nigerian support prior.
They're just being courteous bro.I can wager my last dime they didn't.
Remember all the air bases and other assets they used were in Niger Republic and Germany.
They rarely tell anybody whenever they go for these type of operations talk more of a govt that is openly sympathetic to terrorists like buhari

Suicide is when u choose to kidnap an America citizen here in Nigeria. Between, that US farmer must be a CIA agent gathering Intel here in Northern Nigeria for the US and using farming as his cover cos i see no reason why someone will leave US and come to Nigeria to farm even if his village people are after him.

This is just a diplomatic stunt. The Nigerian govt used diplomatic lines to get to pentagon to make a release like this just to save face.

I was with an officer last night (capt) and tried picking his brain. From my convo with him, it was clear the army had no prior knowledge about this mission.

Have you heard a single word from Nigeria official about the mission.

zilch, US will never inform a country like Nigeria for a mission like that.

His farm was in Niger Republic but you are right.

It has secret operative written all over it.

Read between the lines.
Is he the only American in captivity aboard?

The kidnapped American is I am certain a Counter-terrorism spy working in the West African region for the CIA or Special Forces.

They can't risk such an asset falling into the hands of terrorists.
That will put a lot of their counter-terrorism programmes in jeopardy.

Many Nigerians spend all their lives abusing, undermining and unrating your country.

It seems you guys watch too much Hollywood movies, you all think the US government will just jump into Nigeria without Nigerian government support. It is not done anyway. There are rules and diplomatic guidelines.

Nigeria is a sovereign nation not a country in war.

Most people having a career from abusing Nigeria, if you check their BP, it is very high, no wonder, they die at 45 years old.

The country is not a perfect one but atleast instead of being bias, give some respect when it is needed.

The post is just a sign that they understand the polity here.
If they actually worked with Nigeria government, they would have refrenced us in the official statement from Pentagon not the US mission in Nigeria mentioning us while retweeting the original news.

Truth be told.... The fact that our military and so called DSS have failed to rescue and account for all missing girls taken by Boko Haram, Leah Shuaibu, health workers, etc, will remain an everlasting and irredeemable stain on the integrity and usefulness of the leadership of this nation!!!

It is embarrassing that it took few American soldiers operating far from home to achieve within days, what our own soldiers would never achieve in a decade... And the Americans did it so effectively and intelligently without a scratch on themselves!!!

If you are a Nigerian, and not ashamed or still making noise here instead of hanging your head in shame, I can only pity you!!!

Okay. Could have been possible the Nigerian Forces were notified not on the mission but permission to access the airspace. That mission was too classified.
This is just face saving gesture. There is no way they would have given a headsup to Nigeria considering how sensitive the mission was. Besides it has been alledged the abductors are Fulani (Reuters). Ie Brothers to our government.

The Americans just gave the Nigerian govt yards to save face...I gather there is utter confusion and embarassment in Nigerian military circles over this and that's why the Nigerian military or govt have still not released a statement 48 hours after

Because Chibok girls were kidnapped thus it now justifies Buhari's actions for Bokoharam an fulani herdsmen bandits to continue to ply their kidnapping trade?

You want your country to be great yet you seize every opportunity to rubbish her in the eyes of the world. You can't eat your cake and have. Our police and army have rescued several kidnap persons before. We read in the report that there is an American that have been held for 4 year. So, in the war against crime, you win some and gain some even for the special forces
