God through his servants who made selfless sacrifices in history preserved the truth to the present day - why have we now let the devil and his agents deny us of this great privilege to be free from ignorance and equipped with the knowledge of God's divine message for our soul?

The society today is limited by her greed and lustful desire to acquire material things and damn the consequences!

No one cares about the bigger picture any more. All they are concerned about is that which they want and will never be patient in the process to getting it - THEY JUST WANT IT NOW!

Our text today gives us a perfect example of an individual who like many of our youths today, allowed gift of riches cloud his mind that he gave up his very calling and ministry as well as incurred the wrath of God upon himself and family. Like Gehazi, many people while seeking for gratification, do so at the expense of the glory of God; they claim power and might where it is the grace of God, just to appear powerful in the sight of men and as such suck out wealth from the gullible audiences. Do not be like this; there is dignity in labour, patience and aligning with the will of God for you in all things and at all times! Stay blessed!

Probation is the opportunity offered to us for a time to make things right with God; we all are under the mercies of God for the time being. However, this mercy will one day come to an end - This is when probation would have closed.
There are three ways in which probation can close for any individual - [1] Death, [2] Unpardonable Sin [3] The General Close of Probation.

What does it mean to Worship in Spirit and in truth, as stated in John 4:24?
"God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth."

Worshipping in Spirit refers to worshipping God sincerely and voluntarily with a pure and sincere heart! God desires us to engage our heart and mind in loving him and adhering to his commandments.

However, sincerity is NOT enough, we must also worship Him in TRUTH! Yes, true worship with a sincere heart is the only acceptable form of worship to God as stated in his guiding principles - the bible.

The bible graciously defines truth in three ways:
1. Jesus is the Truth - John 14:6 - Jesus is a perfect example of what and how we can worship God!
2. The Bible is the truth - John 17:17; the word of God and should be the only reference for what is the truth.
3. The commandments of God are the truth - Psalm 119:151; the traditions or commandments of men cannot pass as truth; only the commandments given by God constitutes the truth.

May the Holy Spirit guide you into all truth, in Jesus Name, Amen.

ARE YOU DEAD IN SIN OR DEAD TO SIN?

As a person, the state of your spiritual life could be in either one of the above.
Being Dead in sin represents a state of spiritual decay where you find pleasures in partaking in sinful activities/practices that are against every principle of our faith and worship to God.

While being "Dead to Sin" denotes a level of spiritual maturity where you grow through the power of the Holy Spirit in you to become unresponsive to sin and sinful lusts! Your life becomes a reflection of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ who declared in John 14:30 "...for the prince of this world cometh, and hath nothing in me".

This too can be your testimony! Wake up from that grave of sin, call onto God and be resurrected unto salvation! Amen.

One undeniable fact is that "there is a 'tug of war' that goes on in the heart of every one who has experienced the new birth - the tug of war between the spirit and the flesh.
 
When we receive Christ, the Holy Spirit comes upon us to work in our spirit a desire for righteousness and power to live a sanctified life. However, we have the flesh "the old man" still striving for mastery, trying to manifest itself in the works of the flesh (Galatians 5:19-21).
 
In all these, you must make genuine efforts to ensure that the flesh never triumphs over the spirit, as this can cost you the salvation of your soul and lose your place in God's kingdom of glory.
 
You may be tempted to ask the question "IS THE SPIRIT SO WEAK THAT IT CAN BE OVERPOWERED BY THE FLESH?" The answer is NO! The flesh will dominate only becasue you gave it authority to triumph by giving in to the selfish and sinful desires thereby refusing the Holy spirit's gift to us that would have made us OVERCOME THE FLESH.

Grace Has Renewed Me September 2, 2021

“O God, refresh a steady spirit inside me and create in me a pure heart.” Psalm 51:10

Have you ever found yourself struggling with the same sin over and over again? Far too many of us find ourselves trapped in the sin cycle. What is the reason for this? When we sin, we instinctively understand that the first thing we need is God’s forgiveness. However, this is merely a treatment for the infection of guilt. Forgiveness addresses the infection’s source, which is sin. When it came to his sin problem, King David knew that pardon was not his sole requirement. He sinned with his hands, but his heart was the problem. The same can be said for each of us.

We are all sinners, not just those who sin. We are who we are, therefore we do what we do. This necessitates that we address not only the symptoms of our problems but also their root causes. King David recognizes in Psalm 51:10 that he doesn’t just need forgiveness for his sin; he also wants purity. To put it another way, we need to be cleansed from our sin, not only freed of it. That is why David prayed to God, “Create in me a pure heart…”

When it comes to dealing with guilt, it’s not just a fungus that can be scraped off the surface. It is not a condition that can be treated at home. Sin necessitates open-heart surgery. In truth, a spiritual heart transplant is required. The Hebrew word for “create” in Psalm 51:10 is the same word used in Genesis to describe the world’s creation. It literally means “to make something out of nothing.” Only God is capable of performing such a miracle. Our heart is the problem that lies at the center of our sin. We require a new heart… A comprehensive spiritual renovation, not just a minor repair.

It’s not enough to just get on with what we’re doing. We have to face who we are. When we pray for God to “establish in us a new heart and renew a firm spirit,” what we truly mean is that we want Him to change us from the inside out, not the other way around. It’s difficult to give up “pet” sins like drugs, alcohol, rage, and gossip. The truth is that all New Year’s resolutions are meaningless and ineffective in combating recurrent wrongdoing. What we all need is for God’s grace to renew us.

Are you attempting to overcome your sin with your willpower? If that’s the case, stop attempting to transform yourself from the outside in and instead ask God to change you from within.

"I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me" - Philippians 4:13. Sometimes, we seem to forget the power we have in us as Christians - Sons of the Almighty in whom the Spirit of God resides. Many have given up to a defeatist mindset about sin.

You have dominion dear friend! You are not made to be a slave to sin. Our God is great and he works in us by his Holy Spirit to live a life of righteousness and His beloved Son is our advocate in heaven interceding on our behalf.

Why then should you let sin reign in your body and subsequently obey it in the lust thereof? Find your identity as a child of God! You can do all things through Christ in you, and holiness is not an exception!
