PoliticsPlateau: Stop Blowing Grammar, Arrest Miyetti Allah Leaders – HURIWA Carpets Buh by 8Ebisco(op): 10:43pm On Jun 27, 2018
The Human Rights Writers Association of Nigeria (HURIWA) has asked President Muhammadu Buhari to order the arrest of Miyetti Allah over the killings in Plateau State.

The group urged Buhari to direct the Department of State Services (DSS) and the military to arrest key officials of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Owners Association (MACBAN), including the regional official in North Central Alhaji Danladi Ciroma, who reportedly justified the killings in Plateau state as a revenge for the alleged rustling of 300 cows.

Condemning the decision of the DSS to arrest notable Christian leader in Jos, Pastor Isa Elbuba for speaking up against the Fulani instigated genocide across North Central, HURIWA described as despicable the sectional approach to law enforcement and the selective persecution of Christian leaders and the apparent immunity to kill farmers granted Miyetti Allah Association.

The body said: “Why is the DSS picking and choosing who to arrest when in our very before the chairman of MIYETTI Allah Cattle Owners Association confirmed that the 200 Plateau indigenes were slaughtered because Fulani herdsmen lost 300 cows? What can be more direct circumstantial evidence linking Miyetti Allah Cattle Owners Association to these attacks than this callous, reckless, irresponsible and vicious comments by Danladi Ciroma?”

Describing MACBAN as the most dangerous terrorist group in Nigeria, HURIWA urged the United States government; the United Kingdom; Germany and European Union to declare armed Fulani herdsmen backed by Miyetti Allah Organization as a terrorist group.

“We are shocked that President Buhari has consistently attempted to down play the gravity of the terror campaigns by armed Fulani herdsmen targeting largely Christian minority communities in the North by illogically comparing the casuality figures of the attacks in the Moslem dominated Zamfara state and the Christian dominated North Central. This comparison is not only nebulous but vexatious and toxic and will bring about mutual recriminations and divisions amongst the various ethnic nationalities in Nigeria.

“Most Nigerians we have talked to are in a bottomless pit of shock, trepidation, traumatic panic, that nigeria’s President has become the defender of Miyetti Allah Cattle Owners Association to the detriment of the national security interests of all of Nigeria. This is unconstitutional.

“Why should Mr. President use this sort of offensive comparison and narratives concerning the death tolls recorded in Zamfara vis-à-vis those figures of the deaths in Plateau, Benue and Taraba? The Commander-in-chief of Nigeria’s Armed Forces should be seen ordering the arrest of the sponsors of these spates of blood chilling attacks in which children, toddlers, babies, women, old men/women and the sick are slaughtered by armed Fulani herdsmen. The government must pick up the officials of Miyetti Allah Cattle Owners Association of Nigeria since there must be no sacred cows in the enforcement of the laws.

“The statement credited to President Buhari stating that less people are killed in Plateau and Benue than Zamfara is both insensitive and reprehensible. All lives are precious and sacred and no particular person deserves to be killed.”

HURIWA faulted Buhari’s claim that security has improved and stated that this statement reflects a government that is delusional and living in denial.

The Rights group said at no time since the fratricidal civil war had innocent blood been shed as it had happened under the watch of President Buhari.

HURIWA stated that “as long as President retains the one sided heavy dominance of Hausa/Fulani as heads of all strategic national security forces, the armed fulani killings will continue since Miyetti Allah Cattle Owners Association believe that they can wipe out indigenous people and occupy their lands with the protection of security forces therefore they will even escalate these violent attacks.”

The Ibadan office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, today, 26 June, 2018 arraigned one Iyabo Ruth Okoh and her company, Mega Bolex Quarry Ltd before Hon. Justice A. N. Akintola of the Oyo State High Court sitting in Ibadan, on a 2-count charge bordering on stealing and obtaining money under false pretense.

The journey to the dock for Iyabo Ruth Okoh followed a petition to the Commission alleging that sometimes in March, 2016, she invited the petitioner (name withheld) to invest in her company, Mega Bolex Quarry Ltd as a shareholder and thereafter be issued a share certificate.

