I can only think of two possibilities: pilferage or faulty accounting system. Limit keeping cash in hand as much as possible and change your mode of keeping cash or where you keep it and be more vigilant.

Op take it or leave it, the charcorl method really works, my mum had same experience and that was what helped her. Do it for one day and notice the difference.

I once had similar experience years back, after a day sales of 865k, I decided that night to recount and rearrange the cash base on denomination in preparation for the next day bank deposite, after the recount everything was intact, suddenly Nepa took light and I was the only person in my clocked room, I called my house help to on the gen. Immediately the light came up,, all the 200 denomination of 230k disappeared, o boy I check all rooms of my house including the car garage...I nearly mad that night

It's very risky keeping money at home nowadays because many people did home early morning money rituals if you usually keep money a home it is very likely they get missing

Op do your research go for a good cctv camera

There are different type of cameras
Go for the one that can be connected to your phone
And you can watch what happening in the shop whenever you feel like

After installation don’t tell the workers

If possible install the camera on a sunday that way nobody we get the idea of you installing a camera

Monitor the transaction in the shop from your comfort

This way you will be able to catch the thieve

But it's best you put a small cctv camera at the front and end of the shop so that anyone including your wife won't know there's a camera, then just mind your business and watch the video footage every two days.

There lies your answer, there's nothing diabolical here, even those using piggy box to save say their money vanishes spiritually but they don't know that it's one experienced folk that's using broom or any tiny long object to remove money from it.

Taking this as a posibiliy just showed your level of intelligence...how can money be missing? Who is the accountant. Let someone be incharge of accounting while another be in charge of sales, immediately after closing hour, send the money to the bank.

I once changed money on arrival from an itinerant aboki in Lagos airport. I watched him count and I was sure I got the right amount. Went straight to my destination. Getting to my destination, I was shocked to see that a substantial sum had 'disappeared '. I called people to share my story & some of them told me that even the remaining amount would disappear before morning. I kept it on a table near my bed and watched it all through the night to see how it would fly. It didn't disappear. Obviously aboki did a fast one on me.

You don't know what or who's responsible for your missing money. As someone suggested, put a spy camera in your vault and if the problem is from there, you'll see who's stealing your money. Then, you'll discover that reality could be stranger than fiction sometimes.

Nobody is "stealing" your money, except that human error or theft is responsible. Stop believing in superstitious nonsense as it makes someone irrational and unable to act with logic.

It happened to my wife some years back. money will suddenly disappeared without Tracy, until one saw me and prophecised to me, that the man supplying goods to my wife is an occultist and the credit he grants to us he is drawing our money from it.at first I didn't believe the man until my friend told me his pastor said I should pay my supplier off every Kobo I owned him. I borrowed money and paid this evil man off, after that I started seeing progress no more money disappearing.

Go get CCTV and watch your money get back to normal, also it's not necessary that money is missing, it might be in the form of inventory, they might sell 5 bread and claim they sold 8. They already had a deal with the person who bought it to reimburse them the money when they meet outside the shop.

Be wise. Not everything is the devil's handwork.

@op I know you're thinking this is a case of witchcraftery which most times isn't.. as others have suggested here, you should monitor and balance your account more closely..

If you can get one or more computers I have a Point of Sale software I can introduce you to which will help you manage your inventory and sales effectively(think about how supermarkets operate without recording loss)
