As for Owerri, it is a little town filled with prostitutes and cheap brothels. You guys should stop confusing commercial se.x hawkers in Owerri with tourism. People travel to most state capitals almost every weekend. So it's not a basis for anything.

Calabar and Akwaibom takes it when it comes to tourism destinations in Nigeria at the moment. Imo state govt develop other areas of strength but definitely not tourism as I am yet to see one person in over 20yrs travelling to the state for such. This is clear because it has not helped the IGR and fiscal sustainnability of the state.

Africans should leave religion and think just like the Chinese did some years ago and now they have not only experienced social economic and technological growth but are emerging world powers. Most continents have left religion and now are fast developing with the speed of light. It's only Africa that is still stoked in religion. Religion signifies darkness, backwardness, poverty, and all negative connotations therein. Europe learnt their own religious lessons early during the dark age and has dumped religion for developmentioned.

Am in the tourism industry and I put it to you that owerri is not a tourist town yet , I have been to two of the towns you mentioned , in fact lived in north London for 3 month, the difference is that hospitality alone does not drive their economy as it does vegas or Atlantic City and as such can't make Owerri great even smart people in owerri knows this and are kicking against it already prostitutiting college students is not tourism. But from your reply it seems you don't consider My examples ( Florida and vegas cities ) if that's the case I rest my case.

Mind you Aba and Nnewi are example of balanced cities with heavy industries they don't lack hotels for their guests. Don't forget Ota in ogun state.

hehehe, bros I must tell you that if there is any city in Nigeria that will take TV he mentle as Las Vegas of Nigeria that's owerri. You don't fuckn need manufacturing or heavy industry for hospitality to succeed. Instead you need more world class hospitality facilities. Las Vegas city is over 85% hospitality. An average tourist traveler to the states will like to see vegas despite other cities having good balance of industries and hotels. That alone makes Nevada one of the richest state in USA.
I reside in Ph and I must tell that most guys troup in to owerri every weekends because of the growing hospitality the city is reputed for in recent times. Nobody would like to go to aba or onitcha for such if not for business.
Note, hospitality industry comes with other complementing hospitabl and non hospitable industry such as beverage industry, Agro/farm storage, brewery, healthcare, plastic industry for packaging, etc.

IMO is very rich in oil and gas and have multinationals like shell, sheveron, agip, etc
