Maybe ThiefNuibu didn’t want to recognise Jakande and be compared with him to magnify his own governance failures, that is why he failed to revive Jakande’s metro construction that started from Jibowu before Buhari cancelled it 38 years ago

Splashme:
The first civilian governor of Lagos State, Alhaji Lateef Jakande, on Tuesday, said that the cancellation of the Lagos metroline project in 1985 was a major mistake and disservice to many Nigerians.

Jakande spoke in Lagos during the launch of a book which chronicled his life in politics and journalism.

The book, entitled, ‘Jakande: Leadership in Action’ is written by Dr. Bola Olaosebikan, who told the audience at the event that the All Progressives Congress presidential candidate, Maj. Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), was not responsible for the cancellation of the project.

Jakande said, “Reflecting on the metroline project, I think it is a major disservice to many Nigerians. Imagine how many people would have benefitted. It would have made life easier and changed the face of transport in Lagos. Whoever cancelled it or gave the advice towards its cancellation didn’t do right.”

The former governor asked Nigerians not to vote for unserious leaders in the coming polls, saying the elections presented Nigerians with a good opportunity that should not be squandered.

Expressing the hope that Nigeria would soon overcome its developmental challenges, Jakande said hope would be actualised faster if credible people emerged as leaders in the next dispensation.

He said, “This book comes at a very auspicious time in Nigeria’s history as we need leaders who can act. We need leaders who would not compromise the standards of good governance. God has blessed this nation the most in Africa, although we have not reached where we should be; with the right leaders, Nigeria would overcome its challenges.”

Are you by chance from Anambra and the rest of Nigeria?
How long did it take to build the 12 kms of 3rd Mainland bridge? Is that in Anambra and the rest of Nigeria where you are from?

How long did it take to build the Abuja-Kaduna railway?

So much negative energy this early morning, the energy you are wasting is enough to generate light in your district.

Many thanks for your advice. I have a life already. Thankfully it’s not a low life of praising governance failures for physical infrastructure announcements when it is not yet moving passengers.
I hope you understand that.

Congrats Lagos. Nigeria is so far behind that this such a great accomplishment. It's like a person in coma raising a finger, we'll all shout and cry for joy like we won World Cup.
So much work still to be done. The remaining 6 or so phases, the Red line rail, issue of security, people stealing equipment, damage and vandalism, effective ticketing, how to stop people shunting and manipulating tickets, how to effectively determine who is elderly and below 6years old, women rights, overcrowding etc. Nigeria is such a facepalm really.

Will any of your lamentations be necessary if governors and LGA chairmen in Anambra and the rest of Nigeria, employed adequate professional teachers for free education of all children instead of making our country have the highest number of children out of school

Hatred of BAT will only lead you to insanity. whenever it suits you people you will remember it was Jakande that initiated it....whenever it suits you people its Ambode Fashola and SanwoOlu just so you wont give honour and praise to the preson that laid the foundation thats BAT. No amount of hate you have for him will stop whatever God has in plans for him....if God will he will be the next president whether you acknowledged his works or not

You mean Anambra local government

Remember how your people struggle happily to relocate to lagos from Anambra Can you kindly, without your normal everyday insult, explain why Can't you stay in the Dubai-Anambra obi created

I doubt you even remember obi's deputy (without Google's assistant) when he was governor, because he always work alone...no team.

I believe, I don't have to tell you how q team player Jagaban is grin grin

Complexity of AC to DC?

Mental people everywhere in power. The rectification circuit is in so many household appliances I wonder when one for railway system became so complex. Just say you needed excuses for delaying projects towards election and inflating their costs along with profit margin.

Nice one, action governor sanwo olu. But be careful what you claim as only one man that was governor of Lagos many years ago has the franchise to claim development of Lagos. "No sabi pass teacher".

Semi-illiterate, even the announcer said the project was conceptualised by governor Sanwo-Olu.

Why bring your drug trafficking lord, Tinubu, into this?

U be mumu, can rail project finish within 3 and half year? Project started by Tinubu, fashola continue it, abandoned by ambode while sanwo olu finish it. No Nigeria government can achieve that in 4yrs.

No wonder they always get jealous and hateful of lagos and yorubas in general. Where is river mono rail since 2009? At least they have oil and port, but still nothing to show for it.
