Liar

Now I know why people are suspicious of stories on Nairaland. No one will make an after tax offer to you in the UK. You either pay through PAYE or you sort out your own tax outside IR35. In both cases your offer will be your gross annual salary.

Tell me I am a hater but no one is offering you a £90,000/year job in the UK from Nigeria simply because you are 'tech bro', Whatever dafuq that mean. I dont care if you can write perfect API code straight from sleep or you are a developer, SDET, BA, Architect, PM all rolled in one.

is highly possible.

My guy, most of the people giving advice on this issue are ignorant of situations of things in UK. 4k pound at the exchange rate of 750naira is equivalent to 3m. That is times 2 of your salary in nigeria.

Let talk of cost of living in UK. If you are not living in London, you can get 2 bedrooms flat for 700 to 800 per month. Go to zoopla.co.uk to confirm this. Other bills including council tax and food should be around 500 to 700 depending on the size of your family. If you are using a car, you should be ready to pay more bills.
With this analysis, you can save as much as 2k from your 4k earning. That is equal to your 1.5M in Nigeria.
Remember you have access to best free health service, better security, good and free education for your children. Constant Water, gas and light supply and better opportunities in life over there.
I think you can understand me brother.

These are the kinda analysis I was hoping to see

Thank you

Let me tell you one thing, except he's living in a village in Derbyshire, he'll most likely live in a small flat whilst spending 1k pounds on that alone.

Car - 300 pounds a month

Phone, broadband, Netflix - 180

Council tax - 200

Electricity - 120

That's already 1800 pounds without even paying for fuel and clothes and feeding.

This one d include Netflix for expenses. You sound like an extravagant person, no offense lipsrsealed

There are still people getting good breakthroughs like this.

Just today, a friend of mine got an employment letter with one major multinational company in lagos, this morning.

And he has an interview with another multinational company tommorow.

He is even thinking about not going to the second interview.

£4000 monthly for a tech bro? See, the pay is ridiculous! From where I'm standing, I'd say don't take it because suffering awaits in full glare. Nigeria is cheap, I'll tell you that and N1.5 million is decent not to pressure you. Bills would make that money look like modern slavery save you plan on becoming a minimalist and by that, I mean, deny yourself of basic privileges.

If you are unmarried, then by all means consider it and look for a healthworker to compliment your salary then give your kids a fighting chance by handing them UK citizenship. Other than that, run.

Lmao, the fact that you actually calculated the tax is funny. People don't usually check for facts. Perhaps maybe he has checked his Net Income and found exactly how much his money would be, I really can't say.

£90,000 a year is a lot sha, you have to be working as Staff Software Engineer in UK to earn that.

Talking from experience, I'm a software engineer based in Newcastle.

1.5m in Nigeria will give you a good life in Nigeria.

4k GBP after tax will also give you a good life in the UK especially if you are far from London eg you are in Northern England where the cost of leaving is relatively low.

The two deals are okay for a good life.

Now the question I will ask you is where do you want to be and why?

Remember people will always shout Nigeria is bad, Nigeria is insecure blabla etc.

People here in the UK won't be very open to telling you the things they face here too, here is not also perfect it has its own flop but most are cancelled.

Goodluck.

I just hope you realise how you sound with this kind of attack. The OP asked a valid question, coming from someone that spent 11 years abroad. Abandoning everything you know and a life envied by most for a country where you have no family or friends is not an easy thing to do. In fact, he can lose that job in a few months if global uncertainty and risk continue to rise due to ongoing war in Eastern Europe.

If he loses his job in Nigeria. He has family and networks that could plug him in fast. Abroad he will need a work permit and ensure he always has one or he go see wen.

Most people saying Japa, have never lived that life.

But from the little I can tell, you don't seem like the sort of bloke living or staying in the UK so you can't understand the value of 4k pounds in terms other expenses like paying your mortgages , educating your kids and other social responsibilities that's you fuckers in Nigeria don't have a clue on[/s]

How old are you - I am positive I could be much older than you. if I may ask, what year did you Finish primary school? Not everyone on NL is a kid.

If you care to know I reside in London currently and and work as a professional so, that should tell you a thing or 2. Bethnal green where you used to reside (if true) in in Zone 2 and not too far from liverpool street where my office is located.

How can you say, someone who would earn well above 60K per annum will struggle? What of those whose annual take home pay is less than 25k per annum and are still living ok and even having mortgages?

Stop all this mis-information.

Making N1.5m every month means you are a big man. If you know what you are doing, you are better off here than over there. In the midst of the insecurity you are making N1.5m monthly, when there is no insecurity, you can make more. Your future is bright here than there.

I agree with your first paragraph but the second paragraph isn’t true. I’m a U.K. resident and I know of two persons resident in Nigeria, one a friend and another an acquaintance, who are into online tech jobs and earning over £5k a month each. They do freelance tech jobs with multinational companies in the U.K., US and Australia. So his offer is a possibility but the after tax part was either fabricated or sugar-coated.

It is very possible to earn £60,000 per year doing tech jobs. There are people that earn £1,000/day.

The question is out of the multitude of job seekers in the UK and US, why would employers employ someone based in Nigeria to do a tech job based in the UK/US? There are work visa issues to sort out, how does the person pay tax? Which bank account do they receive the salary in e.t.c. Maybe they are consultants working independently and not employees. Or they could be be employed locally to work in Nigerian subsidiaries but payed in foreign currency. Or they have some very specialist skills. What kind of tech roles are they in?

At the end of the day na still demsay unless you have seen the money go into their account with your own eyes.

Are they planning to employ you as a contract or full staff?

What is your immigration status? Do they plan to file for you or you have a PR or citizenship?

That I can only use to determine if it’s worth it.

I do not understand this question. New medical graduates do not even earn up to 4k pounds. 2k pounds in the uk after tax is a big money any time any day. What about the opportunity of becoming a UK citizen in 5 years, and you and all the generation after you, will never que for visa to over 160 countries again !
