Jesus prophesied that the Temple would be destroyed
Bible prophecy: Matthew 24:1-2
Prophecy written: During the first century
Prophecy fulfilled: 70 AD

In Matthew 24:1-2, Jesus prophesied that the Temple of Jerusalem would be destroyed and that its destruction would be so complete that not one stone would be left standing on top of another. His prophecy was fulfilled about 40 years later when the Romans destroyed Jerusalem and tore down the Temple. The destruction was so complete that even the foundations of the Temple were dug up, according to Josephus, an historian who wrote about the destruction. - Copyright © George Konig, Ray Konig and 100Prophecies.org

Matthew 24:1-2:

1 Jesus left the temple and was walking away when his disciples came up to him to call his attention to its buildings.

2 "Do you see all these things?" he asked. "I tell you the truth, not one stone here will be left on another; every one will be thrown down."

Jesus prophesied that the Jews would be exiled
Bible prophecy: Luke 21:24
Prophecy written: During the first century
Prophecy fulfilled: 70 AD

In Luke 21:24, Jesus said that Jerusalem would be trampled upon by foreigners and that the people of Israel would be forced into exile.

About 40 years after Jesus delivered that prophecy, it began to find fulfillment. The Romans destroyed Jerusalem in the year 70, and again in the year 135.

During the first destruction, Josephus, an historian who lived during the first century, claimed that 1.1 million Jews died and that hundreds of thousands were forced out of the country and into exile and slavery.

During the second destruction, Cassius Dio, an historian who lived during the second century, claimed that 580,000 Jews were killed, and that 50 fortified towns and 985 villages were destroyed.

The exiled Jews were taken to countries throughout the Roman Empire and eventually scattered and re-scattered throughout the world. - Copyright © George Konig, Ray Konig and 100Prophecies.org

Luke 21:24:

They will fall by the sword and will be taken as prisoners to all the nations. Jerusalem will be trampled on by the Gentiles until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled.

Jesus explained why Jerusalem would be destroyed
Bible prophecy: Luke 19:41-44
Prophecy written: During the first century
Prophecy fulfilled: 70 AD

In Luke 19:41-44, Jesus prophesied that Jerusalem would be destroyed because of the rejection of Jesus as the Messiah.

Although some people did accept Jesus as the Messiah, many people rejected him. In fact, the rejection was strong enough that Jesus was executed a short time after uttering the prophecy. - Copyright © George Konig, Ray Konig and 100Prophecies.org

Luke 19:41-44:

41 As he approached Jerusalem and saw the city, he wept over it

42 and said, "If you, even you, had only known on this day what would bring you peace—but now it is hidden from your eyes.

43 The days will come upon you when your enemies will build an embankment against you and encircle you and hem you in on every side.

44 They will dash you to the ground, you and the children within your walls. They will not leave one stone on another, because you did not recognize the time of God's coming to you."

Daniel foretold the destruction of Jerusalem and the Temple
Bible prophecy: Daniel 9:24-26
Prophecy written: About 530 BC
Prophecy fulfilled: 70 AD

During the time of Daniel, who lived about 2600 years ago, the Babylonians invaded Judah (the southern part of the land of Israel) and took many Jews, including Daniel, as captives to Babylon.

The Babylonians also destroyed the city of Jerusalem and the Temple, in 586 B.C.

In Daniel 9:24-26, Daniel delivers a prophecy that Jerusalem and the Temple would be destroyed, again. Within these verses, Daniel provides a chronology by which certain events would occur. First, the Jews would return from captivity and rebuild Jerusalem and the Temple. Afterwards, an "anointed one," or Messiah, would appear, but he would be rejected. Then, Jerusalem and the Temple would be destroyed, again.

These events later played out during the century in which Jesus had announced that he was the Messiah. - Copyright © George Konig, Ray Konig and 100Prophecies.org

Daniel 9:24-26:

24 "Seventy 'sevens' are decreed for your people and your holy city to finish transgression, to put an end to sin, to atone for wickedness, to bring in everlasting righteousness, to seal up vision and prophecy and to anoint the most holy.

25 "Know and understand this: From the issuing of the decree to restore and rebuild Jerusalem until the Anointed One, the ruler, comes, there will be seven 'sevens,' and sixty-two 'sevens.' It will be rebuilt with streets and a trench, but in times of trouble.

26 After the sixty-two 'sevens,' the Anointed One will be cut off and will have nothing. The people of the ruler who will come will destroy the city and the sanctuary. The end will come like a flood: War will continue until the end, and desolations have been decreed.

Zion would be "plowed like a field"
Bible prophecy: Micah 3:11-12
Prophecy written: Sometime between 750-686 BC
Prophecy fulfilled: 135 AD

In Micah 3:11-12, the prophet Micah said that Jerusalem would be destroyed and that "Zion" - a central part of Jerusalem - would be "plowed like a field."

Micah's prophecy is believed to have been delivered in about 730 BC (about 2700 years ago). Since that time, Jerusalem was destroyed in 586 BC by the Babylonians and by the Romans in 70 AD. The Romans destroyed it again in 135 AD to crush a second Jewish rebellion for independence.

According to a text in the Gemara - a collection of ancient Jewish writings - the Romans ran a plow over Zion on the 9th day of the Jewish month of Ab. The Gemara said that Turnus Rufus, a Roman officer, plowed the area of the Temple. This prophecy was fulfilled in literal detail.

Incidentally, there was a Roman coin minted during that era that shows an image of a man using a plow. The coin was intended to commemorate the founding of the pagan Roman city called Aelia Capitolina on the site of Jerusalem. The Romans sometimes minted coins showing the plowing motif as a symbol of the establishment of a new Roman city.

Judaists fast (go without food) on the 9th day of the Jewish month of Ab (sometimes spelled Av) in remembrance of five historic events that are recorded as occurring on that date. One of those events is the plowing of all or part of Jerusalem by the Romans. - Copyright © George Konig, Ray Konig and 100Prophecies.org

Micah 3:11-12:

11 Her leaders judge for a bribe, her priests teach for a price, and her prophets tell fortunes for money. Yet they lean upon the LORD and say, "Is not the LORD among us? No disaster will come upon us."

