The region was shitty before the war
Do not deceive yourself
The road from PH to Enugu was a Single carriageway . Many of you kids have no idea what Nigeria looked like in the 60s. There was not a single "Expressway" = Motorway ANYWHERE IN NIGERIA. Not one. No Lagos Ibadan expressway, No PH Aba expressway zilch
So what is it that was in Aba before the war? In the whole of Nigeria there were not up to 30 bank branches and only 5 universities

The Eboes were done a big favor by being defeated in 1970 . They received huge investment boost and benefitted from the oil boom

So do not try to sell this cock and bull story that "Our region was developed before the war and destroyed by bombardment and we were given only twenty pound and look at us now we have been busy turning sand into beans and cockroaches into goats are we not great?"

If you don't know what to say better shut up. So we should believe you and your silly jargon against an event that is properly documented?

What was the population of the Nigeria then?

You talk of houses standing> Are they the wall of Jericho? Why should they not stand? Even in Umuahia the Biafra Capital there are standing houses. The River Niger Bridge is still there. UNN is still there. Was Port Harcourt not a theatre of the war? Even Shell camp in Port Harcourt was occupied by the military so stop talking nonsense

PS
You are Eboe

It's like your own version of the war is different from the truth,.

1. Umuahia was not the capital of Biafra

2. River Niger Bridge was destroyed, was later rebuild after the war

3. Some part of UNN was destroyed, that while the Chemistry Department was close down after the war by the federal government because of their involvement in the war, I don't know if they've reopened that department still date.

4. Onitsha was destroyed and the main market was destroyed to ground zero
So, verify before disgracing yourself and your family

Through indignization decree that took place immediately after the war. An entire zone just emerged from war totally broke and that was the time they had to sell all foreign owned companies to Nigerians? How convenient! That was the moment the so-called Yoruba economic dominance started until Igbos clawed their way back to the top they've always belonged.

That's the simple truth, before the war the Igbo's were running the show, to the extent an Igbo man was the first VC of University Of Lagos, University of Ibadan etc. What happened was envy, jealousy rushed to fight us and after the war they shared the spoil of war now where are the foreign companies they took over from the British? The answer is they ran them down.
Re: How The Igbos Came Out Of The War Of Genocide To Be The Richest Tribe In Nigeria by tandy2013: 12:20pm On Aug 21, 2021
True, Igbos individually have done very more than other tribes . THEY own businesses all over Nigeria.

Fulanis and Yorubas enriched themselves from govt money. Imagine if Igbos have had the opportunity to produce president of Nigeria who would enable friendly economic policies that would boost igbo man's business .
Igbos wealth are evenly distributed.

Do you know that WW2 claim more than 40 million civilian lives, and about 20 million military lost their lives also.

And today those that fought in that war are what we call or regards as developed countries today, but in Nigeria, a war was fought and no lesson was learnt, but the war threw up some discoveries and Nigeria decided to look the other way, out of jealousy, envy, and outright arrogance.

But the East came out stronger and determined, if the east were to direct there own destiny by them selves even while loosing the war, Nigeria for no see our back interns of development.

Japan and Garmany lost the WW1&2 but they took their own destiny in there hands and see what they've become today.

What was the size of Onitsha Main market before 1970> Clearly you guys are kids and have no context or understanding of what Nigeria was like around that time. There was no big deal to Onitsha market . before the war. Let us put Onitsha market before the war into perspective. The Niger Bridge was opened in December 1965 by Balewa who was killed the following month. A few months later the country was in crisis. So the essential history of Onitsha market before 1070 was one that did not involve the Niger bridge. There was no Ph _Aba express way and Onitsha was not a very accessible town so do not pretend that the so called pre 1970 Onitsha Main Market was anything significant.

Some part of many things were destroyed that is why you should understand context before jumping in with foolish comments. He said buildings in Akwa Ibom were still standing THEREFORE it was not attacked or involved in war. That is the context. Prewar buildings are standing EVERYWHERE ; in Afikpo, Aba Ikot Ekpene, Port Harcourt and so on. So No one ever said there was no destruction at UNN. but many buildings are STILL STANDING TILL TODAY

Some part of River Niger Bridge was destroyed but its skeleton was still standing and REHABILITATED after the war. Again grasp the context before jumping in foolishly

When Enugu was captured tell us where was the capital of Biafra?

The East of Nigeria is a shithole and will forever remain so,that's why your people go to your enemy's house to survive.
Go back home and develop the East.

Igbo slums summed up together are noting to be compared to that filth called Ibadan that has deteriorated since 1960's,

Ibadan is a large space of land deeped in a sea of brown roof, poverty, leads in open defecation bcux it lacks mordern day toilets. It alxo encompasses a large space decayed buildings. funny aspect of all this is that from Ibadan to abeokuta e.t.c towns in yorubaland are all swallowed with brown roofs.

y'all should erect gud buildings over ur head then we can talk.

There was an agreement between the Hausa and Fulanis on one hand and Yorubas on the other, for the former to have political dominance while the latter will have economic dominance. Before and immediately after independence, Igbo influence was so much that Ahmadu Bello had to make that infamous hate speech about employing foreigners instead of Igbos who he said were domineering. Remember, Britain ran a merit based system and this is the atmosphere Igbos thrive most, so they took over most sectors which brought envy, jealousy and hatred on Igbos.

I bet you, if that sham they called indignization decree (which in reality was Yoruba empowerment scheme) was done before the war, Igbos would have had total control because they would have bought most of them.

Awolowo was a very cunning man, he thought he could hand over Nigeria's economy to his people but unfortunately, easy come, easy go is the way of life. The Yorubas used their new found wealth to take owambe to brazen heights and as expected, most of those companies were run down.

Even with Lagos in their domain and all the headstart they were given, they still couldn't make it count. If Lagos is in our domain and we had same headstarts they had, nobody would see our back in Nigeria.

we have more successful people in Igbo land than those in sw. we are only in ur region to exploit and send u bck to slum from whence u came.