According to the petition, after paying the sum of Forty-Three Million, Five Hundred Thousand Naira (N43,500,000.00) only to the defendant through her company’s account, she refused to issue the share certificate nor grant her access to the company’s affairs as earlier agreed and no refund of the money already paid.
The defendants however, pleaded not guilty to the charges preferred against them.

In view of the plea of the defendant, the EFCC’s counsel, Dr. Ben Ubi prayed the court for a trial and for the remand of the first defendant in prison custody. However, counsel to the defendants, Adeyinka Adeyemi informed the court that he has an application seeking the first defendant bail.

He thereafter prayed the court to remand the defendant in the EFCC’s custody. Dr, Ubi however, opposed the defense prayer on the grounds that the proper place of custody after arraignment is the prison.

Justice Akintola however, advised the defendant to at least make some refund of the money involved. He thereafter, adjourned the case to July 2, 2018 for hearing of the bail application. Meanwhile, the defendant shall be remanded at the Federal Prison, Agodi, pending the hearing and determination of her bail application. The Ibadan office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, today, 26 June, 2018 arraigned one Iyabo Ruth Okoh and her company, Mega Bolex Quarry Ltd before Hon. PoliticsEkiti Assembly’s Ex-chief Whip, Akinniyi Quits PDP, Defects To APC by 8Ebisco(op): 4:44pm On Jun 26, 2018
Former Chief Whip of the Ekiti State House of Assembly, Hon. Sunday Akinniyi, on Tuesday quit the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) and joined the All Progressives Congress(APC).

Akinniyi said he decided to decamp to APC due to Governor Ayodele Fayose’s alleged high-handedness and disrespect for top leaders of
the party, thereby causing internal crisis and mass defection of influential members to the opposition.

This came barely a week after a former Deputy Majority Leader of the Assembly, Hon. Ebenezer Alagbada took a similar action.

Addressing journalists in Ado Ekiti at the campaign office of Dr Kayode Fayemi, the candidate of the APC, Akinniyi, who is representing Ikere constituency II, said he got the blessing of critical stakeholders in his constituency before taking the step.

He said he decided to join the campaign of Dr Fayemi, because of the alleged shabby way Fayose had treated Olukere of Ikere, Oba Ganiyu Obasoyin over supremacy battle with the Ogoga of Ikere Ekiti, Oba Adejimi Adu.

Akinniyi accused Fayose of neglecting his constituents in major projects executed in Ikere Ekiti, while also alleging that the governor dribbled the community by reneging on his promise to give Olukere a staff of office.

“Governor Fayose said I should bring Olukere to him, which I did. He promised that he will ask the council of traditional rulers to go to Olukere’s palace and examine the place and make recommendations on how best they can recognize his stool, which they did.

“The Obas turned in their report and Governor Fayose never acted on it. Rather than recognizing Olukere, they set him up for murder and put him in detention and that was why I decided not to support his governorship candidate, Prof Kolapo Olusola.

“All the projects he did in Ikere, including the dualisation were
concentrated in constituency I. I used to raise issues about this and that was why they removed me as the Chief Whip instead of the allegation of docility and sleeping at plenary they leveled against me”, he stated.

Akinniyi alleged that he had severally been humiliated and threatened on the floor of the House by Fayose’s agents just because he raised issues that bordered on the welfare of his people.

He said this accounted for why he was labelled and portrayed as being disloyal and as enemy of the state government.

“Apart from all these, the PDP that sponsored in 2015 had been in constant crises and now irreversibly divided and polarized to the extent that more than half of its members have moved out of the party
in recent times to join APC.

“As a democrat, I cannot continue to remain in a party that had been polarized by internal crises because my continued stay will not allow me to effectively represent my people.

“After due consultations with leaders and people of my constituency, I hereby resign my membership of the PDP due to irreconcilable
factionalisation of the party in Ekiti following the rancorous
governorship primary.

“I view of this, I use this opportunity to announce my defection to APC from effect from today, June 26, 2018,” he said.

“We only have only individual talents but not a team.

“Ahmed Musa is as dangerous as Lionel Messi but you know he has done better than the Barcelona star in Russia 2018,” Lautaro said.

