We can't condemn Lugard for giving us a name and still choose a name given by Portuguese sailors, how then are you better than Nigerians?
Moreover we hinterland Igbos have no direct connection to Birth of Biafra since those who live by the Coast of Biafra said they are not interested in forming a country with us.It is like the Serbs of Serbia retaining Yugoslavia after the disintegration of that country or Russia retaining USSR as her name after the colapse of the union. It does't make sense.Biafra only makes sense when all the people of old Eastern region are involve.Opugo that suggested that name to Ojukwu is from Bayelsa and him people say they no do again, why must you continue with it even when we nolonger have access to the birth of Biafra as a ressult of Ijaw pullout from the union?

Stop saying that the name Biafra was given by Portuguese sailors. The name Biafra was chosen by representatives of the 20 provinces that made up the old Eastern Region, in Enugu, in May 1967. Indigenous people chose the name

But no indigenous person was with Lugard or his girlfriend Flora Shaw, when they came up with the name "Nigeria", then came down to West Africa to rain bullets and bombs on the indigenes so as to impose that name on them.

As for those who want Biafra and those who do not, thats what referendum is for.

Ijaw from Ghana?

Ijaws are mainly Ghanaians who came to Niger Delta with the Portuguese.
They were porters.
They migrated from the coast of Ashanti in ghana in an Eastward direction to the coasts of Gabon transporting the whites and settling along the coasts mixing with indigenous tribes there.
That's the hidden history of Ijaws.

I Know of Biseni.
They are like Igbide who has now been Isokonized.

Biseni people are originally of same stock as Ogba, Ndoni and Ogbaru and Ukwuani people.
They were proto Igboid people.
But the town got overrun by Ijaws from Ghana who overwhelmed the natives in population.
So today Biseni has been completely ijawnizec with few traces of original Igboid here and there.

We can't salvage Biseni anymore just like Igbide. We have to accept that they're now Fully Ijaws.

Yeah! They are far gone... Although you could still see some of the Igbo features on some of them but for most you could tell they are far gone.
Although, those my contacts spoke Igbo and their father even dress in Igbo attire and their surname is "Ogbonnaya".. their children who are now adults can't even explain how they could speak Igbo nor the reason why their surname is "Ogbonnaya"... and truthfully, they are too small and could easily be absorbed into a bigger group.

That can't be true simply for the fact that there would be Ijaw population in Ghana but there isn't there's no such thing as an ethnic group leaving their homeland to help transport slaves and in any case the Portugese only initially mentioned meeting the Itsekiri and the Urhobo, contact with the Ijaws came much later.

Igbo were the main traders along the lower Niger and Brass was a major point of trade between British and Africans so the Igbo went down south and set up base in that area. It was even written by the Lander Brothers if i'm not mistaken that Brass was in servitude to Obi Ossai and he had to kneel down on his head in order to speak to Obi Ossai added to that not sure if this news is verified but a lot of the metal used in Brass like swords, religious items, guns etc. Were allegedly made in Awka so there's definitely a strong link but the indigenous people are defo the Nembe other the last 400-500 years Igbo have begun entering the area and their influence is now being seen.

Historically paid obeisance to Obi Ossai? That is not a small statement to make o.

He's not wrong Biafra was the Portugese name for a town and port in Cameroon where the Bamun, Ekoi, Ejagham etc. Lived why they chose Biafra I have no idea but Biafra isn't an indigenous name or idea

They are Igbos already. Nature made them so.
You can't tell an Okorie from Abia, Okoye from Anambra and Anioma, to leave an Okoye in Bayelsa alone for Ijaw and Isoko people, without atleast making attempt to woo Okorie back to the fold.

You are the thief here!
What is the Link between an Ijaw man and an Okorie?
Are you okay at all?

