Chibaby98:You don't need a mock interview. just ensure you go with your most recent transcript and i-20. You will be fine. |
GboyegaD:I thought same, but I had to check his post again. He received his i 20. |
Ubah1:I got you. |
Ubah1:Proof of funding is somewhat insignificant to big schools like Harvard. They are more concerned about admitting the best and suitable students. Harvard has the ability to guarantee financial aid for admitted students based on needs assessment, and remember most students at Harvard are from the top 1% family income size. |
Ubah1:Are you seriously asking him to dump Harvard admission for a lower ranked university because of funding? Rather, I think he should contact Harvard financial office for funding opportunities and I'm certain he will be considered, especially if the admission was based on merit. Harvard has the biggest endowment as compared to any university in United State. |
fairheart:After your earlier post, now you want a private message. Iol |

ALEXANDRIA, Va. — A Virginia pastor and his wife have been convicted of defrauding members of their congregation and investors in a Nigerian oil scheme. Fifty-three-year-old Terry Wayne Millender and 57-year-old Brenda Millender were convicted by a federal jury Monday of a $2 million fraud scheme, according to the United States Attorney's office for the Eastern District of Virginia. Terry Millender is the former senior pastor of Victorious Life Church in Alexandria. Prosecutors said the couple recruited investors for companies they said provided small loans to poor people in developing countries and helped broker Nigerian oil deals. Prosecutors said the Millenders used investor money to pay for golf trips, a birthday party, and to help purchase a $1.75 million home. The Millenders are set to be sentenced in March. “It didn't really come as a shock—it was more of a sigh of relief,” congregation member Eric Brown told Fox 5 after the couple’s 2016 arrest. “I asked him like, ‘Hey, that's a nice car.’ He said, ‘Yeah, $100,000 car. If you save up your money, God's going to bless you.’ Come to find out now, it was actually part of our money.” According to the Alexandria Times, the couple will be sentenced on March 30. Co-conspirator Grenetta Wells was convicted of conspiracy to commit wire fraud. She’ll be sentenced Jan. 12. https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/crime/church-pastor-wife-convicted-of-defrauding-congregation-in-nigerian-oil-scheme/ar-BBH1KpT |
George Mason University - Funding Opportunities for Applicants The following faculty are seeking qualified Graduate Assistants to assist in their research efforts. Eligibility is contingent upon admission and enrollment into our PhD in Public Policy program. Naoru Koizumi has various domestic and international (UK, Turkey and India) projects that assess health/medical policies affecting patients with chronic diseases. These projects often involve intensive quantitative analysis requiring the application of techniques from statistics, geography (Geographic Information System (GIS)) and mathematical operations research (OR). The research team, consisting of statisticians, mathematicians, social workers, medical doctors, and computer scientists, wishes to work with PhD students who have good working knowledge of GIS, statistics and/or OR techniques and want to extend their knowledge to effectively analyze health/medical policy topics. The students will be expected to work in a multidisciplinary setting and will get exposure to medical topics and community involvement. We are particularly interested in those who are interested in care provisions for diabetes, end-stage kidney and liver disease patients. Doctoral program applicants with similar interests should contact Dr. Koizumi nkoizumi@gmu.edu prior to their application. John Earle is an empirical micro-economist who uses econometric methods to analyze large databases in order to analyze policy-relevant questions, including program evaluation. His projects include both U.S. and international research, much of the latter in the East European and former Soviet economies. Many of the projects use firm-level data to investigate questions such as the effects of privatization and foreign direct investment, the patterns and determinants of new business start-up and growth, and the dynamics of productivity and business entry and exit. Students working on these projects typically have some previous training in economics and econometrics, but motivated students can remediate those skills while at Mason, and all students have the opportunity to develop them further. Applicants with such interests are encouraged to contact Professor Earle earle@gmu.edu prior to submitting their application. https://schar.gmu.edu/prospective-students/programs/doctorate-programs/ph-d-in-public-policy/funding-opportunities |

Augusta Uwamanzu-Nna of Elmont Memorial High School student has been accepted to all eight Ivy League schools. Uwamanzu-Nna was also accepted to the four additional schools to which she applied. The experience has been surreal, Uwamanzu-Nna said in a press release. “My recent accomplishments reflect the hardworking ideals of the town of Elmont, my supportive parents and my dedicated teachers. I am elated, but most importantly, I am thankful,” she said. Last year, the Long Island high school’s salutatorian Harold Ekeh chose to attend Yale University after having his pick of all eight Ivy League schools. This year, Augusta Uwamanzu-Nna, Elmont’s valedictorian, will face the same decision. Ekeh and Uwamanzu-Nna are both Nigerian. Ekeh was born in Nigeria and came to the United States when he was 8. Uwamanzu-Nna is the daughter of Nigerian immigrants. “Though I was born here in America, I visited Nigeria many times,” Uwamanzu-Nna told CNN affiliate WABC. “And I’ve seen that my cousins don’t have the same opportunities that I have. So definitely, whatever I do, I want to make sure that it has an impact on Nigeria.” Uwamanzu-Nna plans to pursue a science-related major. She was a finalist in the 2016 Intel Science Talent Search for her research on cement that could help prevent underwater oil rigs from rupturing. On Monday, she received an invitation to the White House Science Fair. She is hoping to attend a school where she is able to combine her varied scientific interests, which include biochemistry and environmental studies, she said in the press release. There are no secrets to academic success, she said. Her 101.64 weighted GPA was earned through hard work. “I’ve struggled with numerous classes in the past,” Uwamanzu-Nna told WABC. “But I guess what allowed me to be successful … is my persistence and my tenacity.” Uwamanzu-Nna hasn’t made a final decision on what school she will attend, but with acceptance to 12 schools, she has a tough decision to make.
