According to Nigerian writer Oyinkansola Alabi, Nigerian men who relocate to Western countries and get divorced are often at fault due to their unkind and patriarchal behavior.

Alabi took to Twitter to express her views, stating that women leaving their husbands abroad is a consequence of the men’s actions. She argued that no reasonable woman would abandon a partner who treated her fairly and justly while they were still in Nigeria.

Alabi acknowledged that there are cases of women leaving their men for personal gain, but insisted that men have also been known to leave their wives for similar reasons.
