Global warming mitigative measures in retrospect . . .but have they stopped their embarassing gas flaring in the Niger Delta region . . . . I don't have a problem with banning selected engines scientifically proven to be a menace to the environment . .but the short notification and implementation period is horrible . . . There need to be ample time provided for adjustment and adaptation processes . .

Abi na that france $100 milla bus transportation money dey make person dey kolo somewhere,  but that was for only Lagos alone na . . . . . Still wondering . .

Okada has the good, the bad & the ugly side

They help in areas difficult to reach with vehicles
They assist during hold-ups
They afford easy employment, just 60k & one makes close to 2k daily on the average
They create values for manufacturers & traders

They send many to orthopedic wards
They create lazy folks
They cause air pollution
Unattractive during rains

Rogues find them handy
Dare-devils value them
They cause traffic accidents
They are abuse, especially in Cross River, where one Okada carries up to 5 ppl @ a time

If we have good alternative that can create good balance, we can say bye

If we had good alternatives, there would have been no need to ban them. Every good thing has a bad side.

Okada,, mmmhm! Okada provides a quick-fix solution to unemployment but it's a future waster for any serious country. Wait a minute, is Nigeria a serious country? A country with arable lands spanning hectares in every community, yet her people lacks good food, her youth are unemployed and without hope for tomorrow. Do you know how many youth will be employed if agriculture is seriously looked into? Okada has deprived many workshop, the apprentices they need to work optimally. Check all around, your plumber can't fix your water without coming back to redo it, neither is your capenter able to put together good furniture that could last 10years. It's so bad that Togolese, Beninose are the good workmen common in Lekki axis. I even saw some Togolese hawking Yogurt in Lagos traffic. I would agree if govt want to ban okada but adequate plan should be put in place to fill the gap left by the ban on okada.

First they came for the communists,
and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a communist.
Then they came for the trade unionists,
and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a trade unionist.
Then they came for the Jews,
and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a Jew.
Then they came for me
and there was no one left to speak out for me.

Another wrong move and a diversionary move by the government I just wonder who their economic engineers are I have said it time and time without number what we need in Nigeria is true federalism shekina! Common sense some times isn't common like simple arithmetic at ketu busstop towards cele area their are more than 9m people staying their and when they are returning from work bike riders are the cheapest and easiest means of transport its not economic viable for buses and taxis and it has employed more then 300 coz you can see their numbers on the aprons that's just one area in abuja all the so called satellite towns have okada rider unions that provide this service to the polise employing more then 150riders lugbe for example their is also kuje gwagwalada, then you talk of abeokuta ilaro, sagamu etc its just crazy they are not just thinking I can't seem to see economically profitable ideas stupid rubish as usual okonjo iweala rubish haven't we done it with our own hands now voted the wrong people I had no shoes, my husband and I rubish not even thinking of creating taxi carriage services and organising mechanaics into villages for repairs the ideas are thousands but you see they are always using us for their research projects in order for them to become professors of mediocrity and like I say they want Nigerians to stop talking about fuel subsidy removal while they remove it Diversionary tactics they say we are very gulliable and they can trample on our very shallow sensibilities

I've always asked why haven't okadas been banned all this while.
A very risky mode of transportation; countless numbers of citizens have lost their lives using such means.
Secondly, they make the roads rowdy as hell and very unsightly.
A very good substitute would be the 'Keke Napep'. I'm sure folks in States where okadas have been banned can attest to this.

Decrease in mortality rates on the roads;

Not much difference in cost of purchasing one from that of an okada;

And very neat environment, not littered by okadas.

When Jonatha was campaigning , he identified with Okada riders claiming he was a common man like them. 6 months after swearing in he bans them.

Its very disappointing that even Law makers in both chambers can not interpret the constitution with regards to the exclusive powers of the presidency.

On a scale of preference for dividends of democracy, is Banning Okada the highest priority for Nigerians at this moment? its very appalling.
Re: Motorcycles (Okadas) Banned Nationally From December 31, 2011? by expert555: 9:24pm On Dec 02, 2011
So what are they going to do with all these Okadas all over the place, are they going to be scrap them or they are going to get compensation of some sorts. Remember when slave trade was abolish in UK the government paid slave owners compensation for every slave they owned while the slave themselves go nothing. I have always said we not civilised. There noting wrong banning okada because they can't regulate the trade. More so all our youth who can't afford to acquire education who are suppose to leaning trade are now driving Okada leaving a vacuum of specialist like mechanics, electricians etc, We were going to the dogs literary  shocked shocked shocked shocked shocked

The I in the BRICS i.e. India still makes use of Okadas. And 9ja is no way near her economically.
How does one navigate various neighbourhoods from the b/stop if 1 doesn't have a car? Trek?
No light, good roads,no good education, low indices of life and all the government thinks about is banning okadas.
Re: Motorcycles (Okadas) Banned Nationally From December 31, 2011? by agabaI23(m): 9:48pm On Dec 02, 2011
False. FG have denied this allegation.
Re: Motorcycles (Okadas) Banned Nationally From December 31, 2011? by Nobody: 9:54pm On Dec 02, 2011
If this is true then it doesn't make any sense - there are more pressing issues needing rational attention from the FedG, instead the FedG meddles with irrelevances. Btw - there are some people who prefer bikes to buses due to its quickness and the absence of someone rubbing skins with you which could be gross -

That is not a good reason or justification to be an Okada dominated transportation nation.

That said economically (quality of life and per capita basis), Nigeria and India are not that different.

That is not the standard we should be aiming for or comparing ourselves with.
