Section 327 of the Criminal Code Act in Nigeria. Attempting to commit suicide

Any person who attempts to kill himself is guilty of a misdemeanor and is liable to imprisonment for one year.

I heard it somewhere that London Common Law states that attempted suicide is a crime but a successful suicide isn't. Could that be the applicable law in Lagos since we most of the time copied London laws hook, line and sinker. 🙄