That's the true history of Izon.
They were described by the Portuguese as the "people of jos".
Ijaw claim to originating from Nigeria is hinged on indigenous tribes like Obulom, Udekeme, Ogbia, etc they met on ground and linked themselves with.
But all those indigenous groups have languages fitting into the indigenous YEAII language of Southern Nigeria or the Cross- River cluster language group.
Whereas Izon language sticks out like a malignant cell with no link to these groups.

Don't be stupid.
You can't care more about Ndiigbo than Igbos themselves.
Face your group and let Ndiigbo be.

There has never really been a truly aggressive Igbo nationalistic group in Igboland since Igbo state union was killed by Ironsi in 1966.
Ohanaeze has been more like a political jamboree group of old senile old men out for Ghana must go bags from politicians.
IPOB is a confused group that is actually anti Igbo.

When we finally evolve a truly Igbo nationalistic movement that will put the interest of all involved clans as Paramount objective, all Igbo speaking groups will willingly come and bend the knee.
Because language and culture is and will always be a strong pulling force.

Chibudom Nwuche is an Ekepye top Politician who has continually identified with his Igbo identity.

Problem is that SE has been derailed by Utopian Biafra with minorities for too long that we have failed to work on Igbo nationalism by actively and deliberately politically uniting all Igbo speaking people while "binning" the minorities for now. cool

Never knew that Chibudom Nwuche is Ekpeye-Igbo. Seriously, how can one bear a name like that and someone will still have the effrontery to question whether he is Igbo or not?? Can one bear a name like Olusegun Obasanjo without everyone knowing he is Yoruba or can one bear Nsikak Akpan without it showing he is Ibibio?

Why all these attempts at breaking Igbos apart? Is it because we lost a civil war or what??

Igbos aren't trying to claim any minority groups only trying to claim other Igbo groups and frankly it is in the best interest of the izon, Isoko, Urhobo and any other Niger Deltan group to unite with the Igbo at least politically because this gives them a larger and better stance on decision making and on development. My overall view is for the whole south to unite but for that to happen we must start with the Igbos and their splinter groups.

Oga igbos don't need to unite with minorities both on politically or otherwise.

What do you mean by that? Ebonyians claim and hold on to their Igbo identity more than your own Ndokwa. Talk with receipts please.
What can be more grand than Afikpo for example? Or the Edda warriors. Most of your forget that the great Afikpo is still in Ebonyi.

Nobody stopped us from working on reunification of Igboland.
Those groups will come on board if they see genuine effort at unification from SE, bankrolled by a formidable Igbo nationalistic movement, whose presence would be felt in terms of community projects and Political empowerment of these communities by bankrolling them against other minorities.

We haven't evolved such group.
IPOB was a waste of time with their Multiethnic Babelian Biafra Agenda, no Igboid group in SS would accept that, they already know what it feels like sharing a region with minorities.
The less said about Ohanaeze Ndiigbo, the better.

They (Igbo pocket communities scattered in all 6 SS states) will come on board with SE when they sense strong purposeful leadership in SE built on Igbo empowerment and squashing of any group, be they minorities or majority standing on our way.

Abia governors who are Fulani stooges, who don't believe in Igbo republic and who don't subscribe to Igbo independence from Nigeria.
Do not represent the aspirations of Ndi Abia! They represent the wishes of their Gambari masters and as you can see, Igbos don't regard the so called governors because we know they don't represent our interests.

Read the above again to assimilate better!

Adaka Boro was an ingrate who was working with Balewa and Saraduna to destabilize the East.
Today with Harold Dipriye, Boro was bankrolled by the North to destabilize the East because Balewa was angry about Tiv and Jos riots against the Caliphate and accused Ndiigbo of supporting the Northern minorities to destabilize the North.

Boro was a short sighted Ijaw who went to Ghana to recruit his Ijaws kinsmen and committed genocide against Igbos indigenous to Bonny and Opobo.
In due time, we will repay that debt.
Boro was killed by his Arewa masters after they were done using him.