12 Therefore because of you, Zion will be plowed like a field, Jerusalem will become a heap of rubble, the temple hill a mound overgrown with thickets.

The Bible foreshadowed Rome's destruction of Israel
Bible prophecy: Deuteronomy 28:49-52
Prophecy written: As early as 1400 BC
Prophecy fulfilled: 70 AD

The Bible has several prophecies foretelling the destruction of the land of Israel, including one in the book of Deuteronomy that coincides with the manner in which the Roman army destroyed the land of Israel during the first and second centuries:

"The Lord will bring a nation against you from far away, from the ends of the earth, like an eagle swooping down . . . They will lay siege to all the cities throughout your land until the high fortified walls in which you trust fall down." (Portions of Deuteronomy 28:49-52, NIV translation).

The Romans oppressively ruled over the land of Israel for a century before the Jews waged two wars for independence, the first beginning in 67 AD and the second beginning in about 132 AD. Both wars resulted in great destruction to the land and people of Israel.

An ancient historian named Cassius Dio claimed that the Roman army had razed to the ground 985 villages throughout Israel. If the figure is to believed, then it might be including settlements, along with cities and towns, throughout the land. The writings of Cassius Dio, along with those from Josephus, another first-century historian, indicate that the Roman army's destruction of Israel was very complete.

The prophecy also speaks of an eagle in reference to the army that would swoop down upon Israel and reduce it to a state of desolation. As we learn from historians, including Tacitus who lived during the first century, the Romans marched with standards - poles adorned with the eagle figurines - held high above their heads, as though the eagles were in flight.

Another feature of the prophecy is that it speaks of armies being gathered from the ends of the earth. The Romans had armies scattered throughout parts of Europe, Africa and Asia. To quell the Jewish uprising, some troops had to be called in from as far away as the British Isles. - Copyright © George Konig, Ray Konig and 100Prophecies.org

Deuteronomy 28:49-52:

49 The LORD will bring a nation against you from far away, from the ends of the earth, like an eagle swooping down, a nation whose language you will not understand,

50 a fierce-looking nation without respect for the old or pity for the young.

51 They will devour the young of your livestock and the crops of your land until you are destroyed. They will leave you no grain, new wine or oil, nor any calves of your herds or lambs of your flocks until you are ruined.

52 They will lay siege to all the cities throughout your land until the high fortified walls in which you trust fall down. They will besiege all the cities throughout the land the LORD your God is giving you.

Israel would become a wasteland
Bible prophecy: Deuteronomy 29:23
Prophecy written: As early as 1400 BC
Prophecy fulfilled: At different times in history

In Deuteronomy 29:23, the Bible said Israel would become a wasteland. This prophecy certainly was fulfilled. The land has been described many times as having been a sparsely populated wasteland, as recently as the late 1800s and early 1900s.

American writer Mark Twain wrote this, in 1867, about the land of Israel, which at the time was called Palestine: "Palestine sits in sackcloth and ashes… the spell of a curse that has withered its fields and fettered its energies… Palestine is desolate and unlovely… It is a hopeless, dreary, heartbroken land." - Copyright © George Konig, Ray Konig and 100Prophecies.org

Deuteronomy 29:23:

The whole land will be a burning waste of salt and sulfur—nothing planted, nothing sprouting, no vegetation growing on it. It will be like the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah, Admah and Zeboiim, which the LORD overthrew in fierce anger.

Tyre's fortresses would fail
Bible prophecy: Amos 1:9-10
Prophecy written: About 750 BC
Prophecy fulfilled: 333-332 BC

In Amos 1:9-10, the prophet said that God would cause Tyre's protective fortresses to fail, as punishment for the way that Tyre treated Israel. That prophecy was fulfilled in 586-573 BC when Babylonian king Nebuchadnezzar attacked the mainland of Tyre, and in 333-332 BC when Alexander the Great conquered the island of Tyre. Alexander's army built a land bridge from the mainland to the island so that they could use a battering ram to break through the island's fortress. - Copyright © George Konig, Ray Konig and 100Prophecies.org

Amos 1:9-10:

This is what the Lord says: "For three sins of Tyre, even for four, I will not turn back [my wrath]. Because she sold whole communities of captives to Edom, disregarding a treaty of brotherhood, I will send fire upon the walls of Tyre that will consume her fortresses."

Tyre would be attacked by many nations
Bible prophecy: Ezekiel 26:3
Prophecy written: Between 587-586 BC
Prophecy fulfilled: 573 BC, 332 BC, etc.

In Ezekiel 26:3, the prophet said that Tyre, the Phoenician Empire's most powerful city, would be attacked by many nations, because of its treatment of Israel. At about the time that Ezekiel delivered this prophecy, Babylon had begun a 13-year attack on Tyre's mainland. Later, in about 332 BC, Alexander the Great conquered the island of Tyre and brought an end to the Phoenician Empire. - Copyright © George Konig, Ray Konig and 100Prophecies.org

Ezekiel 26:3:

therefore this is what the Sovereign Lord says: I am against you, O Tyre, and I will bring many nations against you, like the sea casting up its waves.

Tyre's stones, timber and soil would be cast into the sea
Bible prophecy: Ezekiel 26:12
Prophecy written: Between 587-586 BC
Prophecy fulfilled: 333-332 BC

In Ezekiel 26:12, the prophet said that Tyre's stones, timber and soil would be thrown into the sea. Ezekiel's prophecy accurately describes how Alexander the Great built a land bridge from the mainland to the island of Tyre, when he attacked in 333-332 BC. Alexander's forces took rubble from Tyre's mainland and tossed it - stones, timber and soil - into the sea, to build the land bridge (which is still there). - Copyright © George Konig, Ray Konig and 100Prophecies.org

Ezekiel 26:12:

They will plunder your wealth and loot your merchandise; they will break down your walls and demolish your fine houses and throw your stones, timber and rubble into the sea.

