Temporary subsidy on petroleum is not the way to go. Government should try and sanitize the purchase and supply chain associated with the diesel and PMS business. The inherent corruption should be addressed
the war front is not in the Oil sector, it's in the Fx market if we intervene in that the oil sector will comply

Bro, it is easier typing and speaking Grammer.

Look, if Tinubu does not reverse the subsidy in a way and naira floating polices now. . Nigerian's currency and economy will collapse completely within max the next 2 months. That is the reality.

He should have created modalities first. .

The good thing about eating one's words is that it doesn't make one fat.

However, this new development even if it is being considered is a red flag that President Tinubu is not as prepared for governance as he campaigned. Unfortunately, not appearing for media interactions or debate didn't help. That President Tinubu knew he would implement the removal of subsidy and floating of Naira soon after inauguration but had no plans to manage the consequences of the these major policy shift paints a scary picture about his future policies.

My suggestion is that Tinubu could go on and appoint Wale Edun the Finance minister as well as appoint his President Economic Team. However, he should he headhunt for some young hothead economists and financial experts and place them under his office to serve as his thinktank in brainstorming on policies, creating scenarios, doing risk-benefit analyses, SWOT Analysis, etc to give the big picture advantage. We need practical ideas from thinking out of box to solve our problems here rather than some textbooks stuff.

How on earth is value of Naira is falling and the CBN is speaking grammar. How about rolling about plans to encourage the local production and export to cure our trade deficits.
You are an absolute slowpoke with a dead brain.

Best way to remove subsidy is in phases. Remove certain percentage quarterly and use the money gained for all to see. Removing all at once is like drowning a child because you want him to own a swimming pool. He may not live to swim in it
This is the only reasonable approach. While doing this, deal with the corrupt people assumed to be benefitting the subsidy, ensure local refining as well. Fuel price should have moved from 185 to say 220 per liter first.

He was a better governor than Obi. Some others brought into this mess, not Tinubu. Mind you, some people have only stolen the subsidy money!

Experience as a governor is not enough to run a country like Nigeria.

You be capital Olodo. This news is not confirmed yet. However, let's even assume it is confirmed.

Where in the world is it wrong for you to make a policy which is targeted at helping the economy and then reverse or modify the policy when the outcome of the policy has certain serious effects.

This is the kind of man we want to lead us as a Nation. A Leader that wants the best for the Nation
A Leader that can make bold positive moves
A Leader that can quickly assess the impact of his policies and seek ways to make things better
A Leader that listens

I have said over and over that the problem we have in Nigeria is not anyone's mate. And Tinubu is the man that can at least build the foundation for a better Nigeria. I have always maintained the stand that some policies might be reversed and some modified depending on outcomes.

Not one Liar, Pretender and Olodo that came on live TV to say that there is nothing bad in not building infrastructure for 8 years as Governor. That Guy and the people that follow him sheepishly annoy me to the bones. How can a people be so gullible.

It’s only a confused leader that keeps going back and forth with policies. Back and forth policies hurt the economy so bad that at some point, your economy will go into coma.

You said he will build a foundation for Nigeria, by going back and forth on his decisions and policies?
Imagine you want to build a house and your contractor keeps building and demolishing to start all over
He will still take away the unified principles exchange rate,
But again, how can you trust a man whose “yes might change to be no” tomorrow?
The really is, He is not ready, and has no plan to move the country forward. He will only destroy Nigeria…

Any idea conceived and implemented with proper evaluation and monitoring will never produce high level of defaults. However, it will if it was deliberately implemented to do favours to some classes of people.

You get brain..tell them. They want to grow and encourage local industries to thrive, also encourage export of locally made goods but they've forgotten or pretended to know that the so called local industries also buy some materials from overseas in hard currency. What of the inflation which has badly affected the raw materials cost locally?

This man is a capital failure. Someone said something today on radio that really answered my long heart felt question about this government.
Someone ask why are Nigerians not protesting when people are already dieing of hunger, or Nigerians choose to die. One of the men on the programme said, how will they protest, " those that use to protest are the ones in government now", that really answered my long question...thank God Yoruba people are already secretly begging online. PDP is a million times better than APC. This party called APC is evil in all ramifications

We don't have to. Our leaders should stop running away from the problems we elected them to tackle. They like giving excuses and blaming others for failing in their responsibilities. Subsidy removal with the excuse of petrol smuggling outside the Nigeria was like cutting off the head in order to stop the headache.

Reason for the high inflation is part covid, part Russia war, part speculation in the forex market. ....if we intervene in the FX market it could bring things down but a return to subsidy is a no.....no

Just yesterday,Kenya President, William Ruto who also suspended subsidy the very first day he assumed office returned the subsidy for two months.
What these people don't understand is that subsidy isn't bad as people portray it, almost all advance countries subsidize so many things for their citizens but the problems in our own is the corruption in the subsidy programs. That's where the President needs to look at and not total suspension of subsidy.
Oga is like you did not realize our creditors were already closing in on our assets meanwhile we were spending 1Trillion naira every two months to give other African Nations cheap fuel while using 92% of our revenue to service debts....for a good part of the year many states had to borrow to pay staff.....there's no level of subsidy that doesn't lead us back to that path......this whole thing has to be a bad joke

Let me ask you, if you were the president would you remove subsidy at a go?

Stop blabbing, please specify the amount that was allocated for maintaining refineries, as far as I'm concerned Nigeria has no working oil refineries so what exactly would we be maintaining? Anyways go back and read my comment, I said BUILD refineries not maintain, fa ra buruku bale!

The solution is functioning refineries be it regular or modular refineries[/quote

It takes time to fix a functional refinery..
Modular refinery cant come up in six months..
Meanwhile, we spend 90 percent of revenue on debt servicing..
Thats the problem
