I'm interested in politics in Nigeria. The better question would be "Does Nigerian Politics allow Women to  participate and run for office?" That is the reason for the lack of interest.

Unfortunately, most Nigerian men are incapable of being good leaders in politics. Over 50 years has gone by and nothing to show for.

Yes Nigerian politics do not discriminate.
There is equal opprtuinity in Nigeria. Female=male in naija politics.
But you got to be 10 step ahead of your male competitor.

Right. They "dont" discriminate, they just make it way more harder for women to participate.

How do they make it harder for women to participate?

Sometimes the political parties charge women lesser fee to participate in the elections.

What does lesser fee have to do categorizing women into a weaker political field.
This is solely based on  my opinion and not based on facts.
Charging lesser fee has nothing to do with it.
Can you vouch for a unpolitical bias in Nigeria?

I was afraid for Obama too. Totally surprised he survived it.

His campaign did a good job by quickly redirecting attention to other things, and that "race speech" didn't hurt at all.

I don't think it is harder for women, some capable women are winning men to become LG chairpersons, Reps, Senators etc.

The lesser fee is just to prove a point that rather than making it harder, the political parties are even making it easier for women compare to men.

Hahaha. . .this is very funny. Some truths, but nevertheless funny and devoid of facts but hypothesis for the most part

PStylish:

@OP,All
I think its genetic. Its just in their make up.I read an article sometime back on women and

testosterone levels.Testosterone is the male hormone. All women are entitled to at least 10%

of this male hormone (testosterone) by right.
However, for some reason I(we) cant explain some women (a good number) have higher levels -

15,20,25% etc.
This explains the Tomboy syndrome. You find these kind of women getting interested in

masculine affairs more often than not. They are the ones who always want to be with the guys

without fear of being laid.Check out their other masculine interests below:

1. They are interested in politics and political discussions. They will go any length to

contest and win an election including sacrificing their marriage and family life.

2. They enjoy football and are passionate about it. They are the 3,4 or 5 ladies in the midst

of 100 guys or so watching an EPL match in a viewing centre.

3. They enjoy playing such brain-tasking games as Chess, Scrabble,Monopoly e.t.c as against

Snake & Ladder, Ludo and the like which majority of ladies enjoy playing.

4. They prefer Movie Magic, MNET Movies e.t.c to Africa Magic

5. You find them in the armed forces, police and other paramilitary outfits.

6. They study male dominated courses like engineering, architecture, estate management, etc.

7. Medically, they have been observed to produce more male than female children. Most end up

with only 1 daughter or none irrespective of the number of children they bear.

8. Physically, they grow beards and moustache like guys.

9. They are found on online forums such as this. The truth is most of the ladies on this forum

are tomboys. An average home based Nigerian lady doesnt have any business coming to an online

forum. To discuss what? with whom? They'd rather hang out with fellow ladies and

discuss(gossip) their issues or watch Africa Magic rather than stay put reading on a PC and

typing responses. Most of the ladies and even guys I have met dont fancy NL like you foreign

ones thats if they have ever heard of it. The reason Nigerians in diaspora like and flock to

this forum is that your immediate environment is hostile and there is absence of

neighbourhoodliness which this forum provides for you guys. Most home based guys on NL like

myself came here for runs(business) and then got interested in the topics on the

frontpage.Infact, the person that told me about this forum is not a Nairalander. Most of the

guys who read and contribute to threads on this forum are not home based and the sex ratio of

this forum is say 7:1 in favour of guys with most of the ladies being foreign based.

Hence, leave the normal ladies with normal testosterone levels alone to mind all their

feminine things/affairs - things that are in tandem with their nature and build up as God

created them.

lol. what makes it trivial? maybe It is just more important to them. I notice the same as well.
women do discuss politics. but mostly on things that matter more to them. and especially among themselves.
that's why with more women working in male dominated work environments, the more politics they will be involved in.

mainstream politics, on the other hand, is a predominantly male sport. I don't see how it changes anybody's life if Tinubu did or did not forge certificate. lol

More female friends than male but would share intimate information with the males. I'm a skirt, blouse and 5inch stiletoes chick o, forget!

Football? Well, I was a mad fan of the Super Eagles till they gave me high blood pressure and basically swore off football ever since. Personally, I don't understand the craze over the premiership, it's just crazy, most especially from Africans! Its colonialism part 2.
Re: Why Do Ladies Shy Away From Politics & Political Discussions? by isalegan2: 8:33pm On Nov 13, 2011
Now I've heard it all.

So, a woman who discusses politics or likes sports, or - HORRORS! - goes into engineering, or plays chess, is abnormal.  lol.  In one breath, we are accused of being hormonally challenged, in the next paragraph, we are really here online discussing Naija affairs because our diasporan existence is unsatisfactory due to the hostile environments in which we find ourselves.  So, which is it?  Are we freaks or are we simply being communal with our brethren spread all over the world?

Desola, you might wanna do something to get these folks off your back.  They're besotted with you, I think.  Maybe, you will choose to dip your toes into the fetid jungle, the ever so "Romantic" and Family Sections.  That is where normal women belong, don't you know.  We can all sit around and hate on other women - "oh the nerve of her. . . posting a picture of her wonky face and 'perfectly round butt'. . .(no homo). . .how dare she be so confident . . ."  grin grin grin

As for me, I'll stick with the Politics section whenever I want.  I have to show something for the years I spent studying that crap.  tongue  Of course, when the facial hair starts forming because of my "high testosterone," I'll be sure to wax it off.  And, if I am destined to have only boys, I will accept my fate there too.  All the more chance of me having a son that will bring the World (football) Cup to Naija nau!  See, all the politics and football talk is worth it after all!  cool grin