Tyre would lose its power over the sea
Bible prophecy: Zechariah 9:3-4
Prophecy written: Between 520 and 518 BC
Prophecy fulfilled: Since 332 BC

In Zechariah 9:3-4, the prophet said that the Phoenician city of Tyre would lose its status as a powerful nation on the Mediterranean Sea. Today there is a city called Tyre that is either on, or near, the original Phoenician site. But this Tyre is a small city in modern-day Lebanon. It is certainly not the powerful nation that it was in the days of Zechariah. - Copyright © George Konig, Ray Konig and 100Prophecies.org

Zechariah 9:3-4:

Tyre has built herself a stronghold; she has heaped up silver like dust, and gold like the dirt of the streets.
But the Lord will take away her possessions and destroy her power on the sea, and she will be consumed by fire.

Phoenician Tyre would never again be found
Bible prophecy: Ezekiel 26:21
Prophecy written: Between 587-586 BC
Prophecy fulfilled: After 332 BC

In Ezekiel 26:21, the prophet said that the Phoenician city of Tyre would be brought to an end and would never again be found. When Alexander the Great destroyed the city in 332 BC, he brought an end to the Phoenician Empire. The Empire was never revived or "found" again. As for the city itself, it has been torn down and built upon by a succession of foreign powers. Today, finding artifacts from the original Phoenician Tyre is difficult. According to the Columbia Encyclopedia, Fifth Edition: "The principal ruins of the city today are those of buildings erected by the Crusaders. There are some Greco-Roman remains, but any left by the Phoenicians lie underneath the present town." - Copyright © George Konig, Ray Konig and 100Prophecies.org

Ezekiel 26:21:

I will bring you to a horrible end and you will be no more. You will be sought, but you will never again be found, declares the Sovereign Lord."

Phoenician Tyre would never be rebuilt
Bible prophecy: Ezekiel 26:14
Prophecy written: Between 587-586 BC
Prophecy fulfilled: Since 332 BC

In Ezekiel 26:14, the prophet says the Phoenician city of Tyre would be destroyed and never be rebuilt. This was fulfilled when Alexander the Great conquered Tyre in 332 BC. His conquest brought an end to the Phoenician Empire. The empire never recovered from the attack. And so, it could never rebuild Tyre. Other nations and empires have built and rebuilt cities on or near the original Phoenician site. - Copyright © George Konig, Ray Konig and 100Prophecies.org

Ezekiel 26:14:

I will make you a bare rock, and you will become a place to spread fishnets. You will never be rebuilt, for I the Lord have spoken, declares the Sovereign Lord.

So much for prophecy. There is much more, but let me leave it at that. . . .Mazaje, can you claim that the koran or veda texts contain such outstanding prophecies like this - - - and so so many? ? ?

Koran no even get one single prophecy, except plagiariazation from the OT. . . .

now let us proceed to archaelogy.

Gray Beard:

There is one more factor I did not list:

5. Scientific accuracy.

I will address this first so as to get it out of the way. The fact is that there are so many astonishing scientific details that could not possibly have been known by the men of those days. Many of those details were only discovered by regular science in more advanced times many many centuriues later. Most of them have to do with cosmology and the Earth, and only a being with oversight over all these could have mediated such information to bible writers.

Your assertion here is very false. . .As to science the ancient Jews appear crude and stunted compared to other cultures   Many scientific details were known by men of those days that lived in other cultures. Their scientific knowledge was more precise and accurate. When it comes to astronomy and cosmology the ancient Greeks beat the ancient Jews hands down. . .Even though some of their reasoning were crude, the Greeks nevertheless laid down patterns of thought that we follow to this day. The ancient Greeks used what we now call observation, reasoning and science.

*Thales: The first of the Greek philosophers, c. 629-555 B.C. He thought the planets, stars, sun, moon, and earth were all composed of different forms of water. He appears to be the first to assert that celestial bodies were not gods, but were made of familiar substance. In those mystical times, this was a radical departure.

*Pythagoras of Samos (c. 580-500 B.C.): Showed that nature could be described by mathematics. Described the musical scale in terms of number ratios and thought that the "spheres that carry the planets" must be arranged in ratios that would be musically harmonious. (Hence the phrase "music of the spheres".)

*Democritus (ca. 460 BC – ca. 370 BC) Democritus held that the earth was round, and stated that originally the universe was comprised of nothing but tiny atoms churning in chaos, until they collided together to form larger units—including the earth and everything on it.[2] He surmised that there are many worlds, some growing, some decaying; some with no sun or moon, some with several. He held that every world has a beginning and an end, and that a world could be destroyed by collision with another world.

* Epicurus341 BCE – 270 BCE):  Epicurus like Democritus, he was an atomist, believing that the fundamental constituents of the world were indivisible little bits of matter (atoms, Greek atomos, indivisible) flying through empty space (khaos). Everything that occurs is the result of the atoms colliding, rebounding, and becoming entangled with one another, with no purpose or plan behind their motions

*Anaximander
(c. 610 BC – c. 546 BC) Anaximander was the first recorded person to suggest the Earth is a sphere. Erastothenes basically worked out the circumference. It was proven 1800 years later by Magellan's voyage.

* Archytas of Tarentum (400 B.C.) asserts that sound was propagated by a medium (air or water).

*Anaxagoras (500 BC – 428 BC) thought that the sun was not just a small glowing circle of light. He thought of it as a large glowing rock, larger than the Peloponnese peninsula. For that belief he was exiled.

*Aristarchus of Samos (310 BC – ca. 230 BC) Aristarchus suggests that the heavenly bodies revolve around the sun and calculated (because of the lack of parallax) that the stars were extrememly far away.

*Aristotle(384 BC – 322 BC): Classified the dolphins as mammals and not fish, as he noticed they bore their young alive with umbilical cords attached.

He: *Proposed elementary laws of motion.
*Affirmed spherical, stationary earth and heavenly spheres on which the sun, moon, and planets moved.
*Laid down much of the basis for other branches of philosophical thought (e.g. logic, ethics).
*Was influential in Europe in the middle ages.

