Sad how everything has degenerated to race rivalries in Nigeria. This country is not going to be great anytime soon. Just deteriorating every day. No facts, no truths, nothing intellectual or mentally stimulating anymore.

Things fall apart 1983 .haha the gap is much to justify..

But things fall apart is more recognized than all Herbert ogunde's film

Well... Later things should always be greater than former things na. Besides, we are talking about movies in local dialect, knowing fully well that movies in English Language will attract more audience than in local dialect.

The Igbos gave Nollywood life and since Yoruba actors and actresses couldn't break through the English version of Nollywood probably because there english sucks, Dem kuku create Nollywood Yoruba to console themselves.

You claimed Yoruba actors couldn't breakthrough the English version of Nollywood yet you couldn't write simple English language. THERE & THEIR are not the same thing. "THERE English sucks! "

Some people actually think that Nollywood started with 'Living In Bondage ' and 'Domitila'. Smh.

Aisha is even schooling them for free when they should be paying to recieve this kind of knowledge.

Everything about entertainment in Africa, from the first TV station to the first stadium etc, has its root in Ibadan, the heart of Yorubaland through the vision of our forebears. Thank you Aisha for the free education you are giving them.

Entertainment business is total package and it's bringing in billions into Nigeria through the Nigerian music, sports and film industry pioneered by the Yoruba and still owned by the Yoruba.

The chart bursting Nollywood films are produced in Yoruba but subtitled in English, Asake sings in Yoruba, all the Nigerian music Stars that performed at his UK show, including Tunde Baiyewu of Light House, are Nigerians and Yoruba with link to Nollywood. Most of those sound tracks in Yoruba films come from these Yoruba global Musicians.

Even Gospel musicians like Tope Alabi are connected to Nollywood while World Boxing Champion Anthony Joshua, World Athletics record-holder Tobi Amusan, along with Odunlade Adekola, Olamide, Teni and others are Glo Ambassadors, Iya Rainbow, Lateef Adedimeji, Dele Odule from Nollywood as Airtel Ambassadors, with their faces all over local and international Nigerian entertainment contents sponsorship.

Yoruba started Nollywood when the rest of Nigeria and Africa had not even seen or watched a TV in their lives and the Yoruba still own Nollywood till date.

The Yoruba can teach others in Nigeria and Africa how they sustain this global feat and dominance of entertainment if others are humble enough to learn from the Yoruba. We are all Nigerians/Africans and we can learn from one another.

Pls mention Yoruba movies older than living in bondage, mike ori ife dimmma, Thomson oranu movies, ikuku, domitila, etc. Pls this should be for enlightenment not for another ethnic bigotry war

We are proud of our Yoruba movies as it promotes our culture and heritage that's why you see many of them doing great on Netflix and attracting international attention. I can't remember any ibo movie on Netflix that gain attention as Yoruba language in Africa.

We need to identify the numbers of Cinemas in each region. I know of Pen Cinema, (Queen Cinema and Baba Sala Cinema in Ibadan).
Putinofrussia:

I bet you are intelligent or you can at least pretend to be.
Hollywood, Bollywood and others all over the world all started from cinemas then into videos and so on.

There is a reason the world wouldn't forget the inventors of most tools we use today like cars, phones etc.

In simple words,Yorubas invented cheesy Nollywood before you know what acting is all about..

Yoruba movie industry has really catch up and performing very well now but that doesn't mean they own Nollywood. For thr past 30 years of my life where I've been the AGR bracket of awareness, I've always heard, seen and known the Igbos as the face of nollywood and everybody in Africa, Europe, and America everywhere I've been to and I have friends in that knows nollywood always Link it with the Igbo. Igbo people neglected Igbo version of nollywood and projected the English version which is the version that sold all over the world and every human in this world always mention Igbo and Igbo culture - white people call me Igwe when we joke, they heard that from nollywood.

How come because the Yoruba rebranded in 2022 they suddenly became the owners of nollywood? This is betrayal of the highest order. Don't try to change history because you're now on an advantaged position with big platform. Igbo nollywood died when they started mass creation of low budget movies and the Yoruba used this opportunity to take advantage of an already built brand - it's not bad as we're all Nigerians. But give glory to whom it's due.

Even in music, Yorubas only started dominating since about 5 years ago.

Yorubas and shallow brain and inability to apply native intelligence. Na those igbo village films be the real Nollywood known outside Nigeria not those rubbish Lagos films that has no African content. This is similar to UI and UNN in those days. It was UNN who first awarded a local degree with local curriculum and course outline while yorubas where hyping their London course content from Ibadan. Oga una no get local ingenuity

Nobody knows UNN outside of Nigeria

The most known schools are UI, Unilag and OAU. Covenant is becoming known too and all schools are in southwest

Yorubas own entertainment. Even the tv soap operas were started by Yorubas and still dominated by Yorubas

Yorubas actually pioneered nollywood but lost track at some points.
