PRESS RELEASE
IGP RECOMMENDS SUSPENSION OF ASP DRAMBI VANDI

• Assures of Enabling Environment for Justice

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Usman Alkali Baba, psc (+), NPM, NEAPS, fdc, CFR, has recommended the immediate suspension of Assistant Superintendent of Police Drambi Vandi, the officer attached to the Ajah Divisional Headquarters of the Lagos State Police Command, responsible for the shooting and killing of Barrister Omobolanle Raheem while waiting for the detailed report on the incident. The IGP noted that the recommendation for the suspension of the officer is in line with the internal disciplinary processes of the Force.

The IGP further noted that the suspension is also expected to create an enabling environment for necessary legal procedures to uphold justice in the case without interference. The suspension is without prejudice to the constitutional presumption of innocence in favour of the officer.

Meanwhile, the IGP has reaffirmed the commitment of the Force to the Rule of Law and assured the public of his administration’s commitment to ensuring that justice is not just done but seen to have been manifestly done in the matter. He therefore appeals to the public to be calm as all hands are on deck to ensure justice prevails while measures have been put in place to prevent future occurrences.

I don't think there's any country on earth where the police murder her citizens like Nigeria. A friend ones said it's better you have argument with a mad man holding a gun ,than having a conversation (not argument )Nigeria police.

Any security officer that were convicted of killing innocent nigerians should face the death penalty, without any other option, so as to control these their madness of killing innocent citizens, they are paid to protect.

Suspension well that's the first thing pending investigation. But if this were a civilian I'm sure he will be thrown into the prison while investigatios continue.
They need to make any example of one person so others can learn. Life imprisonment or a death sentence. Anything short of this is injustice.

Like how long are we going to keep seeing this.

Why can't they just shoot him immediately on his left Arm, wait for him to groan for five minutes, shoot him again but this time on his Right reg close to his knee, wait for him to groan for another 10 minutes, then shoot him on his Right hand, wait for him to groan and scream for 20minutes, then shoot him on his Left leg close to his waist.
Allow him remember the atrocities he has committed and the torture and pain family of Barrister is going through, after 30 minutes, put the bullet straight to his forehead.

IGP please remember, he who kill by sword, will die by sword.
It's taking like forever to get justice.

This new IGP reacts speedily to incidents which is good.

Any officer that carries fire arm should be mentally evaluated from time to time.

Why was his gun not on safety during a routine stop and search?

Either he was drunk or high on something or he has got some mental or psychological problem.

The IGP needs to investigate why that office fired his weapon and find a measure to prevent such from happening again.

Suspension or swift dismissal?seems IG is playing dismiss this guy now and let him go and face his triple homicide and murder trial in court.Anything less than the death penalty would be bullshit on the Court’s part and his trial must not take ages.Bomboclaat!

Hmmm just suspension?
I am sure the IGP would have fired him without pay if the victim was his family(it is unclear cases of allegation without sufficient witness or evidence that gives such leniency not one with so much witnesses and evidence such as over 4 people who witnessed it and the bullet recovered from the body matched against the other bullet in his gun and for him to acount for it and also the video recording when he was apprehended on the crime scene and he was threatening to shoot ) and ensure he gets bail till the judgement and if the judge delays too much or gives wrong judgement then he will have him also locked up without bail.