*Pytheas: (4th century BC) correctly asserts that tides are related to the phases of the moon.

A brief list of such scientific details which no one of the time could possibly have known are –

 Roundness of the earth (Isaiah 40:22)

 Almost infinite extent of the sidereal universe (Isaiah 55:9)

 Law of conservation of mass and energy (II Peter 3:7)

 Hydrologic cycle (Ecclesiastes 1:7)

 Vast number of stars (Jeremiah 33:22)

 Law of increasing entropy (Psalm 102:25-27)

 Paramount importance of blood in life processes (Leviticus 17:11)

 Atmospheric circulation (Ecclesiastes 1:6)

 Gravitational field (Job 26:7)

Pls compare the above scientific exploits of the ancient Greeks and the jargon you wrote from the bible. . .Must of what you quoted from the bible have absolutely nothing to do with any scientific explanations at all. . .You are just forcing the passages to say what they are NOT saying. . .I will also give you a list of unscientific stuffs that are to be found in the bible later. . .

Bros, if you can find a way to explain away one or two instances, will yuou be so delusional as to deny that ALL the instances taken together, point clearly to a source of knowledge not available in those times?

We will discuss these in detail later. There is also much more. But let us for now start with prophecy.

I will be back to address all the prophecy stuff. . .

You lied that the "scientific" details could not possibly have been known by men of those days and only a being with over sight could have mediated such information to them. . .And I showed you that the Greeks of that time had better scientific knowledge of the earth and the cosmos. . . .

Isaiah 40:2222 He sits enthroned above the circle of the earth,
and its people are like grasshoppers.
He stretches out the heavens like a canopy,
and spreads them out like a tent to live in.

Roundness of the earth, eh?. . .If we are to read this literally we have the passage saying that God sits above the circle of the earth. . .How true is that?. . . .There is nothing scientific here, we have a person expressing his thoughts, what exactly does it mean to stretch out the heavens like a canopy and spread them like a tenth?. . .Assuming the heavens mean the universe are we to believe that the universe looks like a tenth?. . .

Isaiah 55:9
9 “As the heavens are higher than the earth,
so are my ways higher than your ways
and my thoughts than your thoughts.

Pls where in the above statement does it talk about the almost infinite extent of the sidereal universe? Is this a joke or what?. . .Na wah ohh. . . .

2 Peter 3:7
7 By the same word the present heavens and earth are reserved for fire, being kept for the day of judgment and destruction of the ungodly.

What the hell is this Na wah ohhh. . . .The law of conservation of mass and energy states that the total amount of energy in a system remains constant over time, it implies that energy can neither be created nor be destroyed: it can only be transformed from one state to another. For instance chemical energy can become kinetic energy. How does the above drivel come close to law of conservation of mass and energy? Pls take time to read what you get on Christian apologist websites to see if they make sense before distributing them. . . .

Ecclesiastes 1:7
7 All streams flow into the sea,
yet the sea is never full.
To the place the streams come from,
  there they return again.

Here is what the Hydrologic cycle states: "The continuous process by which water is circulated throughout the Earth and its atmosphere. The Earth's water enters the atmosphere through evaporation from bodies of water and from ground surfaces. Plants and animals also add water vapor to the air by transpiration. As it rises into the atmosphere, the water vapor condenses to form clouds. Rain and other forms of precipitation return it to the Earth, where it flows into bodies of water and into the ground, beginning the cycle again. Also called water cycle", . . .

Pls how does the drivel from the passage in Ecclesiastes come close to the water cycle?. . .Is it not the same Ecclesiastes that states that the sun moves round the earth?. . . . .

Ecc 1:5 The sun rises and the sun sets, and hurries back to where it rises.

What nonsense is this?. . . .when does the sun hurries back to where it rises?. . . .

Jeremiah 33:22
22 I will make the descendants of David my servant and the Levites who minister before me as countless as the stars in the sky and as measureless as the sand on the seashore.’”

Ok, fair enough it talks about the stars being many but the ancient Greeks had a better knowledge of the stars than the writers of the bible , no? The same writers of the bible wrote that the stars will fall into the earth some day, no?. . . .

Psalm 102:25-27
25 In the beginning you laid the foundations of the earth,
and the heavens are the work of your hands.
26 They will perish, but you remain;
they will all wear out like a garment.
Like clothing you will change them
  and they will be discarded.
27 But you remain the same,
and your years will never end

What the hell is this?. . .The second law of thermodynamics states that in general the total entropy of any system will not decrease other than by increasing the entropy of some other system. How does the nonsense is the book of psalms come close pls? shocked grin

Leviticus 17:11
11 For the life of a creature is in the blood, and I have given it to you to make atonement for yourselves on the altar; it is the blood that makes atonement for one’s life.[a]

Even bronze age men knew that blood was important, no?. . . .Compare this to the ancient Greeks that first discovered the atom. . .

Ecclesiastes 1:6
6 The wind blows to the south
  and turns to the north;
round and round it goes,
  ever returning on its course

Ok, fair enough. . .This one makes sense. . . .and is close to atmospheric circulation. . . . .

Job 26:7
7 He spreads out the northern skies over empty space;
he suspends the earth over nothing.

How does this come close to gravitational field?. . .
Re: A Question For Gray Beard by thehomer: 3:28pm On Aug 15, 2011
This Gray Beard character really loves the rectum.

Suspending the earth over nothing simply says nothing about gravity because the concept of gravity implies that the earth is not suspended. Something being suspended means it is attached above and hanging downwards but with gravity, there is no up or down.

When The Lord JESUS CHRIST, The Lord of all, returns, imminently, there will be no delusion, only reality!  I wish you well, truly, please watch and pray.

"And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels, In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ: Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power;" - 2 Thessalonians 1:7-9

Theatrics and a lot of fun (for now) ! I think Gray-Beard started with issues that need quite a bit of faith. I would have started with prophecy then brought these after "when" a bit more trust could be expected.