Matias Franco told Newsmen that Musa had good statistics against his country but wished the CSKA Moskva player would not have a good day when the Super Eagles filed out against them.

“Our performance has not been good in this competition but it is not over yet.

“I hope we can have a better performance against Nigeria on Tuesday because it will be sad to leave the World Cup now.

“Our defenders must be weary of Musa’s threat, he is a good player and you remember he scored two goals against us the last time we met,” Franco said.

Augustin Nicolas, believes that his country will beat Nigeria in the last group game on Tuesday in St. Petersburg because they are the better side.

Nicolas boasted that the Argentines would get themselves better in the game against Nigeria even though he admitted that the Super Eagles are a better side.

The Super Eagles will face the Argentines for the fourth time in the World Cup at the St. Petersburg stadium on Tuesday.

Celebrities18-year Old Dies After Doctors Abandon Him To Attend To Their Phones by 8Ebisco(op): 6:39pm On Jun 23, 2018
The family of an 18-year old are mourning his death after their son whose name was simply given as Raphael died due to negligence from medical doctors.

Facebook user, Lawal James, who shared the story online, said;

We never knew it will lead to death. He complained of stomach pain on Monday 18th June 2018. The pain was so severe that he was taken to MRS in Chari Maigumeri barracks Lokoja where he was referred to FMC Lokoja. From Federal Mferred to Honey Gold Clinic for scan. The scanning was done and the result clearly shows that he has Appendicitis(Appendix) which must and should be operated that hour. The doctor confided in Raphael Brother in a telephone conversation that there should be no further delay. On getting back to FMC Lokoja, the result was presented but late Raphael was left by the inexperienced and lackadaisical Doctors to continually scream in pain. I wonder where FMC got these girls and boys called Doctors.

As I stand and watched Raphael rolling on a slim mattress in pain and these so called Doctors walk freely and press their phones with so much careless abandon of a patient whose scan result shows urgency, tears swell on my eyes. They came intermittently to check on late Raphael and keep pressing the area he feels pain asking him how he feels even when it was obvious that the 18 years old boy was in pain. I was furious and almost shout for help but that could further compounded the case of Raphael knowing how these young inexperience Doctors behaves, so I walked aside. Everything they asked for was provided, but they delayed the operation to Tuesday at noon. As at that time it seems too late as late Raphael was wheeled from the theater to Intensive Care Unit and on the Night of Thursday, he gave up the ghost.

Raphael is gone and he is gone to meet his creator. But the question is this, where are those experience Medical Doctors in Federal Medical Center lokoja that the life of innocent people are left in the hands of these modern, exuberant and half baked cosmetic Doctors?

On that night, most of the Doctors on duty are not up to 28 years of age and non of them can claim to have graduated 5 years back. This is not to say there are no caring and intelligent ones among them but it was an unfortunate night that Raphael met these crop of Doctors.
These young Doctors should be attached to experienced consultants or Doctors who has been practicing for over 20 years to learn more before being allowed to handle patients.

Sometimes, when they are faced with serious issues, you see them browsing their phones to get solution. This is not suppose to be. Something urgent should be done. It is Raphael today, who knows who next? It’s painful to see a young boy who just finished WAEC to have died while awaiting result. Besides, where is ethics in medicine profession? Is there any at all? If yes, then it is not applied by some of these young surgeons. A quick overhaul is needed. The pain of loosing someone to death as a result of negligence is severe. James Raphael will be buried on Monday. As a man server in Catholic Church Chari Maigumeri, there will be a Mass wake keep on Sunday at his residence, Otokiti community Lokoja. He will be finally laid to rest on Monday 25th June 2018. Until his death, he graduated from Army day Secondary school Chari Maigumeri barrack Lokoja. He is a dedicated Christian of the Catholic Church. May the soul of James Raphael and other faithful departed rest in peace”

Politics2019 Polls: Don’t Be Used To Settle Political Scores, CJN Warns Judges by 8Ebisco(op): 5:14am On Jun 23, 2018
Ahead of the 2019 general elections, the Chief Justice of Nigeria, CJN, Justice Walter Onnoghen, on Friday, warned Judges not to yield to antics of politicians, saying they should not allow themselves to be used to settle political scores. The CJN, who gave the admonition while swearing-in 12 new Justices of the Court of Appeal, enjoined judges handling election disputes to confine themselves within the dictates of the law and existing judicial precedents.

Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Walter Onnoghen, Justice Onnoghen equally decried growing impunity in the Executive arm of government which he accused of deliberately refusing to allow the judiciary to enjoy fiscal autonomy that was granted to it by the constitution.

He said: “It is now time for politics. Things will be done to raise the temperature of this country within and outside of the political space.

“You have to be very careful not be used as a tool for personal or inter-party struggles. Your responsibility is to look into whatever the facts are and go inside the law to resolve the matter. You should be guided by judicial precedent, particularly in election and election related matters.

“It doesn’t matter who wins or loses. Fortunately, under our law, there can only be one winner. Please let the judiciary remain the last hope of every Nigerian”.

The CJN maintained that contrary to reports in the media, he said the Bill that was recently signed by President Muhammadu Buhari did not provide financial autonomy to the Judiciary is was erroneously implied. According to the CJN, “Section 121 of the Constitution has always been there.

The only amendment was to bring in the state Houses of Assembly. “What has always been the problem is the absence of courage, political will in the Executive arm of government to implement and enforce this provision. That is all. We pray, and will keep on praying that. “Some state governments have do the right thing, others are ready to do.

Those, who are yet to, we encourage them to enforce and implement this provision. “This is because the independence of the Judiciary, particularly its financial independence is the bedrock of democracy itself. We have gone too far to go back. “We are under a democratic dispensation, a constitutional democracy for that matter.

That is why I keep on saying that the rule of law is the solution to all of our problems. “If we operate under the rule of law and are bound by the rule of law, then impunity, which is the bane of our democracy will disappear. “If not for impunity, did the Executive not know that the issue of financial autonomy for the Judiciary is a constitutional provision?” the CJN queried.

Meanwhile, he urged the new appellate court justices to always be guided by the constitution, their oath of office and the code of conduct for judicial officers. The 12 new Justices of the appellate court are Justice Patricia A. Mahmud, Justice Folashade. O. Ojo, Justice Ibrahim. A. Andenyangsto, Justice Gabriel O. Kolawole, Justice Bilkisu B. Aliyu, Justice James G. Abundaga, Justice Ebiowei Tobi, Justice Abubakar S. Umar, Justice Abubakar M. Talba, Justice Abdullahi M. Bayero, Justice Abubakar M. Lamido and Justice Mohammed B. Idris.

Presiding Justice Kemakolam Ojiako made the order in the civil case, HOW/265/2013, between Uwazuruike (plaintiff) and Barr. Chigozie Iheama and others over a land dispute.

Ruling on the motion on notice filed on July 6, 2017, by C.K. Okorie, counsel to the defendant, praying the court to commit the plaintiff/contemnor to prison for disobeying the order of the court, Ojiako ruled that, “The plaintiff, Chief Raphael Uwazuruike, is hereby found guilty of contempt/disobedience to the said order of court made on April 2, 2017.

“That the plaintiff, Chief Raphael Uwazuruike, is hereby committed/sentenced to prison custody and shall be so detained for a period of one month from the date of his commitment to prison.”

Reacting for the first time since the verdict, BIM in a press statement signed by the Biafra Director of Information, Mazi Chris Mocha, described the judge’s verdict as a kangaroo ruling.

“The members of BIM and MASSOB are solidly behind our leader, Chief Ralph Uwazuruike and his counsel, Barr. Emmanuel Chukwuka. We urge the presiding Judge, Justice Kemakolam Ojiako, to follow the normal legal practice and stay proceedings in the matter.

“We see it as a kangaroo ruling and only intended to impress the Imo State Governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha, and cause disaffection among the Igbo populace,” Mocha said.

PoliticsShehu Sani Faults Buhari Govt Over Plans To Shut Border by 8Ebisco(op): 7:05pm On Jun 19, 2018
Shehu Sani, Senator representing Kaduna Central at the National Assembly on Tuesday faulted Federal Government’s decision to shut down Nigeria’s borders.

The Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Audu Ogbe had said land border between Nigeria and a neighbouring country will be shut in a few days to avoid smuggling of foreign rice into the country.

Ogbeh made the disclosure on Monday in Abuja, while speaking with youths in a leadership clinic under the auspices of Guardians of the Nation International (GOTNI).

The Minister, who did not mention the particular country and border, said shutting the borders had become necessary to encourage local production and sustain the economy of the country.

Reacting to the disclosure, Sani said the decision was wrong because the country’s security agencies should be able to deal with smuggling at the borders.

In a tweet, the lawmaker wrote: “It’s wrong to shut down the land borders ‘because of rice smuggling’.

“Our layers of security operatives should be able to combat or prevent smuggling without suffocating legitimate businesses and stifling border communities.”

PoliticsWe Never Asked Presidential Aspirants To Pay N12million Before They Can Pick Up by 8Ebisco(op): 11:17pm On Jun 18, 2018
The Peoples Democratic Party has debunked claims that it asked presidential aspirants to pay N12million to pick up forms.

This was made via a statement signed by its National Organising Secretary, Austin Akobundu slamming a publication by a national newspaper titled ‘PDP list guidelines for presidential aspirants, demands N12m for forms.

“We wish to state categorically that the Party is still in the process of drawing up the guidelines for its presidential primary election. It is therefore misleading to claim that the party has ‘listed its guidelines’ not to talk of the cost of nomination forms.

At the appropriate time, the proposals will be presented to NEC of the Party which will approve as it deems fit. Only then can one say that it has the guidelines for the 2018 presidential primary election” Akobundu said

CelebritiesDagrin Inspired Me To Be A Rapper – Mz Kiss by 8Ebisco(op): 7:11am On Jun 18, 2018
Rapper Mz Kiss in a new interview with Sunday Scoop has shared a bit about herself and her music background.

According to the OWO META crooner, late rapper Dagrin inspired her to join the rap game.

Read excerpts from her interview;

Music

I started rapping when I met my first producer, Soplain, in Bariga, Lagos. Bariga made me who I am today because the people there inspired me. I started dreaming of being a rapper when I heard the late Dagrin’s songs. I loved his style and I thought I could do it too and when I tried, it sounded good. I was later advised to stick to rap music since we already had many singers. Music is life for me; it is what I know how to do best.

Parents’ support

My father died in 2002 but my mother has been supportive and she is happy with what I do. My mum used to say she wanted me to be like Beyoncé; so, it wasn’t a big deal when I said I wanted to be a musician. She supported me with prayers and the little money she had. I am now living the dream of my mother.

Lyrics

When you listen to my music, it is either I am talking about things on the streets or about myself. I also try to make people understand what I can do. As a rapper from the streets, you must talk about things happening there. You have to act those things and make them look real. The street is aggressive; we have a lot of people on the streets who are hustling to get their daily bread. If you are from the streets, you cannot be quiet. You have to let out all the street elements inside you.

Breakthrough

I am signed to Capital Hill, a record company owned by Clarence Peters. However, I am still not satisfied with where I am; I want more. Though the love has been overwhelming, I don’t want to get too comfortable.

Olamide

If comparing me with Olamide brings money to my pocket, it is okay and I have no problem with that. At the moment, I am after making good music and getting it across to people. Olamide is my colleague and I am a fan too. Though he lived in Bariga, Lagos, at some point too, our paths didn’t cross. Though I am aware that people compare me with Olamide but I don’t think I sound like him. I am myself and my style is unique to me.

Current projects

I recently released a song in which I featured Slimcase. It is titled Merule. The song is currently getting massive airplay; so, I’m working on the video. I am also working on building my brand image as well as releasing an album.

Other interests

I sew! If I had not pursued a career in music, I would have been a fashion designer or a presenter. While growing up, I wanted to be a doctor or lawyer as I didn’t know other professions. Right now, I am just after my music. I am giving everything to music and ready to take it all the way.

Challenges

I have been through a lot. Though I have been lucky, the biggest challenge an artiste could face is getting people to believe in him or her. Making people familiar with your music is hard. At times, you would spend a lot of resources without achieving anything.

