As long as his family didn't relocate with him. He is probably earning more and saving more than he was, when he was in nigeria. A branch manager here in nigeria may earn between #550,000 and #900,000 per month. While his skyscraper cleaning job may earn him £2750 per month. He can live in studio apartment, which may cost £800 per month. Then £500 for his nigeria family upkeep and £450 for his upkeep here in uk. The man may well be saving upto £1k every month. That is #1,500,000 per month in savings . Trust me, he took a good decision.
Some fools that have never had #500,000, are laughing at him, in the comment section. Fools that should be out on the streets protesting against there criminal government.
don't mind those werey

Smart move or not?

I doubt the authenticity of that story. Most of these stories are fabricated. A former bank manager in Nigeria can easily get a management and accounting jobs anywhere in the world.
a skyscraper cleaner needs to have a technical background to operate those equipment. Fake story😆

Fortunately, he's earning more. Though, a more physical job.
2 of my friends too.
1 a bank manager too, in a major location, is doing care job. Currently earns more than he ever did as a bank worker and has more access to a soft life.

The 2nd one worked for an international organization. Big boy life in Naija. Now a factory worker but actually earns more than he ever did. Kids education is more quality than what he was getting in Nigeria, even with the high school fees he was paying. 400k/kid.
As long as they're coping, God speed
Trust me deep inside they are not happy doing care work and factory work, basically two minimum wage jobs. A big step down from their position in NIG. Forget whatever lies they are telling you, deep inside they knew they fvcked up, they are consoling themselves with all that earning more because of exchange rate.

Let him enjoy his cleaning job overseas.

Meanwhile youth unemployment in Nigeria is over 40%, young people are depending on betting and hookup to survive.

He will eventually become a bank manager in the UK or something else. IF he can become a bank manager in NIgeria he has the sense and drive to succeed anywhere. Also, he may be getting paid more as a window cleaner and the UK doesn't have a culture of being ashamed of your work like Nigeria

Shebi na una dey form big boy here as bank manager when no fit clean chair for office he go call office assistant to come clean am. e Reach there now begin clean oyinbo man window with smiles and claiming the money is bigger. Na the bills no come bigger? Or you think na 750k wen him pay for one year rent here he go pay for one month rent there?

Na you dey reason rubbish..

I'll still say it. If you're gainfully employed here no need to japa. Hug tranfamer.

They're not happy but they won't come back home, given the choice.
Instead, they continue to hope for a better offer. Infact, one is still employed as a remote worker with his former org. Yet, they continue to find ways to extend their stay and make it permanent.

We're real with ourselves. A care worker earning 2 times his salary without the loans, with flexible timing? As much as they miss the status they had in Nigeria, they still wont exchange jaapaa for anything

No they can't, managing one mushroom bank isn't a special skill that's in demand worldwide. It's one biochemistry graduate who worked in a bank for 10 years and became manager you want to give an accounting job. undecided

Assuming he is able to safe 1500 Pounds monthly, he has 2.2m monthly. I dont think any bank manager gets that a month

Mister man

Wait till PBAT & his CREW devalue naira to N3000 to a £1, take inflation rate to 50% without commensurate review of wages.

Only then will you know whether it was a smart move or not.

On the other hand, this Bola mandate seems to be favouring the Igbos and every Igbo man is cashing out, spending money like water in the Bola Administration.

My question is: Does it mean this Administration is not favouring the yoruba clownish tribe?

Has Bola turned his back on his people?

How come the people that were supposed to be taught severe lessons are the head teachers now?

Soft life to hard life.

I guess when he got there and saw the pile of bills staring him in the face he had no choice but to grab the next available job.

If you are gainfully employed in naija, you don't need to japa. Japa is someone who has no hope of ever getting a job in Nigeria. He'll appreciate any kind of job he finds there.

How much does an employed person earn in Nigeria?

Let’s say 500k per month, that’s less than 500 dollars.

I’d convert to dollars because most things we buy in Nigeria are imported, phones, cars, clothes etc.

These are things you can easily afford outside the country without sweat. Minimum wage can feed you, pay your rent and still have small change to afford things considered luxury in Nigeria

Now what if you are earning far above minimum wage outside the country. It’s not necessary breaking it down for you but the gap is incomparable. There are many professionals that left and are doing professional jobs outside the country and yes, they are balling big time. Peoples mates are buying Tesla, while someone in Nigeria is earning 500 or 1k dollars per month in Nigeria. When will the person ever afford simple luxury.
Students work during summer outside the country and earn what they haven’t earn working professionally in 10 years in Nigeria.
Think about it
Re: Japa: From Bank Manager To Skyscraper Cleaner by Error401: 3:56pm On Dec 16, 2023
And he would have an average of 20m per annum after tax, he would be 100m richer in 5 years

Available9:

And what will become of him at 60 years over there ? Hahahahah...he will be thinking of coming back home and by that time his colleagues who retired well as bankers in Nigeria would have left him far behind in life