@mazaje:

Concerning the issue of conservation of energy within a "closed system" -

faith-mongers (LIKE ME) believe in the supernatural while you do not. If we are right, then what we call the supernatural exists OUTSIDE of the closed system (reality) that is normally available to humans. This would totally negate the principles of energy constancy! I have used fish before as example and will do so again.

Say you breed fish in a pond. They are hatched there, grow there and die there. To all intents and purposes and from the perspective of these fish. THAT is their universe. Now say for some reason, you, owner of that system AND owner of some same-like others, have cause to transfer 1 of these to another "system" but later say 2 days later, return it to the initial "closed" system. On return, it meets as before it went on its "supernatural experience" some bigger, some more educated, some more sexy, some very insultive, some fanatical etc and spreads tales of a "system" outside - what do you figure as response? I assume of course, that fish communicate (as we know all life does within species), have their own "timing" system etc. The works! Supernatural suddenly becomes a concept that "can" be possible if we remove our "insolence" that we are the best thing since sliced bread.

That is "our" reality and I sincerely believe the difference in perceptions and explanation comes from differing levels of intellect, communication skills and possibly "worlds" outside this "our general KNOWN" closed system. Of course, there is also the greed, selfishness and deception some use these matters for!

Above assumes a lot to come to conclusion yet is not too far-fetched. Neither is it more inconceivable than your idea of negating other ideas without "proof" that you're being sold a lie simply because you're not the fish the owner "took someplace else".

Gray Beard:

Why you norr fit use ya brain?

My brain power is too important to spend on the sort of aberrant ranting that you carry out here.

Gray Beard:

What force of attraction from the sun keeps the earth suspended in place?

The earth is not suspended in place. It is undergoing its own motion along the gravity well of the sun. In the presence of gravity, suspension only applies when one's upper pole is away from the source of gravity and this changes as the body moves in the gravity field. So, the earth is not suspended in the sense of the word.

Gray Beard:

Also these ancient peeps had no idea that the earth was not physically supported as was widely believed at the time. Thay had not viewed the earth from space and yet were able to tell that it was suspended. . . .on nothing. . . .? - - - HOW DID THE PROPHET KNOW THIS? ? ? ?

The problem is that the earth is not suspended period. The word "suspended" simply does not apply. They would have been better off saying the earth is neither suspended nor resting on anything but is being attracted to the sun (or something along those lines).

Gray Beard:

Commot from my sunday school jaare, you imbecilic remnant of the kelebe from the nose of a baboon, and best for you to return to your day job of abepo!

Osanobua ooooooooooooooo! ! ! !

There is nothing more despicable than a pseudo intellectual who shamelessly parrots ridiculous lies and self-contradiction without having the decency to apologize.

This bomboclaerk called thehomer first of all said that the passage cited had nothing whatsoever to do with gravity.

Make una see o -

thehomer:
Suspending the earth over nothing simply says nothing about gravity because the concept of gravity implies that the earth is not suspended.

When I called him out on WHAT exactly is the force holding the earth in its orbit around the sun, the juvenile bed-wetter comes around and says this –

The earth is not suspended in place. It is undergoing its own motion along the gravity well of the sun.

so the mo.ro.n accepts that the Earth’s motion is indeed along the “gravity well” of the sun.

This is why I will never have any respect whatsoever for these pseudo intellectuals who in their rabid bid to discredit the bible end up foaming at the mouth like the truly epileptic and delusional retards that they are.

The problem is that the earth is not suspended period. The word "suspended" simply does not apply. They would have been better off saying the earth is neither suspended nor resting on anything but is being attracted to the sun (or something along those lines).

More garbage. What does the word suspended mean for you in this context. This slowpoke actually thinks it means suspension from school. . . .the idea of being stationary, etc. Grow up. It simply means that it is held along its place without solid physical support.

Frankly you are so fabulously stooopid in your own delusion that I wonder that I can be bothered to respond to you.

What is an abepo?

S.hit carrier. That’s obviously what ya brains are made of. You are easily the daftest person I have seen on this forum.

@ Gray Beard

I don't even know what to make of your prophecies. . . .I expect to see clear cut prophecies that are specific not some vague prophecies about incidents that happened thousands of years ago, that are not verifiable. . . .Prophecies like, in the man is going to fly to the moon, or build station(houses) in space. Or man is going to build a car, discover electricity, discover elements etc. . . . .All I see and just nonsense. . . . .

Firstly, you need to know that some of your prophecies were written after the events had happened. . . For example. . .

Gray Beard:

The problem with this prophecy is that the book of Luke was written long after the destruction of the temple. . .Its much easier to make prophecy after the events have happened, no?. . . .The book of Luke was written years after the destruction of the temple. So how is that supposed to be a prophecy?. . . .One of the reason's I don't accept the prophecies of the bible is because a lot of the books were written by unknown authors after the events they wrote about happened. . . . .It is a well known fact that most of the writers of the bible are unknown. . .The books were named after some figures to give them legitimacy. According to tradition Moses wrote the first 5 books  of the bible but that is false. . . .The books were attributed to Moses. . . . .

As for the prohecies written in the book of Daniel all I have to say to you is to follow this link and you will see how the prophecies were debunked one after the other by a historian. . . The book of Daniel was written by two people after the events had happened. . . .
Re: A Question For Gray Beard by GrayBeard: 6:33pm On Aug 15, 2011

Some unfulfilled Prophecies in the bible. . . .

*According to Jos 17:17-18, Ephraim and Manasseh will drive out the Canaanites, but according to Jg 1:27-29, they did not drive out the Canaanites.

*Jer 34:5 prophesied that Zedekiah will die in peace, but according to 2Ki 25:7 and Jer 52:10-11, that did not happen. Instead, he saw his sons killed, was carried off in chains, blinded, and eventually died in prison.

*Am 7:17 prophesied that Amaziah's sons will die by the sword, but according to 2Ch 26:1,21, Amaziah's son Uzziah died of leprosy.

