World Cup 2022: Argentina under FIFA investigation after penalty win over Netherlands

FIFA have confirmed Argentina are being investigated after the scenes during their 2022 World Cup quarter-final win over the Netherlands. The South Americans needed penalties to book their semi-finals spot.

Lionel Messi had set up Nahuel Molina to open the scoring before converting from the spot, as the Albiceleste looked to go through comfortably. But Wout Weghorst came off the bench in the second half to force extra-time with a late double.

It was a feisty encounter, with referee Antonio Mateu Lahoz issuing over a dozen yellow cards. Lahoz also showed a red card to Dutch defender Denzel Dumfries after the match ended. FIFA are now looking into the events of the game.

“The FIFA Disciplinary Committee has opened proceedings against the Argentinian Football Association due to potential breaches of articles 12 (Misconduct of players and officials) and 16 (Order and security at matches) of the FIFA Disciplinary Code during the Netherlands v. Argentina FIFA World Cup™ match that took place on 9 December,” FIFA’s statement read.

Argentina head coach Scaloni was shown a yellow card too, along with a number of members of his squad. Weghorst, meanwhile, was booked long before entering the fray after an incident on the touchline.

The Argentinian Albiceleste won the match but their reactions was simply unsportmanly. How can Leoniel Messi be calling a fellow player a "fool"? FIFA indeed should thoroughly investigate this show of shame and issue appropriate sanctions.

Go and learn lad, when any team collect more than 5 yellow cards in a match they will be under scrutiny. Nothing to be worried about. This year belong to the original goat.

But honestly I find it very disgusting the way players are now complaining about referee's. England team too are complaining about the referee, Argentina and Netherland the same thing, the worst of them all na Portugal with all there possession and clear cut chances to win the game are also complaining about referee grin grin grin

FIFA suppose punish all those teams that are incompetent and trying to put the blame on ref

This is why people believe that, FIFA is doing everything to keep Messi relevant in the sport world... Because, they're making tons of money with the awareness they're creating with Messi and CR7...

Messi having the power to insult and verbally abuse someone without a sanction from FIFA is something else....

If FIFA decided to sanction all the insults players throw at each other, how many players will be on the field of play?

Cry more lad. Your GOAT is already at the airport grin grin grin

In Portugal's case, they are not only blaming the referee but also Messi for their loss. It's ridiculous how Pendu has made Messi to live rent-free in all his teammates' head. What's Messi's own with Portugal for Pepe and Bruno to be spewing rubbish?

If you claiming anyone can just abuse another person without repercussions then why do people always says there is no freedom after speech?

The rules of football cease to exist, when it comes to Lionel Messi and Argentina. I think they should stop the match and give the cup to Argentina since they want Messi to win all at cost. Nonsense

Am not Interested in this world cup.

Damnnn niggar
Look at all Penaldo fans wailing

They haven't seen nothing yet
Thier sleepless night and nightmare will continue

Probably till the end of time

The Netherlands vs Argentina FIFA World Cup 2022 quarterfinal clash at the Lusail Stadium saw a total of 19 yellow cards, breaking the record of the Portugal vs Netherlands round of 16 match in the 2006 World Cup!

Which means Netherlands is at fault....lot of yellow cards with Portugal and now with Argentina

So at the end of the day, we can say that Ronaldo never won the world cup cheesy

Anyways, Everything is working well for a Morocco world cup win.

Nigerians, vote Peter Obi. Many of the urchins campaigning for Tinubu are just doing the work they are paid to do. When they face the ballot, they will vote conscience (Obi) rather than money (Tinubu).
