That's why they always said "Jesus said to them" not "Jesus said to us". If someone witnessed it, they won't use third person pronoun, rather they'll use words like "me" "we", "us". They won't have said "Jesus and his disciples" because the author is supposed to have been with Jesus and would have witnessed the event.