* According to Ex 3:8, the Israelites will live in a large land, flowing with milk and honey, and according to 2Sa 7:10, they will not be disturbed anymore, but as a matter of historical fact Israel (and vicinity) has been a relatively small and mostly barren land, and the Israelites have been continually harassed from all sides.

* According to Isa 19:5, Eze 30:12, and Zec 10:11, the Nile River will dry up, and according to Eze 29:9-12, Egypt will become desolate for 40 years, with no man or animal passing through it and with all Egyptians dispersed, but as a matter of fact the Nile River has never dried up and in the whole history of Egypt no such calamitous events have ever occurred.

* According to Isa 14:23, Babylon will become a swapland, but that never happened. According to Jer 51:36, Babylon will become totally dry, but that never happened either. According to other verses, Babylon will never be inhabited by people again and God said that he will completely cut of Babylon, her name and survivors, but in fact Babylon has been continually inhabited by people since that time. It is now part of Iraq.

* According to Isa 34:9-10, Edom (the land between the Dead Sea and Gulf of Aqaba) will become burning pitch forever: no one will ever pass through it again because It's fire will not be quenched night and day; its smoke will rise forever. From generation to generation. But in truth that has never happened to Edom. People have passed through it for thousands of years up till today.

* There are other false historical prophecies in the book of daniel that never took place concerning certain people that lived and died like  Nebuchadnezzar and Jehoiakim.

Akata man! Bible prophecies are fulfilled in such exact detail that some naysayers now say they were written after the fact! Looooooooooooooooooosers!

Oya, what about OT prophecies about Jesu Christi. Weere they also written AFTER CHRIST? ? ? - - -

The Messiah would be preceded by a messenger
Bible prophecy: Isaiah 40:1-5,9
Prophecy written: Between 701-681 BC
Prophecy fulfilled: About 27 AD

In Isaiah 40:3, the prophet writes about a person in the desert who prepares the way for the Lord. This prophecy foreshadowed the life of John the Baptist, who played an important role in preparing the groundwork for the ministry of Jesus Christ. Jesus was born shortly after John the Baptist about 2000 years ago. The book of Matthew records many events of the life of Jesus and of John the Baptist. In Matthew 3:1-2, it says: "In those days John the Baptist came, preaching in the Desert of Judea, and saying, Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is near." - Copyright © George Konig, Ray Konig and 100Prophecies.org

Isaiah 40:1-5,9:

1 Comfort, comfort my people, says your God.

2 Speak tenderly to Jerusalem, and proclaim to her that her hard service has been completed, that her sin has been paid for, that she has received from the LORD's hand double for all her sins.

3 A voice of one calling: "In the desert prepare the way for the LORD; make straight in the wilderness a highway for our God.

4 Every valley shall be raised up, every mountain and hill made low; the rough ground shall become level, the rugged places a plain.

5 And the glory of the LORD will be revealed, and all mankind together will see it. For the mouth of the LORD has spoken."

9 . . . say to the towns of Judah, "Here is your God!"

He would perform miracles
Bible prophecy: Isaiah 35:4-6
Prophecy written: Between 701-681 BC
Prophecy fulfilled: About 27-31 AD

Isaiah, who lived about 2700 years ago, prophesied that there would come a time when God would arrive and heal the eyes of the blind, the ears of the deaf, the mobility of the lame, and the voice of the mute.

Jesus did each of these things in a spiritual sense, in offering truth and salvation, and in a literal sense by performing miracles of healing.

The web site at About-Jesus.org provides details about 34 miracles performed by Jesus. - Copyright © George Konig, Ray Konig and 100Prophecies.org

Isaiah 35:4-6:

4 say to those with fearful hearts, "Be strong, do not fear; your God will come, he will come with vengeance; with divine retribution he will come to save you."

5 Then will the eyes of the blind be opened and the ears of the deaf unstopped.

6 Then will the lame leap like a deer, and the mute tongue shout for joy. Water will gush forth in the wilderness and streams in the desert.

God promised another prophet like Moses
Bible prophecy: Deuteronomy 18:15-18
Prophecy written: As early as 1400 BC
Prophecy fulfilled: About 5 BC to 31 AD

In Deuteronomy 18:15-18, Moses told the Jews that God would raise up another prophet like Moses. After Moses, there was a succession of prophets, including Isaiah, Jeremiah and Ezekiel, and finally Jesus Christ. Jesus was very much like Moses. Both were delivered from death as infants. Both were prophets. Both performed miracles. Both were leaders. And both were intermediaries between God and man. Moses offered to die, if necessary, if God would forgive the sins of the people that Moses was leading (see Exodus 32:30-33). Jesus did die for our sins, so that people could enter the Kingdom of Heaven. No other prophet is as much like Moses than Jesus. - Copyright © George Konig, Ray Konig and 100Prophecies.org

Deuteronomy 18:15-18:

15 The LORD your God will raise up for you a prophet like me from among your own brothers. You must listen to him.

16 For this is what you asked of the LORD your God at Horeb on the day of the assembly when you said, "Let us not hear the voice of the LORD our God nor see this great fire anymore, or we will die."

17 The LORD said to me: "What they say is good.

18 I will raise up for them a prophet like you from among their brothers; I will put my words in his mouth, and he will tell them everything I command him.

The Messiah would enter Jerusalem while riding on a donkey
Bible prophecy: Zechariah 9:9
Prophecy written: Between 520 and 518 BC
Prophecy fulfilled: About 31 AD

In Zechariah 9:9, the prophet speaks of a future king presenting himself to Jerusalem while riding on a humble donkey. This foreshadowed something that happened about 500 years later. As explained in Luke 19:35-37, Jesus rode into Jerusalem on a donkey and presented himself as the Messiah, the King.
Alfred Edersheim, a Christian Jew who lived during the 1800s, studied ancient Rabbinical writings, and said that Zechariah 9:9 was often interpreted as being about a Messiah. In his book, The Life and Times of Jesus the Messiah, Edersheim wrote: "The Messianic application of this verse in all its parts has already been repeatedly indicated. We may here add that there are many traditions about this donkey on which the Messiah is to ride; and so firm was the belief in it, that, according to the Talmud, 'if anyone saw a donkey in his dreams, he will see salvation' (Ber 56 b)."

