I can tell you that church isn't the one of Christ. I suspect your brother has been hypnotized and brainwashed to believe giving all to God will cause God to triple it as returns. No true church will be comfortable seeing a member giving all and his worth continue to decline.

Religion is all about MONEY and POWER. If a pastor tells you to give him anything, ask him why his god is unable to provide it for him?