Dislikes

I don’t like people who tell lies. Even though everybody lies at some point, it should not be gross. I also don’t like body odour.

Regrets

I don’t have regrets. But I always felt I would have grown bigger in the music industry if I had started singing professionally at a tender age.

Role models

While growing up, I admired Beyoncé and wanted to be like her. As a matter of fact, she is still my role model because she is full of energy. I also listen to Lil Wayne; he is crazy about pop. I listen to a bit of J. Cole, Kanye West and Drake too.

Ideal man

He must be humble, understanding and good looking. He must love what I do because I love what I do. Also, he must appreciate me and have a good sense of humour because I am very energetic.

CelebritiesMan Kills Himself Testing Stab-proof Shirt by 8Ebisco(op): 10:51pm On Jun 17, 2018
A 22 year-old man in the United Kingdom fatally stabbed himself in the chest testing a supposedly stab-proof vest he was wearing.

According to an inquest, Jordan Easton was in the kitchen at one of his friend’s parents on August 23 last year – just five days after his 22nd birthday – when he turned a knife on himself to demonstrate the “stab-proof” nature of his vest,Daily Independent reports.

He suffered a chest stab wound, and died at the University Hospital of North Tees, in Stockton.

Mr Easton was rushed to hospital, said Teesside assistant coroner, Karin Welsh, but “despite the best efforts of the medical professionals, they were unable to save him.” Although his injuries were “self-inflicted,” there was no evidence Mr Easton intended to harm himself.

Jordan’s devastated mum Alison Price told the inquest she found it “hard to believe the concept that Jordan would consciously do that”.

She said:

“It’s more possible if it was bravado, showing off in front of lads, but where a mother and a young girl were, it’s out of character for him. I can’t absorb it.”

CrimeEvans Abandoned As Lawyer Withdraws From Kidnap Cases by 8Ebisco(op): 8:25am On Jun 16, 2018
Suspected billionaire kidnap kingpin, Chukwudumeme Onwuamadike, a.k.a Evans, no longer have a lawyer for his criminal and civil matters.

Evans’ former counsel, Olukoya Ogungbeje, Friday withdrew his representation, citing personal reasons.

Ogungbeje, who represented Evans in his multiple kidnapping, murder and attempted murder trials at the Lagos High Court and two civil suits at the Federal High Court in Lagos, cited “personal reasons” for his decision.

In a June 13 letter made available to The Nation, the lawyer claimed that he and his colleagues in the matter had suffered threats to their lives.
He said:

“For the avoidance of doubt, we wish to state categorically that we have fought a good fight this far despite repeated and sustained threats to my life and my defence lawyers.

“I dare say we have no regrets whatsoever having conducted the criminal charges involving our client this far.

“For the sake of history, we have been able to enrich the basic principles of our criminal jurisprudence, especially the principle premised on ‘An accused person being presumed innocent until the contrary is proved’ no matter the public opinion and criticism”.

Ogungbeje also claimed that his team kept the Lagos State Prosecution team on its toes in the art of forensic, proper and thorough investigation and prosecution of the accused persons.

Evans was arrested on June 10, 2017 in his Magodo, Lagos mansion.

He is currently facing five criminal charges before three Lagos High Court judges, Justice Hakeem Oshodi, Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo and Justice Adedayo Akintoye.

PoliticsRamadan Fast: I Am Healthier Now – Buhari by 8Ebisco(op): 10:22pm On Jun 15, 2018
PRESIDENT Muhammadu Buhari has said his participation in this year’s Ramadan Fast has improved his health more than it was initially.

Mr Buhari stated this on Friday at his official residence in the Presidential Villa, Abuja when he played host to a delegation of federal capital territory (FCT) led by Mohammed Bello, the minister of FCT.

The president who said he could not participate in last year’s fast because he was away on health vacation noted that he did not want the situation to repeat itself this year hence his involvement this year.

In 2017, Buhari spent over 150 days in London, treating an undisclosed ailment. In 2018, He has also visited his London doctors on three known occasions.

“I’m very grateful to the ministers and church leadership that came to say happy Eid-Filtri to those of us that have been fasting,” he said.

