steady986: I disagree with KD, you put him in this Bucks side and they still probably the chip. The other guys I agree. After last season win, AD was talked about as if he would not only be the number 1 option for the Lakers but also the best player in the league, but he simply went the other route and it can be argued that this season he was not a top 10 player |
Re: The NBA Begins by Roland17(m): 1:39pm On Jul 23, 2021 |
Khanben: What huge slump are you talking about? He was in the path until he suffered recurring injuries.. He suffered an injury, how in God’s name is that is fault? Do you have the slightest idea of how vulnerable a player with his physical stats is to injuries? I get it and no longer contesting, Giannis is better at leading a lead to a chip in comparison to AD but using this your narrative is not any different from what mainstream media did after AD went down! He was not overweight, his conditioning was excellent, he tried to play with that injury but made it worse but some how, you are alluding to the same narrative that it was AD’s fault that he is injured. When LeBum picked AD out to join the Lakers, he did not think AD was good enough? Make una stop some of these things. Belittling or devaluing a player because you want to prove the worth of yours is not being objective. What do you mean by he is easily satisfied? According to who? You? Have you watched him in the gym and practice? He was runner up in the DPOY (2019-2020) despite missing a chunk of the season. Come on na! A healthy AD would have put the Suns away in the playoffs! We saw the difference he made when he was on the court. Small time Na una go still dey vex about mainstream media narrative about Giannis but somehow, you are using it against AD, worsestill in a situation he has 0 control over. 2 Likes 1 Share |

joshboo: Who were the anointed favorites to come out of the East? I mean after Harden and Kyrie went down? Who went through the playoffs with the healthiest team especially their core players? |
Re: The NBA Begins by joshboo(m): 3:03pm On Jul 23, 2021 |
Roland17: I tipped the bucks to win the series even with Kyrie and Harden fit. I kuku said it before that AD is way more talented as compared to giannis but AD hasn't shown he has the capacity to lead to team to a championship, this is with his fitness issues aside now,i don't see him as one who pushes himself to that level of wanting to become the best, he thrives more on his natural capabilities. Make I put am like this AD= Messi Giannis = Ronaldo. Both are good but one always plays and seem to want it more which is Giannis. Hopefully Lefraud retires soon or AD goes on to be the number 1option on a team again, we'll see how far he can lead a team. 2 Likes |

Re: The NBA Begins by Khanben: 4:01pm On Jul 23, 2021 |
Roland17: I am not talking about AD's body of work, but I was disappointed about this last season. When a player keeps getting niggling muscle injuries it is usually a question of fitness. Harden came into this season overweight so as to force a trade and for the first time in ages he cannot stay fit. As for AD, news and rumors persist that he does not commit to an off-season fitness program like some of the other elite players do. If he now has a season where he started off flat and never ever got going because of muscular issues what logical conclusion do you expect me to draw. Same thing with Luka he comes in out of shape hoping to play himself into shape, he is just lucky that the mileage on his body is not much, even at that we can still see the injuries at one point or the other. On the flip side is a player like CP3, who has been trying different things to see what works and for the second consecutive season he has been able to finish a season without muscular issues ending it for him. Same with Jokic, committing to a off-season program and for the first time in his career he played all the games and got the MVP as just reward. In the age we are in if a player is doing his utmost best to prepare himself and prevent injuries the news will be out there, but if you don't do that and end up spending the season getting treatment for one thing or the other then IMHO I think it is a justifiable criticism of said player. PS: Embiid just had his best season in the league, and we all heard the news about him taking his diet and offseason workouts more seriously and save for his knee which already has preexisting issues he was by and large fit this year |
Re: The NBA Begins by Khanben: 4:17pm On Jul 23, 2021 |
joshboo: AD is Messi before he started taking care of his body, people tend to forget that Messi used to injury prone until he stared following a strict diet and increasing his off-season workout rather than just going to Argentina to chill. I am not saying if AD follows a diet and an offseason program designed specifically for him he will turn in iron man like lebron, but at least we will know he has done his part. |