The name "Jesus," means "salvation" in Hebrew. - Copyright © George Konig, Ray Konig and 100Prophecies.org

Zechariah 9:9:

Rejoice greatly, O Daughter of Zion! Shout, Daughter of Jerusalem! See, your king comes to you, righteous and having salvation, gentle and riding on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a donkey.

Jesus proclaims that he is the Messiah
Bible prophecy: John 4:19-26
Prophecy written: During the first century
Prophecy fulfilled: Since the time of Jesus

In Matthew 5:17, John 4:25-26, and in other verses, Jesus proclaims that he was the Messiah promised by the Old Testament prophets. Jesus remains the first and only person in history to be taken seriously by people throughout the world as being the Messiah that so many of the Bible's prophets had prophesied about. - Copyright © George Konig, Ray Konig and 100Prophecies.org

John 4:19-26:

19 "Sir," the woman said, "I can see that you are a prophet.

20 Our fathers worshiped on this mountain, but you Jews claim that the place where we must worship is in Jerusalem."

21 Jesus declared, "Believe me, woman, a time is coming when you will worship the Father neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem.

22 You Samaritans worship what you do not know; we worship what we do know, for salvation is from the Jews.

23 Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks.

24 God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in spirit and in truth."

25 The woman said, "I know that Messiah" (called Christ) "is coming. When he comes, he will explain everything to us."

26 Then Jesus declared, "I who speak to you am he."

There would be a son called God
Bible prophecy: Isaiah 9:6-7
Prophecy written: Between 701-681 BC
Prophecy fulfilled: About 5 BC

In Isaiah 9:6-7, which was written about 700 years before the time of Jesus, the prophet Isaiah speaks of a son who would be called "Mighty God" and "Eternal Father." Isaiah also indicates that this son would reign on the throne of King David and that this reign would be everlasting. King David is the great, God-obeying king who reigned from about 1050 BC to about 1010 BC. God had promised King David that the reign from David's throne would be everlasting. Christians acknowledge that this promise is fulfilled in Jesus Christ, who is a descendant of King David, and whose reign is everlasting. Today, the teachings of Jesus govern the lives of as many as an estimated 2 billion Christians worldwide. The New Testament also says that Jesus will return in the future and that his kingdom will have no end. - Copyright © George Konig, Ray Konig and 100Prophecies.org

Isaiah 9:6-7:

6 For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

7 Of the increase of his government and peace there will be no end. He will reign on David's throne and over his kingdom, establishing and upholding it with justice and righteousness from that time on and forever. The zeal of the LORD Almighty will accomplish this.

The Messiah would be rejected
Bible prophecy: Isaiah 53:1-3
Prophecy written: Between 701-681 BC
Prophecy fulfilled: About 31 AD

In Isaiah 52:13-53:12, the prophet foreshadowed the life and mission of Jesus, who was born about 700 years later. In Isaiah 53:3, the prophet said that a servant of God would be rejected and despised. Jesus was indeed rejected by many people living in the land of Israel, and He was later crucified by the Romans.

It has been claimed by some commentators that Isaiah 52:13-53:12 actually refers to Israel as a nation and not to an individual Messiah. But, there are several commentaries written by rabbis that confirm that the prophecy refers to a Messiah and not to a nation. Several examples of these writings are listed in the book, The Fifty-Third Chapter of Isaiah According to the Jewish Interpreters, edited by S.R. Driver and A.D. Neubauer. Here are two examples from that book:

"Our Rabbis with one voice accept and affirm the opinion that the prophet is speaking of the King Messiah, and we shall ourselves also adhere to the same view." - Rabbi Moshe Alshekh, 16th century.

"But he was wounded for our transgressions, bruised for our iniquities, the meaning of which is that since the Messiah bears our iniquities which produce the effect of his being bruised, it follows that whoso will not admit that the Messiah thus suffers for our iniquities, must endure and suffer for them himself." - Rabbi Eliyyah de Vidas, who wrote during the 16th century. - Copyright © George Konig, Ray Konig and 100Prophecies.org

Isaiah 53:1-3:

1 Who has believed our message and to whom has the arm of the LORD been revealed?

2 He grew up before him like a tender shoot, and like a root out of dry ground. He had no beauty or majesty to attract us to him, nothing in his appearance that we should desire him.

3 He was despised and rejected by men, a man of sorrows, and familiar with suffering. Like one from whom men hide their faces he was despised, and we esteemed him not.

Daniel predicted when an anointed one would be rejected
Bible prophecy: Daniel 9:24-26
Prophecy written: About 530 BC
Prophecy fulfilled: About 31 AD

The prophet Daniel was Jewish exile who lived during the time of the Babylonian Captivity, about 500 years before the birth of Jesus. During Daniel's lifetime, the Babylonians had destroyed Jerusalem and the Temple and had taken many Jews as captives to Babylon. Daniel, while in Babylon, delivered a prophecy of what would happen during the centuries that followed. Here is our summary of Daniel 9:24-26:

1. There would be a decree to rebuild Jerusalem.
2. Jerusalem and the Temple would be rebuilt.
3. Then an anointed one (Messiah) would be "cut off" (an idiom for "rejected" or "killed"wink.
4. Then Jerusalem and the Temple would be destroyed again.

All of these events later happened, in the same order in which they are described in Daniel 9:24-26:

1. After the Medo-Persians had conquered the neo-Babylonian empire about 2500 years ago, they ruled a vast empire that included the land of Israel. About 2400 years ago (about 445 BC), Persian king Artaxerxes gave permission to the Jews to rebuild Jerusalem, which was still in ruins after having been destroyed earlier by the Babylonians.
2. The Jews rebuilt the Temple and the city of Jerusalem.
3. Then, about 2000 years ago, Jesus entered Jerusalem as the Messiah who had been promised by Old Testament prophets. But, many people rejected Jesus as the Messiah and he was crucified by the Romans.
4. About 40 years after Jesus was crucified, the Romans destroyed Jerusalem and the Temple. (The Temple has not been rebuilt since then).