“A lot of people asked me if on health grounds I could fast. I refused not to because I know the value in fasting, I cannot miss it once I can do it.

“Last year I didn’t because I was on health vacation but this year I have done it and I thank God because it has helped me to be healthier and also gave me the time that I need to attend to national issues.”

He told his guests to appeal to those in their constituencies to shun individualism and sectionalism.

He reiterated his position that Nigeria belongs to all, hence the need to salvage it together.

“Please, in your constituencies, emphasise what I said about 30 years ago. We don’t have another country except Nigeria we may as well remain here and salvage it together, there is nothing else we can do.

“Even those who left the country are now trying to come back because they are not wanted out there. I wish that all the resources they had then, had been deployed here… So, thank you very much and please, persuade your constituencies to work much harder away from individualism and sectionalism,” he said.

PoliticsEid-el-fitri: Governors Ambode, Ahmed, Ajimobi Preach Unity In Nigeria by 8Ebisco(op): 7:49am On Jun 15, 2018
As Muslims end the Ramadan fast, Gov. Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo State, Akinwunmi Ambode of Lagos and Abdulfatah Ahmed of Kwara have urged the faithful to pray for the unity and peaceful co-existence among all ethnic groups in the country

The Lagos State governor,Akinwunmi Ambode in his Eid-el-Fitri message, signed by Mr. Habib Aruna, his Chief Press Secretary, said it was only by embracing peace, unity, and fairness that Nigerians could begin a rebirth, urging them to imbibe the tenets of love, tolerance, forgiveness and brotherhood which the period of the holy month exemplifies.

According to him, Nigeria could overcome the numerous challenges confronting her with brotherly love to one another.

He said: “As we celebrate this auspicious occasion of the end of the holy month of Ramadan, therefore, let us renew our faith in our nation and implore the Almighty God to restore to us those values that place high premium on human life, love for our country, love for our neighbour and sharing even as we ventilate our faith in the unity of our dear country and the possibility of her taking her proper place in the comity of nations.

“The spirit of Eid-el-Fitri resonate around the virtues of love and respect not just for God, but also for fellow humans, it is only in the spirit of brotherly love and dedication to national service that Nigerians could build the desired nation.

“In the last three years, despite the seeming economic challenges, the nation had witnessed the appreciable level of development even as we hope that more could be achieved if all hands are on deck.”

Consequently, Governor Ajimobi in a statement signed by his Special Adviser on Communication and Strategy Bolaji Tunji encouraged Muslims to imbibe the teachings of the Prophet Muhammed on the essence of Ramadan fast.

He congratulated Muslims on the successful completion of the month-long fast and urged them to shun divisive tendencies capable of drawing back the country’s wheel of progress.

“Since Ramadan fasting symbolises spiritual rejuvenation, it is expected that our Muslim brothers and sisters will continue to adhere to the teachings of Prophet Muhammed.

“Besides, it is important for us to move closer to Allah, even after the Eid-el-Fitr celebrations and eschew things that are against His will and commandment.

“We should not be tempted to go back to sinful habits.

“Leaders in all the three tiers of government also deserve to be assisted with prayers so that they can lead us aright and move the country forward in all ramifications,’’ he said.

Also, Governor Ahmed in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Abdulwahab Oba, advised Muslims in Kwara to remain connected to the virtues of love, compassion and generosity.

Ahmed urged the people of the state to be law-abiding and pray for offa robbery victims even as they celebrate Eid-el-Fitri.

“As we mark the end of the holy month of Ramadan, let’s remember and pray for our brothers and sisters who were unfortunate victims of the Offa robbery.

“Let’s remember their families, friends and associates in our prayers and generosity,’’ he noted.

The governor also urged Nigerians to pray for a peaceful political transition in 2019.

He stressed the need for unity and commitment by all stakeholders as his administration worked to ensure equitable distribution of infrastructure and amenities across the state.

PoliticsBuhari’s Declaration Of June 12 As Public Holiday Of No Effect – Malami by 8Ebisco(op): 10:02am On Jun 14, 2018
The Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, has said President Muhammmadu Buhari‘s declaration of June 12 as a public holiday from next year currently has no effect

Malami on Wednesday explained that June 12 could not be a public holiday until the Public Holiday Act is amended by the National Assembly.

