EstateVerify: I simply acted as a proper business man would. No crime in that. But since he brought me this contact, I'm indebted to him, so he must be the supplier, both for this and for future contracts from this same company. Beyond that, I'm not obligated to patronize him when it's a job from my own contacts. This is fair, I guess. 4 Likes |

frozen70: This would've drawn us even on profits from the materials.. but I guess that's me wanting to gain from both sides. Though that isn't wrong after all it's my contract. But the fact is that he handed me the job, so it's only fair I leave the profits for the materials for him. Besides he knows the exact materials I need. And if I tell him I need significantly less than that he will suspect. |

Ishilove: Na only you don yarn reasonable thing... One thing I've learnt in business, there is no blood or friends... I learnt this the hard way... The OP bro is getting greedy and it's because he knew his brother got the contract through him OP if your bro quotation is too much than others, patronise others... Do a wonderful job.. all this bullshit of "don't use today to spoil tomorrow" no dey work for business... If you do a good job, you'll be recommended for a better one by the company He'll sell the materials high, still collect his share of the contract and yet that is not seen as greed?? If the OP brother had given the job to an outsider, he can't be acting like this 4 Likes 1 Share |

The OP brother is the greedy one and the OP is just used as the scape goat.. if the OP brother had given the job to an outsider, the outsider won't think twice before sidelining him... All this crazy mentality of "think of tomorrow" is the reason why most businesses crumble.. the OP brother trying to rip his own blood is not greedy but the "messiah".. like the OP has been surviving solely on his elder brother All I see here is "entitlement mentality"... Table might turn.. please OP, don't hesitate to pay your brother back with his own coin if the table turns to you... One of the reasons I don't do business with family or friends... I'd rather you give it to an outsider or I give my deal to an outsider 1 Like |

kenedyx: I have read and seen that you just want people who will encourage you into not buying from your brother. First question, is he instrumental to you getting the contract? Secondly, did he have the power or infleunce to prevent you from getting it? Thirdly, he could have told you to split 50/50 when you get it and you would gladly obliged, but he choose to let you have it ONLY buy the materials from him and you complaining? I see pride and greed kicking in..na you go suffer. 1 Like |

Get 30% materials from your brother and 70% from the cheapest supplier. There is no 100% family in business. If you want to move forward bro. |

Nigerians with entitlement mentality, if you are not okay with your brother's price , inform him and go elsewhere , if he wants his own cut , let him say it outrightly, than trying to rip you off . Family members are fond of exploitation. 1 Like |

kenedyx:Welcome to the world of contractors. I have a man that sources contracts for me. He's very influential so he is very important to me and my company. There's a lot I don't like about him but for someone that has made me millions of naira, whatever he wants, I give him. Eat and let everyone else eat is the order of the business or nobody will give you contracts anymore. If you're not happy with your brother's quotations, find a way to increase your profit from your delivery. At the end of the day, if you cut him off, you don't know the connect he will have in future. Maybe a million dollars contract and by then you'll still cry to us that your brother had a chance to recommend you for a big contract but he didn't call you. 2 Likes |

kenedyx: Let your brother know you have a much lower price somewhere and instead offer him a commission for bringing the deal. Next time lock in your contracts, you cant just tell your bro to supply, you should have discussed the price and specifics about what he will gain. |
Re: Am I Wrong To Do This To My Brother? by StealthGuy(m): 2:33pm On Jan 17, 2023 |
kenedyx:Buy from him. Forget the rip off, he may not have told you how he contributed in securing that deal for you, just play along as payback. No too use sense follow your brother, sometimes, let people be the greedy one and not yourself. This is business, you need steady flows of contracts to keep flourishing. 1 Like |

@OP indulge him this one time... But tell him without mincing words that you could of gotten the materials cheaper elsewhere so he would know you are in on his schemes. |

Don’t be ingrate and he makes you get the job so he can have something to hold too, if your greed makes you to give another one what your brother can do then you break the bond and may cost you in the future |

Truth be told, you have to buy from him and moreover I'll boldly tell you that you got the contract cos you got him, The contract might be given to you cos they got to know your brother works with them. Perhaps that's your blood! 1 Like |

kenedyx: Is he your sibling or just a bro... If he's just a bro, compensate him with a token and move on with the procurement that will help you to deliver effectively and help u to save as much as possible. But if he is your sib, call your mum or awon Ara Ile, tell them to advise him...if he's still adamant, treat him like a bro, that means he's not reasonable niyen.... Except you are the bad person here, it's possible you are dealing directly with the vendors that he will also buy from, which will means he's not going to see shi shi and you don't care...if that is the case, you are the wicked one here and you need to change your ways, if not, you are going to have shortage on that business las las, if not run on debt sef |

Oga buy from him. Imagine your brother giving the contract to someone else and still supplying to the person and still getting paid some amount as appreciation from the person. How will you feel when you find out later? You will start shouting he doesn’t want to help you grow. Repay his kindness. He has so many buyers/contractors that he can smoothly refer for the job but he chose you. Now, you’re now putting all eyes on the money. He can even actually take the contract and supply the materials needed and just pay you workmanship to do the job for him, but he open up everything to you and made you the foreman of the contract, it’s your turn to be good cox many are still on the way. Besides, what bothers you to bring it on this forum shows your heart is already bothered against the idea of buying from someone else. Imagine the pain you would pass when you’ve done it. Besides, if anything go wrong along the contract, your brother is the person to cover you. If you go out from him now and something bad came up while handling the job, you are on your own. Don't win a battle and lose the war. Leverage your knowledge of the suppliers' options for other contracts. Seasoned professionals would tell you how they had to sacrifice their own money just to deliver good service even at a loss just to build a solid base that favours them in the long run. As long as you are sure of doing a great job, get this done but have a brotherly talk with your brother. See this as a test. 1 Like |
