Viridis: First, Crimea is mostly populated by native Russians. Secondly, Russia only annexed Crimea after the west overthrew the president of Ukraine in 2014. Russia's act was still a reaction not that it just went & did it out of the blues. In 2014, the west orchestrated a coup that took out the guy who was president at the time because he was a traditional pro-Russian president just like most of Ukraine's presidents have been. The west needed their own puppet & they got it in the person who became president after the coup happened & subsequently also in the current president(Zelensky). Lastly, if you're so concerned about certain countries being hostile, why are you siding with the US? US has been more hostile to more countries than anyone else I can recall... so, you're really confusing me. 1 Like |

franchasng:Chernobyl is a bad experience. It is not easy. Thank you for this. Very good observation. Russia couldn't do anything then cos NATO attacks anything. I believe they dont want to have Afghnistan, Iraq treatment. But now, it's the reverse. From observation, Putin's arrogant nature started showing without any caution after Biden pulled out of Afghanistan. He pulled out in a way that sent signal to the world that the US cant afford to fight anymore. And Putin understood it clearly. As predicted, Biden has said he is not going to war. Now, the question is that why did the Ukrianian president said ig again and again that their allies have left them alone to fight. From my own understanding too, they were to protect them. I keep asking if Afghanistan and Iraw is in NATo. On what ground or what law did NATO and the US moved to protect those nations? These are my concerns. Now, a nation which has an agreement with NATO and stopped all its nuclear program is turned down like this? Come on. Let us be realistic here. Who will ever rely on NATO again? Does it mean that attack all NATO nations means it is a free war? Then, Finland cannot join NATO as Russia can attack it. Any other nation cannot again. |

neuf: I think you should read more about the Budapest agreement. In summary, the agreement assured Ukraine that Russia, US and UK would refrain from threatening it and respect its independence and sovereignty and the existing borders if they give up their nuclear weapons (which they couldn't even launch if they wanted to because the code for laughing was in Moscow) No where in the agreement was it stated that the US would come to the aid of Ukraine if they get involved in a war. It only states that the US, UK and Russia wouldn't intimidate or attack Ukraine after giving up their nuclear weapons. By virtue of that agreement, Russia has violated the agreement because they have attacked ukraine, but the US has no commitment what so ever to defend Ukraine. The agreement only said US shouldn't attack Ukraine. Not that the US should defend Ukraine in case of a war. |

PeaceJoyLove: you're blabbing about without saying anything. Your kind are always writing long epistle without saying anything. You said that NATO pushed Ukraine into giving up its nuclear arsenal if not Russia wouldn't have attacked them now. I showed you the correct thing but as it's a requirement for joining Nairaland, you must double down on your ignorance even when it doesn't make sense. Again, you said Biden latest aid is too late that it should have come before the war. I again pointed you to the fact that there was aid before the war but here you are saying what I don't understand. Someone provided aid before the war, you now claim the one being provided during the war is too late like how? the $6.4billion that have been requested for Congress to free up for Ukraine, when that one comes what will you say? is US at war? What does Biden staying in the White House has to do Ukraine crisis. So if he leaves the White House suddenly he can't communicate with anybody or doesn't have the power to make decisions? So your idea of doing something is sitting all weekend at the White House staring at screen and doing what exactly if I may ask? He doesn't coordinate the armed forces, that is the duty of the Joint Chiefs that then report to him which they can even if he isn't at the White House. Did Bush or Obama stay all the time at the White House when US forces where in Iraq and Libya? wasn't Trump at a golf course for the weekend during the Iranian crisis? You ain't getting further replies from me cause it shows you don't know anything about anything and I can't for the life of me come down to your level |

FERNANDEZISBACK:Un-informed Nigerians abusing internet as usual, Russian don't need any body support to destroy Ukraine and it Nato deceivers. Russia is the 4th largest economy in Europe at 2020 and the world must powerful nuclear weapon. Its an insult on Russia seeking external support to defeat little Ukraine. And mind you this is not a war between Russia and Ukraine, because Ukraine is too small for that. Its Russia that is invading Ukraine's military base . Its not a war of two fighting but an invasion on Ukraine military base , which civilians ar excluded. And the aim of the Russia invasion is to change Ukraine government to their loyalist instead of NATO and America. In a full time war engagement. Russia will crush Ukraine under 30 minutes. 1 Like |

Dbegining: The EU will aid and donate to the victims/refugees but the war is a financial cash cow so nobody will donate towards the war. The Ukrainian refugees will be well looked after in comparison to any other refugees that have come through Europe. Common sense will prevail and everything will work itself out in the end. |
