Who approved the building plan?
How much was paid to LASG for the approval?
Why is Tinubu's Bourdillon house, which clearly contravened the original Ikoyi masterplan not yet marked for demolition?

Tinubu owns Lagos. His grandmother Madam Efunroloye Osuntinubu owns Lagos. Go and read the history of Lagos.

If you are not happy about Tinubu owning Lagos, go and die.

Why would LSG wait for such massive structures to be completed before swooping in to demolish it?

It would take nothing less than 6 months on average for such projects to be completed, and they didn't come there to mark it ❌ as to stop work?

Wetin concern me.

This comment is not appropriate, Government doesn't really have the time to chase everyone about, it may interest you to know that most of the developers bribe their way to get documents, and some of them present the wrong survey documents to get approval, We are our problems , whilst the government also has her fault, we should blame people who intentionally do the wrong things to scam unsuspecting nigerians. Go and check if any of the developers of those properties live around that neighborhood

That Tinubu is president today doesn't mean power will remain with Yorubas forever. It's transient and must be administered with caution. Every Nigerian whose grandmother or father is a Nigerian has the fundamental right to own and acquire properties legitimately in any part of Nigeria.

Tinubu is not the first Yoruba man to lead Nigeria. I'm perturbed at this level of hate being spread over the media, and the govt is not doing anything to curb it.

Building on sandfilled swamps is not wise at all.

You can't just be blocking water ways in a coastal city like Lagos unless you want to submerge the whole city.

Its not as if land has finished in Nigeria

If actually they didn't get a government approval before building in those areas then the government should take their action but @ the bolded major elite areas in Lagos like ikoyi , banana island, eko Atlantic city, Lekki are all sandfilled. I witnessed the large land mass that was sandfilled before eko Atlantic city was created. Where did all those water go

It is obvious that a lot of people supporting LASG on this matter have never bought land in Lagos. Most lands bought in Lagos are purchased from Omo oniles or developers. Govt does not sell land to anyone.
It is after you buy land and get your deed of ownership or right of ownership that you reach out to the govt land ministry for CofO or building approval. In the Old Oyo state, what late Bola Ige did was that any new area had masterplans which were easily obtainable from the town planning agency or the LG offices.
So before you purchase land, you go to the LG or town planning to obtain the masterplan at little cost. There's nothing like that in Lagos.
If all those zombies supporting the govt have any sense, they should put pressure on LASG to have a website where all the masterplan for Lagos is uploaded so people can have access to it and will only require the services of a surveyor to interpret it for them.
All this one that after people finish building someone will come and say the place is marked for drainage is just wickedness. I watched the video and i did not see any built drainage. If it is planned, how come such info is not available until almost 50 units of houses are already built?
There is huge corruption in Lagos land usage and allocation. It needs to be swept clean instead of blaming the victims or turning it to a tribal matter.
u spoke well. I still wonder why citizens have little or no access to this vital land information.

How can you build something like this without govt approval??
people dey take risk o
Most seem to be developers. They build, sharply sell to inocent buyers, take their money and walka.
Certainly there is no way they can have approval to build on water ways.

Absolutely these developers are wicked. Most home buyers have no business verifying property since developers are meant to have all that covered.

However, I believe the government is showing some signs of wickedness here. Those drains can still be managed. The depths can be increased to accommodate more water flow. Certainly, penalties should be dished out but total destruction isn't the only option available. Govt should also be considerate. No excuses but some humanity is important too.

The video above was shared by the Lagos State Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, to showing the level of encroachment of waterways and canals by real Estate developers in Lagos.

He wrote on social media,

"A drone footage of the encroachment of the drainage channel on System 156 (fully built) Igbo-Efon to Ikota channel in Lekki. Red arrow indicator showing the extent of encroachment and total blockade and diversion of system 156 Into system 157 by the developers and property owners. All the structures were fully built on the setbacks and alignment which is clearly an alteration of the Drainage Master Plan along the area.

"We have served several contravention notices and enforcement will begin after the expiration of the contravention notices."
This is the reason why Tinubu is so powerful. He still has the control of Lagos government. Every wealthy Nigerian has investment in Lagos. They hardly go against him for the fear. You can't erect buildings of that gravity in Lagos without approval.

This is stupid, its cos no one has taken you lot to the court properly, WHO APPROVED THE BUILDING PLANS?so the Commissioner should clean his house in the 1st place cos If I have a full approval to build there and its on your records, you have no legal ground to demolish my structure cos my survey plans must have shown the exact location of my land and its proximity to the canal.

Our people lack thinking faculty.
Granted the building have been erected.
What are the alternatives? Is there an alternative way to channel the drainage?

Option 1: Find alternative channel and pass the cost to defaulters.
Option 2: If Option 1 doesn't work, then demolish.

But at least present the Options.
