No need of speaking long grammar. I have another formular albeit more straight forward.

(A) To gain admission to UNIZIK, a candidate must score at least C in 6 subjects including Mathematics and English. Even if you scored As in 9 subjects but had Fs in English and Maths, you have failed automatically.

The Admissions board by this demand confers special status on Mathematics and English even though they are still "subjects.

By implication, same situation applies to the 25% requirement in my opinion.

The Constitution by that section granted Special Status to Abuja as the Federal Capital Territory.

As long as Tinubu did not score 25% in Abuja, he is an illegal President Elect. Reason most world leaders are not congratulating him.

Your analogy is outright wrong. Mathematics and English are compulsory in this case because of the use of the word "Including" not "And"

Obinoscopy:
1. A recruiting firm advertised for a job and people from 36 States and a Territory applied. The recruiting firm was tasked to recruit at least 25% of people from at least two thirds of the States and the Territory. If there are 100 people in each of the States and 120 people from the Territory, what's the minimum number of people the firm should at least employ?

A. 600
B. 620
C. 625
D. 630
E. None of the Above

2. In addition to the requirements above, the recruiting firm was told the Territory is also to be considered as a State. Thus the requirement reads thus: recruit at least 25% of people from at least two thirds of the States and the Territory. And the Territory is to be considered a State. What's the minimum number of people the firm should at least employ?

A. 600
B. 620
C. 625
D. 630
E. None of the Above

Please show your workings. Anyone who shows very clear workings and gets the answer has solved the 25% electoral requirement quagmire that is confusing many people.

Re: 25% Requirement: Solve This Mathematics Word Problem by JohnVianney: 9:04pm On Apr 19, 2023
1) There are 36 states and 1 territory, so there were a total of 36 + 1 = 37 areas where people applied from.

If there are 100 people in each state, then there were a total of 100 x 36 = 3,600 people who applied from the states.

Adding the 120 people from the territory, there were a total of 3,720 people who applied.

To recruit at least 25% of people from 2/3 of the states and the territory, the firm needs to choose from at least (2/3 x 37) = 24 areas.

25% of 100 people in a state is equivalent to 0.25 x 100 = 25 people.

25% of 120 people from the territory is equivalent to 0.25 x 120 = 30 people.

Therefore, the firm needs to recruit at least 25 x 24 states + 30 from the territory = 630 people.

So the minimum number of people the firm should at least employ is 630.

The answer is very simple:

Let the States be S and the Territory be t.

Thus the requirement is: A quarter of two thirds of S AND a quarter of t

You have 36 States (from at least 24 of which appliers are chosen) as well as 1 territory where to recruit its quarter from. Here, the firm recruits 25 appliers from each of the 24 States, AND 30 appliers from the territory, which is a total of 630
appliers.

The formula here is [(23×36)×(14×100)]+(14×120)=[(24×25)]+30

=630 appliers. QED

The second question doesn't change my answer. This is because even if the Territory is considered a State. The AND in the requirement has it compulsory that 25% must be recruited from that "State".

Abuja to be Special status. So you are saying the votes cast in Abuja is special than the one cast in your village or people in Abuja ar special than people in your village. Do you know the constitution says that every vote cast in the country are equal ? Pls stop your nonsense by making Abuja to be special

Wrong.
The constitution which is superior to the electoral act says I should treat the FCT as if it were a state. Secondly those who drafted the constitution many of them are still alive. It’s not like the constitution is some magical book that fell from heaven.
Unless you amend the constitution to make it clearer your submission is null.
Lastly, those who reside in the FCT are not some form of gods with two heads and four hands and pays different tax than those who live in Lagos, Kano or Enugu.
Abuja as a FCT was not shared equally to all states of the federation for it to be regarded electorally as special.

Refer to the process that brought Hope uzodimma into power and yes in a 100m race an athlete that came 3rd can be declared winner if the athletes that came first and second are found wanting either for breaking doping rules or general track rules.

P.S I am not interested in Nigerian politics

flokii:
Stop wasting your time.. No court will declare someone in distant third position winner when the person that took first and got required constitutional spread is there... What is so special about the FCT if I may ask? Are the residents in the FCT more Nigerian than those in Kwara, Osun and likes? Answer is capital NO.

In a 100m race for example.. have you ever seen the athlete that took third declared winner over the ones in first and second position? Never!
Such illegality will never happen in Nigeria. Asiwaju Tinubu is president-elect whether you like it or not.

25% of states population => 25 people
25% of FCT population => 30 people

1.) 2/3 × 36 states + FCT => 24 x 25 + 30 = 630
Ans is D

2.) 2/3 × [36 states + FCT (state)] => 2/3 × (36 x 25 + 30) = 620
Ans is B
