I heard that the FG will pay CONUA members the 7months salary together with October and November salaries.

Nice gesture by FG to encourage CONUA in their quest to rescue our universities from being destroyed by ASUU. please for you to support this development by the labour minister can I ask one or two questions from u....1 is are u a current student or past student who pass through Nigeria university or aboard, 2 did you know that the ASUU members around all University in Nigeria are bring made up of prof and associates prof and Dr...... I won't say any thing yet but just note it down u will be the one to first to talk when the pepper enter your eye....... think about it ur children we still go to the same university or any one u know......

There's a thin line between demands and Blackmail. ASUU seem to be very good in using students as blackmail but it seems FG is serious with them this time around.

First you go on strike without even considering the students who are not complaining of anything, then you claim FG wants to destroy the university system but you can't see any visible positive change to our universities with all the monies FG gave ASUU in the past, now you're dictating to your employer to accept your own mode of payment, then after all has lingered on for months close to a year you're still demanding all your salaries and arreas throughout those months sat at home should be paid or else you won't call off lol. ASUU wants to eat their own cakes and have it same time. It just cannot work that way, sacrifice has to be made. Lecturers will have to forfeit their salaries for the months they sat at home same as they forced students to sacrifice something as precious as TIME for a selfish cause.

I hope FG pays CONUA the 8 months salaries to make lecturers ditch the selfish ASUU so they can be rendered useless. The educational sector is bad yet, ASUU continues contributing to the rot by wasting student's time at home. Nonsense and ASUU
Are govt officials' children and politicians' studying in those univ? Yours is go back, go back, go back to what?

What is wrong with this government exactly?

Causing confusion daily, how do you negotiate with multiple groups on same issues

And to those who think ASUU is going into extinction, I laugh at your ignorance, if SSANU cannot whither down ASUU's influence I don't think these ones will work also

When VCs began to hammer their heads they will cry to the ASUU one time grin

go back to work or you resign. You cannot be allowed to use students as bargaining chip in your fight against FG.

Yes they did, you need to see the heavy investment in TETFunds and other fundings.

Lol. TetFund has nothing to do with the agreement.

ASUU didn’t go on strike for TetFund. They completed that struggle several years ago.

Your second paragraph is pure trash. How old are you? Did you school in a Nigerian University? How was your school hostel and laboratory, for example, infrastructure wise? And you just said the students aren't complaining of anything? Some strokes of cane is not out of place for you.
what have you done with the ones FG gave you in the past? I'll wait...

I may not agree with the guy you quoted, but after reading his comment and yours, it's obvious you're the one commenting like an under-the-bridge kind of person. If you were educated, you would have known that calling him a person with a low IQ because you didn't agree with his opinion is a very uncivilized way of making your point.

First you go on strike without even considering the students who are not complaining of anything (17 months strike within a 3 year span), then you claim FG wants to destroy the university system but you can't see any visible positive change to our universities with all the monies FG gave ASUU in the past, now you're dictating to your employer to accept your own mode of payment, then after all has lingered on for months close to a year you're still demanding all your salaries and arreas throughout those months sat at home should be paid or else you won't call off lol. I seem to agree at this point. It is very frustrating delaying the future of the younger ones. Lecturers have the qualifications and jobs. Professors and senior lecturers in their university days did not sit at home for months on end.

They started the strike. They chose to sit at home for months. They have cost students plenty of losses in time, health and lives. Still they ask government to pay for the same time wasted by them. The honorable thing to do is to either forfeit the salaries for the period or take what government is able to offer.

Since the FG has decided to ride roughshod over fundamental issues bordering on tertiary education in the country instead of addressing them squarely, the battle is now about to enter the next stage which is total anarchy.

Those cheering on the FG and the newly registered opposition political party under the guise of a Union called CUNT, sorry, CONUA are inadvertently declaring support for the collapse of tertiary education in the country.

As it were, the FG has succeeded in breaking the ranks of the ASUU but definitely not their spirit.

The die is cast!

Nd d government is so after not wasting student time?
D government priorities d best education fr student abi?
CONUA like evry oda union will still end up resulting to strike action.
CONUA who ar to b paid d 8month salaries were nt formally in d strike..clearly cake eating.
To remove one thorn, FG end up creating 2 additional thorn.

Nd if u think FG moves ar fr d plight of student, u r mistaken, it fr dere own gain.

Like u want ur children to come nd still do quantitative nd qualitative analysis(titration), some as did our forefathers.

A government wo loves education doesn't wait fr it decline nd act passive to address it.

Accountant general stole 82billion naira almost more than twice wat ASUU is asking for, so u nd ur children children can have a better education.

D government is wasting ur time not ASUU. Finish school nw FG so show u d care dey have installed fr u.

I hope you know that government's expenditures are budgeted for?

FG promised to release the financial aspect of ASUU'S demands in next year's budget, but ASUU did not agree.

On salary review, FG also accepted to make some upward adjustments in their salaries, to be reflected in next year's budget but ASUU would have none of that.

UTAS was said to have failed integrity tests so cannot be deployed as payment platform for the lecturers for now, yet ASUU is insisting that it must be deployed. Office of the accountant general of the federation has also asked to capture any peculiar allowances of lecturers on IPPIS but ASUU wouldn't take that.

Question is: how many members of the new unions are in each university; are there enough to teach the numerous courses in the universities?

We all know what is fair and just.

This is not the first time ASUU and the federal government have disagreed.

The federal government should do what is right. An aggrieved individual can never make a good teacher or lecturer.

Good proactive measure, students must go to school, we can't allow a group of men to hold the nation to ransom. Where are all the money generated from universities going to?

#EFCC must do a forensic review of allocations, payments by federal government to enhance universities over the years, public revenue has been spent on universities, yet everytime ASUU asks for trillions. Universities should be able to fund themselves, via donors, fees, and yet government still give them multiple billions. ASUU and it's other affiliate arms are frauds.

Oga ASUU have been very unreasonable

They brought this upon themselves and it's not like ASUU has even be fair to junior lecturers in the union.

they only care about themselves and not the educational system they claim to be fighting for.

A union that have not been able to cob the sex for grade and bribery that's plaguing the so called system they say they are fighting for, means no good to students but themselves
