Who approved the building plan?
How much was paid to LASG for the approval?
Why is Tinubu's Bourdillon house, which clearly contravened the original Ikoyi masterplan not yet marked for demolition?

That stupid boy that is a commisioner. Destroying all those properties is NOT the only option to fixing part ways for water drainage. Since the infaction has been grossly made and the destruction you are about to carry on will out way any positives how about you simply deepen the current drains and make new drainage and bill the current owners of buildings that have been built on the old drainage path. You have made enough point by the ones you have already destroyed, destroying thousands of house more is completely stupid.

The heart of your typical nigerian is very dark and wicked, rather that think of other ways to solve his only thoughts is destruction.

That's why I don't do Island jobs... Most of these officials will be deceiving people along with lawyers at land registry.

Purchase in mainland, especially in places like Gbagada, Ogudu, Ojota etc, that has no boundaries with Canals that much..

I'm afraid when Govt will enter Ikoyi, many big men houses will go down too....😩

FreeStuffsNG:
You have rested your Lagos moniker wink

There are houses over 100 years old still standing in Lagos with no qualms. If you don't do the right thing, no matter how long it takes, you will face the consequences.

It's been days, weeks and months since they served them contravention notice, if you know what contravention notice means and how it works legally, you will not even ignorantly imply that those buildings have building approval documentation.
a lot of them are just ignorant but unfortunately for them no ignorance in law.

Funniest thing is that most of the victims are Yoruba.

Igbo people making this about Ibo always make me laugh.

This will serve as a deterrent for future reoccurrence. Get all the damn approvals before erecting the structure to avoid stories that touch.

Building without approval and documentation is the same as land theft....apart from the safety issues it presents to the public.

In Tinubu's voice....Let the #poor breathe

Some people said Lagos is no man's land because they have been grabbing waterways and building on it.....why would they not turn around and say it's no man's land....just enter Lagos grab any unused land and build your mansion....well LASG and FHA now say not on our watch

Since this thing has been ongoing, have you seen anyone show his cofo or building approval?

The commissioner even challenged those who claim to have such to show, till date silence.

You need to u derstand there is a lot of illegality. You also need to know the government can NEVER grant building approval over drainage or canal no matter what anyone tells you. You also need to know that some people are granted building approval but encroach into the canal/drainage sand fill and erect more buildings than stated on the building approval.

How on earth did someone build something this massive and didn't have a legitimate building approval. Everybody that has something to do with securing the approval should be looked into. This is a very big damage

Where was the government when all these structures were erected. It shows Lagos State is more interested in milking her citizens than worry about their welfare.

I hope these people get compensated because many won't survive it during this hardship

If the buildings have approved plans the owner has right to approach the court for redress.
