Truthshots: You're the bigger foool Edo is just a state comprising of four or more minority tribes. If we're to use this your warped logic then Delta is an ethnic group and rivers is also an ethnic group since they comprise of many minority tribes. A region that was formerly Midwestern, then Bendel, now Edo. So the latest Edo creation has now graduated to Ethnic group status? Wonders shall never end on NL 4 Likes |

Ahamefuna0001: For your information, the word Edo was not created in 1991 when Edo state was created. The word Edo is older than the words Igbo or Yoruba. It is the name of the people of Benin Empire of which the people in Delta state are a subset. You are just an other lazy youth who doesn't understand much and believes every state has the same history and everything is simple, sometimes, it is not that simple. Edo-State was named after the Edo people, not the reverse. Just like Benin Republic was named after Benin empire, not the reverse. |

Even in the colonial era, the region referred to as Benin province comprised what we now call Edo state and huge swaths of what we now call Delta state and perhaps some more land. In the precolonial era both states and much more were part of Benin empire.

Ahamefuna0001: Once again Anioma are not Igbo ! The fact you even ask this your question shows how little you actually know. The only people on that list whom are not Edo proper are the ijo. This makes me think you might be a teenager or a very dull adult. What did you think "Edo" stands for in Omo n'Oba n'Edo ? 1 Like |

Benin empire is not defined by Nigeria, it precedes Nigeria. It was a country in its own right, with its own army, its own economy, its own international trade and relations and its own leader, the Oba of Benin. |

Truthshots: Tah. The only thing the colonialists quoted Benin for was their affinity to making human sacrifices. Even when the Brits invaded Benin, the entire palace was littered with human sacrifices and it had a putrid stench. 5 Likes 1 Share |

ThumbzTNA: Look, you are not making any sense. As I said Benin empire by definition is a precolonial country which preceded nigeria. Right now the country we have is called Nigeria, not Benin Kingdom. The problem you people have is you are too dumb to understand these simple things. You want to claim Benin is the passed, but biafra, what is it ? Basically a dream from ethnocentric Igbos. Of course Benin is in the passed, if not there won't be a Nigeria. |

Re: Why Is The Nigerdelta Silent? What's Our Use In This Forum As Regards Sovreignty by Nobody: 6:27pm On Apr 03, 2021 |
It is very simple, you take Benin empire and the north, you add colonisation, you get Nigeria. Remove colonisation, you get Benin empire and the north. |

Truthshots: It's an irony that a while ago, you were the one accusing Igbo of claiming people because of their land and resources even when Igbo has never claimed a non-igboid group. I'm yet to see were Igbo claim Ijo, Ibibio or Urhobo. It's surprising that the so called accuser is the one claiming people to the extent of creating a nonexistent Edo ethnic group when you practically know that the tribes you're lumping are not culturally, traditionally or linguistically related. Is Nigeria not funny? 7 Likes |

Ahamefuna0001: Generally your ilks always focus on claims of linguistic similarities. As for culture, a look at the regalias of the traditional rulers would easily make it clear that it is the same culture. Look, this conversation is becoming ridiculous, you have difficulties accepting facts when they don't go your way and some how you believe I should have to suffer for your mental disorder. You igbo are calling yourselves an ethnic group when you fit absolutely no criteria for such, you are actually a bunch of tribes who were merged together by the British because of the nightmare to rule so many tiny tribes without trying to centralise them a little bit. Your true cultures were squashed by the British because you were cannibal tribes. Language: all from the colonial era when your languages were put together and were modelled after Onitcha language...