Khanben: No be only KD. KD was with MVP calibre Westbrook for several seasons yet nothing to show for it. When his sidekicks went down in the Bucks series it was one superstar apiece on either team. Yet Giannis prevailed. There's no proof whatsoever that KD would have led this Bucks team to a championship. As for your comments on AD, he was injured, and that's just the bottom line. It's unfair to cast judgement on a player when he barely even had a chance to prove himself. |
Re: The NBA Begins by Roland17(m): 5:12pm On Jul 23, 2021 |
Khanben: If I dared debate using rumors/ gossips/ hearsays about anybody, I would immediately be labelled a hater. AD finished the bubble with a damaged shoulder, right knee, tail bone injuries and with a shorter off season, he had to rebound, bounce back for the regular season with no time to heal/ recover. Once again, these are just here says! Baba, instead of reading rumors, why not research AD's summer and offseason work outs? This man works just as hard as anyone I have seen especially for his size. It's summer time now and he is on the grind but just because he does not publicize it like others, he is not acknowledged. Embiid is a 7 footer that has struggled to stay healthy but somehow no one remember it or you can excuse it because of his knee. Show me a picture of AD overweight? A picture of AD fat! You are bringing up Luke and Harden like AD came into the season overweight!!! Come on man!!!! Niggling muscle injuries you say? How is that AD's fault? |

I'm convinced Lebron has many of this guys in his payroll honestly, or he gets this guys to always talk about him trough that Rich Paul guy. Cos which kind stupid talk be this? chic2pimp: Oga you dey land of queens English, you should understand English better. The comparison was between AD and Ugo. Who's talking about achievements here? I'm talking about their talent level and style of play. Who doesn't know Messi is a natural that plays more with finesse as compared to Ronaldo who worked hard built himself to become a machine? Is Messi not more talented than Ronaldo even though my Goat is CR7. |

Re: The NBA Begins by benji93: 8:20pm On Jul 23, 2021 |
You may want to be careful about your take on KD. It's quite complicated. Without Kyrie or James Harden, the Brooklyn Nets weren't good. Just a Superstar and some decent role players. The Bucks on the other hand were a Superstar+ 2 All-stars, with one of those two occasionally dropping superstar numbers. The problem is how to judge the contribution of Kyrie and James Harden. Some would say that although he had one other Superstar of 6.5 of those 7 games, one of them played through recovery, others like yourself would say, nope, he couldn't get it done, half-an-inch of his shoe away from the ECF or not. . We may have to wait till next season. Take it easy on KD abeg. steady986: |
Re: The NBA Begins by benji93: 8:32pm On Jul 23, 2021 |
Accept that it was a shitty comparison and move on. . From the actual post, certainly, talent wasn't the only quality in the picture, even though you make it seem like one. The only way that comaprison can be looked at in the first place is if it's on on who's more talented/who's achieved more at this point. Accept that was moot and move on. Very simple stuffs. . You can certainly tell us AD is better skilled but Giannis has achieved more or leads better without bringing Messi/Ronaldo in. And miss me with the transformer bullshit. Don't run away. joshboo: |

joshboo: I no dey take una peeps fight o. All of una be my padi for this place . Nah I still disagree. In terms of Talent and style of play, a much better comparison in my opinion would have been KD and Giannis. AD in this instance would be like a Neymar imo. Some or should I say many might disagree but I still have KD as the Best player in the League just slightly ahead of Giannis. 1 Like |

Re: The NBA Begins by steady986(m): 10:51pm On Jul 23, 2021 |
benji93: KD is the most gifted offensive player in the league today, but his one dimensional nature was the reason they couldn't beat the Bucks. Imagine if he could impact the game for the Nets on defense just as much as he did on the offensive end. Or in facilitating. I know he got that 10 assists in game 5, but he averaged 5.4 assists for that series. That can't happen if you're the only fit superstar available for your team. That was the time he most needed to get his teammates involved. I agree with Pippen when he said KD lost that series because he was only interested in scoring. |
Re: The NBA Begins by Patrick33(m): 11:00pm On Jul 23, 2021 |
I’ll tip giannis and kd as the best players right now...giannis had one horrific injury and still played and won..without a bonafide superstar..everyone knows KD is a flamethrower with a shovel he’ll bury you..yes the bucks were a toe away from going home but who is destined to win will win..he has everything...giannis can’t shoot yes but the guy works hard and had 17-19 FT % in the finals..i was blown away..dude stepped up big time..I can’t compare giannis with AD..two very different kinds of players..skillset and shooting wise AD is better but speed, defensively and mindset..giannis is better and will certainly guarantee you 30 points plus..AD couldn’t take the pelicans anywhere and he had jrue and prime boogie...I’ll take giannis anyday anytime over AD..oscar robertson today said only AD is capable of guarding giannis..maybe,maybe not..they’ll still face each other more and we’ll see |