The minister, in a chat with State House correspondents, spoke on whether the declaration did not contravene the Public Holiday Act.

He said: “As it relates to public holidays, there is truly a Public Holiday Act but it is about the process of amendment. At any rate, the Act can be amended and the process of amendment has been put in place.

“So, when the Act has been fully amended, the declaration of the President will come into effect. It is a declaration of intention, a declaration of desire and that will eventually be given effect with the act of amendment of the existing law.”

On whether Buhari could give a posthumous award to any Nigerian without the approval of the Council of State, Malami said: “I think we need to make distinctions between the Nigeria National Merit Award Act and the Nigerian National Honours Act.

“They are two distinct and different applicable laws as far as National honours awards are concerned.

“You have the National Merit Award on the strength of which we have the law of the governing board comes into effect and then as it relates to the National Honours Act, the Board does not have any relevance in terms of processing of the Honours.

“For then, above all, we equally have in existence precedence as it relates to the award of posthumous Honours. I can recall that a former head of state, General Murtala Mohammed was equally honoured posthumously amongst others.”

Politics2019: INEC Planning To Rig Election For PDP In Abia – APC Guber Aspirant, Ukauwa by 8Ebisco(op): 9:04pm On Jun 13, 2018
A governorship aspirant on the platform of the All Progressives Congress in Abia State, Ambassador Chidike Ukauwa has alleged of plans by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to rig the forthcoming 2019 general election in favour of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the state.

Ukauwa equally alleged that the electoral umpire had been abetting the PDP-led government to carry out political campaigns despite ban placed on early campaigns.

The APC chieftain, who spoke to newsmen on Wednesday in Umuahia, asked the INEC to sanction the ruling PDP in the state for allegedly violating the nation’s electoral law.

The APC chieftain said, the ruling PDP in the state has continued to engage in series of political campaigns and rallies, despite ban on earlier campaigns by INEC.

“PDP in Abia state has continued to contraven the electoral laws by holding series of political campaigns despite ban on early campaigning by INEC.

“Go round the state, you will see PDP aspirants’ billboards and banners adorned in streets of Umuahia and Aba. Just recently, they gathered at Old Isi Gate campaigning for the reelection of Governor Okezie Ikpeazu.

“And the body charged to conduct and sanction erring political parties, INEC, has also continued to keep silent on this issue. Their silence to carry out sanction against the ruling PDP is showing that INEC is abetting PDP to violate the electoral rules.

“Again, this also shows that INEC and PDP have planned to rig the 2019 general election”, he claimed.

FashionNever Allow People Take Away Your Joy – Plus-sized Bride Who Overcame Hateful Re by 8Ebisco(op): 8:04pm On Jun 11, 2018
A newly wed bride, Virtuous Joy has taken to her social media to narrate how she overcame all the hateful words that were said to her simply because of her size.

Joy shared this motivational piece on her social media, read below:

I remember being so happy and excited about my wedding day and how beautiful I felt. When my husband first saw me in my wedding attire he couldn’t take his eyes off of me. He couldn’t stop talking about how beautiful and amazing I looked.. it was such a magical moment for the both of us.

Once we posted our pictures for our family and friends. So many people were so happy for us! Then there were those folks that wanted to let me know just how much a fat girl did not deserve this kind of happiness so they tried their hardest to take it away.

People will try to take away your joy. They will try to disturb your peace. They will do everything in their power to make you feel miserable and worthless. DO. NOT. LET. THEM! For so long I let people dictate my every move and decisions! I let what people thought or said about me effect how I viewed myself. At one point I felt like I didn’t deserve to feel beautiful. I didn’t deserve to be loved. I didn’t deserve to pursue my dreams. Oh, how wrong I was!

I’m so happy I’m constantly being reminded of who God says I am! I am fearfully and wonderfully made!

Sis, PURUSE YOUR DREAMS. WRITE THAT BOOK. START THAT BUSINESS and continue to know and remind yourself that you are loved, you are so important, you are BEAUTIFUL in so many ways, and you are needed!

Let today be the day that you stop letting people who don’t matter hold you back!
