Former governor of Delta State, Chief James Ibori was on Thursday finally extradited to the United Kingdom from the United Arab Emirates over allegations of stealing about $292 million in state funds and funneling the money to British banks.

Femi Babafemi, spokesman for the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission , EFCC , confirmed to the Associated Press Friday that Ibori was taken from Dubai on Thursday.

Babafemi said it was " a warning signal to others" after Ibori escaped arrest in Nigeria by fleeing to Dubai.

Dubai's highest court ordered Ibori's extradition to UK in December last year but he was able to delay the execution through series of legal manipulations. He was kept in detention while challenging the extradition order.

British police confirmed Friday that Ibori was flown to Heathrow with a police escort and was now in its custody in West London.

Ibori is expected to face several trials in the UK relating to money laundering and theft. His wife, Theresa; his sister, Christine Ibie-Ibori; and a mistress, Udoamaka-Okoronkwo (nee Onuigbo) have already been jailed in the UK for similar offences.

Only on April 1, his UK lawyer, Bhadresh Gohil, was given a 10-year sentence.

I just watched, on ChannelsTV,Bakare explain his side of the story, and it does not look good for the Tinubu side of this( I say Tinubu because I know Ribadu is not dumb enoiugh to come up with what Bakare accused their side of doing).

Tinubu is a big time crook. Didnt even know he was the same dude all along. . . .freaking dope dealer!

Now,I'm pretty sure he regretting his dumb move seeing as his boy aint winning shiyyt!
Re: Tinubu and Co Have Damaged My Candidacy- - - - -Ribadu by Kobojunkie: 10:22pm On Apr 16, 2011
According to Bakare, he was presented a post-dated letter(post-dated for June 2011) stating that after being signed in on May 29th, he would turnaround and step down so that an ACN VP will replace him. Now, for those who do not know, that is actually unconstitutional, and I don't think Ribadu, himself a lawyer, would have come up with such a suggestion. At least I am hoping he didn't. But then again, this is Bakare's side of what happened.

^^^^^^

Those are they jokers that want to take over.

At least if one claims to be the change Nigeria needs, they ought to at least show by their actions that they are better than those they want to remove.

I am not certain both are jokers as you claim. If anything, I think Ribadu made a mistake in this by not taking on more of the decision making here. He was the one arranged to step down -- he is a lawyer and should have made sure that he considered this more thoroughly, at least for his side of this. If it turns out that Bakare's story is true ( I read from the main article that it is similar to Ribadu's side of this), then I choose to hold Ribadu responsible for the fall.

I expected the union to come up with something more like ACN getting to select some of the FEC members in the end, or something along that line. Not Try to ILLEGALLY replace the VP after the elections ( it was clearly too late to do so prior).

A relatively good man like ribadu should not lay waste. I suggest he tries the senate in 2015. Then presidency at a later time. It's time we elect new people into office. New generation of politicians. The old guard should give way now. We need people who were either govs, senators, ministers recently to be the ones going for presidential elections. Not people who ruled 20-30 yrs ago. We have capable new guys and they should be tried.

People should stop blaming ACN, TINUBU, FASHOLA, AKANDE, LAI n co.
The main aim of the failed alliance is to put resources together to counter the ruling party (pdp) with access to excess tax payers(our) fund.

Yes, no doubt ACN plays a neutral role by not mobilising their supporters but come to think of it,it is obvious ACN cant win the presidential election, the only possible outcome is run-off(rerun) so why should they waste their resources twice with low probability of winning?

I think ACN are saving their little resources for the governorship election which is near, where ACN candidates has a better chance of winning in the southwest and some other parts of the country like Benue, Akwa Ibom et al.
Do anybody have the idea of how much politicians spend for party agents and mobilisation?

Why can't RIBADU win his own polling unit, ward, local govt upto his state(Adamawa)?
Same thing apply to PASTOR TUNDE BAKARE CPC,i can recall he said CPC would swept SOUTHWEST without ACN.

To me over-ambition killed Ribadu chances, he should have started with senate since he's a lawyer.
Same apply to Tunde Bakare, both are lawyer and would serve this great nation better as senate 4 a start.

As Tinubu rightly said politics is about give and take.UK & US are typical example. In UK liberal democrats with 57seats produce the current deputy prime minister(Nick) while conservative with 306seats produce prime minister(Camron).Recently In US Obama prevented government shutdown by compromising with Republican regarding cuts in US budgets.

Buhari n Bakare(cpc) doesnt want to lose anything yet they wanted to win SW.it doesnt work that way,now they are crying foul when they've lost.

ACN are right 4 asking 4 a sign agreement, once bitten twice shy.Do u think AD would have varnish today if there was written agreement btw obasanjo and the yesterdays AD governors? Also do u think PDP zoning would have varnish today if there was written agreement btw Obasanjo and the north?

Personally, i do not believe in the figures from SS & SE, its kinda not realistic but it is possible since the figure doesnt exceeds number of registered voters in that zone.INEC should take note against future elections. Also the issue of under-age voters in north, INEC &security agents can do better.INEC should also take note of political campaign funds and money spent during electioneering, this is one of the reason majority of our elected officers fails.

Now that our votes seems to counts, Lets hope for the best under whichever elected governments and if no improvement, then we can use the power of our votes to vote them all out irrespective of their party , whether ACN, PDP, LP, APGA or CPC in the next election.

May God bless us all.

Ribadu've being sleeping/dinning with d wolves and got's fingers burnt, Nigerians are still living in dark ages, untill Nigerians become more enlighten , and less obsessed with materialism, political vagabond will continue to get d sherry!!!

ACN should continue with d goods  and by your works would secure more states (enlightment/ idealogy)

ACN  should continue to recruit individuals that shares their idealogy and eliminate the chaff from d party.

The ideal of Tinubu footing the bills would  fracture collective will and creat nepotism, there's a lots of lesson from this election,  d masses are becoming  less mayopic.

THE MORE EMPOWERED/ ENLIGHTEN THE MASSES GETS, PREJUICES ON WHATEVER GROUNDS WOULD BE ISOLATED,
            AND FEDERALISM WOULD EMERGE,

The truth is that ACN was in dire need of a merger so they initiated the talks with CPC which equally saw an added advantage in the merger. However b'cos CPC has a greater political prowess in the North than those of ACN in the south-west it was easy for them determine who should concede what.Otherwise how do you explain ACN's willingness to concede easily the Presidential slot to them and still could not lay a solid foot hold on the V.P slot except Buhari conjectures? The ultimate reason behind this talk of merger or the other is prompted by no other reason but personal gains otherwise why should it matter where the president or Vice comes from if they will work for the collective interest of all Nigerians.Summary every selfish endeavor will ultimately produce selfish conclusions Q.E.D

Have we thought and look at this country very well and see what has been happening in it for the past years at least since when we know our right from our wrong, how has it been going?

Even though we have corruption everywhere i dont think ribadu should blame his lost on any body.
why on earth should he go to politics in the first place after all what he did in this country and how he was rewarded, for good works when he was the chairman of EFFC?

what we fail to know is that is not in all position or places we excel, each person has a place that is denstined for him or her to make a difference.

if our ACN presidential candidatate has asked for advice from me i would have asked him to stay cool and enjoy his life with his family and not dipping his head into politics that is not meant for him
sad sad sad
