both in lagos and in Abuja, videos were seen of government sent thugs trying to disrupt the protests at all cost. Those thugs were the ones who did these burnings.

While I'm not pointing any finger at anybody, but do you have any evidence that most of the perpetrators of the massive destruction of Lagos were Yoruba? Where were you when that animal Nnamdi Kanu ordered his fellow IPOB animals to burn down Lagos, and most especially Tinubu's businesses. The audio is still available. You think people are mad or delusional for thinking Kanu's orders had a role in the carnage?
Oga provide a link to the audio or shut the fvck up. This is how you hate filled m.orons keep spreading lies.

Well I supported endsars and was active on twitter during dt period. I rmmber after Buhari and the IG gave some concessions, even WizKid (one of the pple dt started #endsars) said during the London protest dt
it was proof our voices were powerful and can be heard. I honestly thought dt was the point the protests should've ended.

But the protesters weren't smart, in hindsight. They should have quit while ahead. I was still kind of in support until they started looting malls and pples homes. Then when they attacked the oba of Lagos palace, burnt tinubus TVC it turned sinister.

Protests just have to be organised in a way dt it doesn't descend into chaos. Pple wt ulterior motives such as hoodlums, politicians, tribalist will always take advantage of chaos.

Some activists have demanded that the Lagos State Government must not allow Lagos to be burnt down again like it was last year. They say that they will do everything possible to prevent a repeat of the riots that led to the burning down of the Lagos DNA and Forensic Centre, the historic Lagos High Court at Igbosere Road, the Nigerian Ports Authority Headquarters building, several police and fire stations and several BRT depots, including newly acquired BRT buses, etc.

Here are screenshots of some of their messages.

I thought they ask police for protection against being infiltrated with hoodlums. Why can't we support the right thing. Government refused to do the right thing last time, hence what happened.

You can't deny the people the right to protest else, they already slaves in their own land. Invariably, we are asserting that because of criminals amongst us, we shouldn't speak against the ills of the society. This is not healthy for any society or economy.

Instead of those posters on Twitter to urge the government and security agencies to monitor the planned protests and prevent a breakdown of law and order, they're discouraging Nigerians from exercising their fundamental human rights as regards organizing/partaking in a protest.

What we should all clamor for is peaceful demonstrations, not outright ban of protests like some political elements on Twitter are doing.

Brainless people.

The protest organizers need to ensure political thugs don't hijack the protests and thwart the patriotic efforts of brave Nigerians demanding good governance, accountability from our political leaders.

Don't mind those corrupt tools of government. Are they not one now planning to burn Lagos? Because the best form of defense is to attack. So, they would have to attack the protesters to defend Lagos.
We are not ready for good governance in this country.

I know two of those activists personally, they're all worst than the average Nigerian politician. One of them was the one that led the subsidy protest of 2012 at Mulero bus/stop, Agege just a stone throw from NYSC camp. The horrible creature was given money to arrange food for people, let's say he collected money for 50 bags of rice and the idiotic being only bought max 10.

End.

The destruction only happened after government started killing unarmed protesters.

The destruction is a reaction to an action.

You ignored the action and only focused on the reaction. That makes you a hypocrite like the other hypocrites on nairaland.

They've drawn your attention to the arson and attack on public and private property across the state.

This is evidenced, yet the phantom massacre has yet to produce credible victims 1 year later.

Many of you won't rest until the nation burns.
Please don’t say the phantom massacre . If several people died it hasn’t really been investigated . But one of the things Sanwo olu said was that a lone soul died . That is enough for a remembrance at least to happen on that day .
However saying people should not exercise this rights is akin to military, dictatorship or Nazi rule . Let the police, nscdc protect both the properties and protesters so it wouldn’t be hijacked by hoodlums .

Dt Calabar guys emotions on Pg2 actually reflected most people's emotions during endsars.
It went from support, to excitement dt Nigeria could change, to terror dt hoodlums had taken over and were looting pples livelihoods, to crying for police intervention to make the protests stop and having no end in sight.

Quote anywhere, majority of people that carry out the carnage are yorubas. Check the cctv and video evidence. Yes some other tribe were part of it. What I'm saying is, it has nothing to do with tribe. Tout are always tout anywhere irrespective of tribe or race. I'm a yoruba man, live all my life in Lagos. Let's stop shifting blames, that's not what we the Yorubas are known for. We take responsibility. That's why I'm calling out on all hard working Lagosian to voice out against the proposed protest without any ethnic colouration

Lagos State encourages and harbours touts more than any state in Nigeria. As a result, there is a large number of people who are willing to key into any protests to loot and destroy things. It's a good thing to remember those who lost their lives during the EndSARS protest.

However, this must NOT be done with another protest. It could be in a square (TBS), big hall or online. I can imagine how much that protest that was hijacked by jobless hoodlums cost Lagos State and other states in Nigeria. Protests are good but we must NOT destroy the little progress we have achieved over six decades.

In fact, the military should be deployed in strategic places across Lagos State and Nigeria as a whole. When these senseless protesters see battle-ready soldiers, no be person go tell them to go back.

People are only interested in protests, but nobody asks how those whose businesses were senselessly destroyed (or means of livelihood ruined) are faring.

While I agree to some of your salient facts such as approach, we must also remember that living in the fear of these touts and criminals amongst us won't help the state either. We seem to mix things up in this part of the world. Another approach is for government to set such date aside for open talks on vices, where people can freely express their concerns from agitators and show their support in campaign against police brutality cos truth is police never change and we are just delaying day of retribution. One, they not only own the whole activities of the endsars protest by channeling angers and frustrations thru positive activities and feedback process that leads to positive collaborative results, thereby not only curbing intended violence but also jump start a re orientation process for both the people and police.

Nobody is destroying Lagos bro.
Protesters have a right to protest and the government have a duty to protect its assets.

What I expect Sanwo-Olu to do is invite the parties involved in organizing the protest, provide facts and figures about the dangers involved.

Suggest better ways to handle the situation. For example, provide a park for protesters with full security and also encourage them to be on uniform.

If I didn't see thugs coming out of BRT last year then I wouldn't have said the government brought the destruction upon themselves. Sponsoring thugs against the protesters was where the whole thing started. These people capitalized on the protest to settle age long differences against the government.

With the suggestion above, I think all parties will come to a consensus and will respect each other's view and aim.

This will even go a long way to vindicate the Lagos state government as a respecter of human and constitutional rights.

In addition, we held a protest against PHCN in my area which we got into trouble for because some people destroyed glasses. We payed for the damages and restrategized by organizing a bigger protest but before embarking on that protest, we informed the police and they followed us to the scene.
Everything went peacefully due to police presence and the DPO was very happy with the initiative.
Trying to stop protests will make you look like you're hiding something.

Protesting is your right, but do we need it at this current fragile economy situation. Lots of people are hungry, any opportunity under the guise of protest will only result to violent, looting and destruction.
For your information, those claimed rented tugs are just as the same as all other people that took part in the looting. Check around the world, any protest that extend beyond 10days usually result to violent and looting. Check US last protest or protest in Europe.
Are those also hired thugs.

A very partial assumption. In a country where statistics, records, and events are poorly documented, or or is it the situation where the media in many cases are biased or outrightly bought over, or the police where in most cases the victim become the accused, or a government who oppresses the weak, muzzling everything not in it's favor? One could go on and on, and then you say the lekki episode was a phantom massacre yet to produce credible victims? In a country like this what is your yard stick for determining what is credible or not credible? A country of multiple laws for different classes of people? A country of multiple standards etc? Someday, one day the world would eventually find out the truth about what really transpired at the lekki toll gate