This is boooolshit because I cited to you fulfulled prophecies. Jst look at the FEW amount of so called unfulfilled prophecies you are citing. It is even full of lies. Babylon is inhabited? ? ? ? Abeg stop embarrasing yourself!

How were they fulfilled? grin grin. . . .Most of what you the so called prophecies were written after the events had happened. . .I gave you a few examples. . .You talked about the destruction of places like Edom, what the hell is that?. . . .You said Tyre will be attacked by many nations,. . .Eze 26:3-21 says that after being destroyed by Nebuchadnezzar, the king of Babylon, Tyre would never be rebuilt and would never be found again (Eze 26:14,21, 27:36, 28:19). But Tyre still exists today. It is a city on the coast of Lebanon, to be found on any map of that country. It has been mentioned in recent times in connection with retaliatory raids upon Hezbollah forces in Lebanon by Israel in their ongoing warfare. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tyre,_Lebanon

Most of your so called prophecies and just pure crap. . . By the way some predictions or prophecies written in the bible about certain places and certain people that can be traced they all appear to be false they mostly never happened.

^ The writer of the article on infidels.org actually shot himself in the foot.

If truly the events were written after the fact, why does he go to such much trouble explaining away each (almost) word? What is he afraid of?

Worse and amusingly, he claims Daniel was written after the fact. But Daniel speaks of events to the "end of time" - are we there yet? His best (worst) estimate is 167BC when Rome was empire - how about events following the fall of Rome - like how it was 10 tribes rising after Rome? Like how another "horn" different from the others rose amongst them and uprooted 3? How does a book written in 167BC explain the exact 10 kingdoms? How does it explain that the Catholic Church (religious and political AND THEREFORE different as Daniel says) destroyed and wiped out exactly 3 of the 10 European tribes as Daniel says?

Did anyone ever compute the timing of the French General Bertier's March into Rome for you? He avoids all such and just throws a blanket saying "he considers what is MORE likely" - those words come from that link.

Unreliable and partisan witness - please throw it out

Now let's look at some of the prophecies about Jesus from the old testament. . . .A lot of Jews will strongly disagree with you that Jesus  fulfilled a lot of OT prophecies. Personally a lot of these prophecies do not mean much to me because to me you can use stories in the bible to prove a point in the bible. . .These prophecies don't mean much to me but here are some objection from some Jews with regards to some of the OT prophecies that Jesus was said to have fulfilled. . .

Gray Beard:

John the Baptist

Some other Old Testament verses are supposed to be related to the alleged messianic prophecies. Mt 3:3, 11:10, and 17:10-13 (and parallel verses in other gospels) take Isa 40:3, Mal 3:1, and Mal 4:5, respectively, to be prophecies of John the Baptist. But there are problems with that:

(1) Isa 40:3 is followed by verses that tell of great events (the leveling of mountains and the glory of God to be witnessed by all mankind), and that certainly did not happen in the time of John the Baptist.

(2) In Mal 3:1, God is supposed to be speaking and saying that a messenger would be sent to "prepare the way" before him (God). But Mt 11:10 has stated the verse incorrectly, trying to make God say that the messenger would be sent before someone else. So the verse does not actually say what Matthew claims. One plausible interpretation of the original verse is that it is referring to Malachi himself, since the Hebrew name Malachi means "my messenger".

(3) Mal 4:5 says, "I will send you the prophet Elijah", and Mt 17:12-13 takes that to refer to John the Baptist. However, John the Baptist denied being Elijah (John 1:21). Also, the next verse (Mal 4:6) declares that, following the coming of Elijah, fathers and children will be reconciled or else God will "come and strike the land with a curse". But neither event took place following John the Baptist, so that part of the alleged prophecy was not fulfilled. Jesus himself set family members against one another (Mt 10:21,35-36, Lu 14:26), which runs counter to Mal 4:6.

For these various reasons, it does not appear that any of the given Old Testament verses made any sort of reference to John the Baptist. Again, there is no evidence here that any Biblical prophecies were fulfilled at about the time of Jesus of Nazareth.

Gray Beard:

The Donkey

It has been claimed that, according to Zechariah 9:9, the Messiah is to come riding into Jerusalem on the back of a donkey and that Jesus did indeed fulfill that prophecy (Mt 21:1-7, John 12:14-15). [See also Mk 11:2-7 and Lu 19:30-35.] That ride into Jerusalem is often entitled "the Triumphal Entry". There is a slight problem in that Matthew speaks of two donkeys, whereas each of the other three gospels mentions only one. [Matthew may have misunderstood Zec 9:9 to be referring to two donkeys, rather than just one. Also, it is unclear whether, when Matthew wrote "Jesus sat on them", he meant to imply that Jesus rode both animals simultaneously, circus-style.] But let us not dwell on the discrepancy regarding numbers. There are more serious difficulties with the alleged prophecy, as follows:

(1) Zechariah describes the person who rides the donkey as "the king of the Daughter of Zion and the Daughter of Jerusalem" ("the king of Zion and Jerusalem" in the Tanakh). But it is hard to see how such a title could properly be ascribed to Jesus, since the Jews for the most part rejected him and he never claimed to be their king.

(2) In the next verse (Zec 9:10), it says (in the Tanakh) that the one who rides the donkey will banish chariots from Ephraim, horses from Jerusalem, and the warrior's bow, and that "he shall call on the nations to surrender, and his rule shall extend from sea to sea and from ocean to land's end". It is hard to see how any of that could apply to Jesus of Nazareth. Some say that the great peace that Jesus will bring and the kingdom over which he will rule is a thing of the future, but that is irrelevant in the present context, which is the issue of prophecies already fulfilled. It seems clear that the gospel writers' attempt to depict Jesus as the king who rides into Jerusalem on a donkey is purely contrived and is a failure, at least so far as the fulfillment of Old Testament prophecy is concerned. Thus, it lends no support whatever to premise (1) of the Argument from the Bible.
