Claims by the Federal Government that electricity supply in the country has improved tremendously might be false after all, as angry youths in Niger State continued to protest what they termed, ‘worst electricity supply situation ever in the history of the state.’ Regional staff of the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) have gone into hiding following fears of attacks by angry youths who have threatened to raze the company’s office over alleged non-performance in the past two years. The youths in their hundreds staged protests, blocking the only road from Minna linking Shiroro at Mutum-Daya, Gwada and She` junctions over what they termed ‘worst’ situation in the history of Niger State. They alleged that citizens were being subjected to constant power outage. The youths of the two separate groups ‘Shiroro Youths’ and the other ‘Shiroro Youths Movement,’ for hours barricaded major roads causing huge traffic buildups at several points to the dams to vent their frustrations against what they termed ‘government’s undue silence while they suffer sleepless nights under the scorching hot weather due to blackouts’. Abdulsalam Abdul Paida, leader of the Shiroro Youths Movement, said the company had recently, for no genuine reason or reasons, increased the electricity tariffs from N1, 500 to N3, 000 even when power supply to the areas has reduced abysmally. “Unfortunate there is no respite to the near blackout being witnessed in a state where the three major electricity generating dams; Kainji, Jebba and Shiroro are domiciled. All we are seeing monthly is habitual crazy billings by the AEDC for services not provided.” Abdul Paida expressed worry over the astronomical increase in cost of electricity supply was not only unreasonable but an assault on citizens of the council area on whose land the electricity power was being generated from, (the Shiroro hydroelectric power station.) Despite several representations to the company, the leader of one of the groups expressed disappointment that the AEDC management showed no concern, a development that he said caused severe bad blood between youths in the affected councils and the company. Also in Minna, the youth group known as, ‘Youths Lead Nigeria’, staged another stand-off against, continuous epileptic power supply to the state capital with the situation getting worse by the day and therefore called for change of the distribution company for a more efficient distribution of electricity. Mohammed Sa’idu Etsu, the leader of the Minna group in their submission called on Mr. Babatunde Fashola, the Minister of Power, Works and Housing, and the National Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) management to delist the AEDC from being the company in charge of power supply to Niger State. The angry youths warned that enough was enough of the ‘flimsy and lame excuses’ from the AEDC and insisted that the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company has proved that it has no capacity nor the wherewithal to be in the business of distributing electricity to the state. While passing a no confidence vote on the AEDC, the youths urged the Minister to allow another power distribution company possibly with enough financial muscles and willingness to do what was proper to take over from the company as electricity provider to the state and the business region in general. Only last week, another group, Youths Lead Nigeria had threatened to re-group against the AEDC following worsening supply of electricity to the state capital and its environs with supply decreasing unimaginably. In January this year, the AEDC had assured the state Governor Abubarkar Sani Bello of improved power supply from six and nine to 12 hours per day, but the assurances according to investigations by our correspondent were short-lived. Meanwhile, police has taking over security at the AEDC Regional office along U. K. Bell Arts Theatre, Minna as all the management and staff of the AEDC have gone into hiding for fears of attacks by angry customers. Our correspondent was barred from entering the company premises by stern looking policemen as she made her way into the premises to ascertain the reasons why electricity supply situation has worsened in recent times. Both the Regional Manager of the AEDC, Engineer Yahaya Mohammed Jere and the Head of Corporate Communication, Alhaji Abdullahi Mohammed also declined comments when our correspondent called their mobile telephone. http://www.mcebisco.com.ng/2018/03/aedc-staff-go-into-hiding-as-youths.html

Justice Binta Nyako of the Federal High Court, Abuja, has yet again ordered the senator representing Abia South at the National Assembly, Enyinnaya Abaribe, and two others who stood as sureties for the leader of Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, to produce him in court on June 26. The two other sureties are Tochukwu Uchendu and Emmanuel Shallom Ben, a Jewish high priest. Justice Nyako had in a bench ruling on October 10, 2017, given the three sureties options of either producing Kanu in court, forfeiting the bail bond they signed, or go to jail if the IPOB leader failed to appear in court to face his trial. The sureties had signed a bail bond of N100 million each to secure the release of Kanu on bail on April 25, 2017. However, since the invasion of Kanu’s home in Abia State in September 2017, during a military operation code named, ‘Operation Python Dance II’, the embattled IPOB leader has not been seen. The sureties and Kanu’s lawyer, Ifeanyi Ejiofor, have accused the Nigerian army of being responsible for Kanu’s disappearance, and have asked them to produce him in court. When Kanu did not show up in court on February 20, 2018, Justice Nyako ordered Senator Abaribe and the two other sureties to produce him in court or forfeit the bail bond, or risk jail. At a resumed sitting on Wednesday, Abaribe, Uchendu, and the Jewish high priest were in court but Kanu was yet conspicuously absent. Making submissions, the prosecution counsel, Shuiabu Labaran, told the court that the business of the day was for the three sureties to show cause why they should not forfeit the bail bond or jailed for their failure to produce Kanu in court for him to face prosecution. After Labaran’s submission, Chukwuma Umeh (SAN), counsel to Abaribe; Franklin Chude, representing Tochukwu Uchendu (2nd surety), and Alloy Ejimakor, representing Emmanuel Shallom Ben (3rd surety), all opposed the prosecution’s application for them to show cause. Abaribe’s lawyer, in urging the court to discountenance the submission of the Federal Government’s lawyer, contended that the enroll order made on February 20, 2018, was not served on the sureties. “My lord, the ruling of your lordship has not been served on us, and an order having not been served on a party cannot be used against the party,” Umeh argued. Umeh insisted that the court must make an enroll order, which must be served on the sureties before they could be asked to show cause why they should not forfeit their bail bond or go to jail. Counsel to the two other sureties all aligned themselves with the submission of Umeh. Responding, the prosecution counsel argued that “justice cannot be sacrificed on the altar of technicality”. Labaran pointed out that Abaribe’s lawyer had been in the matter since 2017, pursuant to which the court had given the three sureties time to “show cause”. The prosecution disclosed that Umeh had filed an application as to why Abaribe could not produce Kanu in court. On his part, the Federal Government’s lawyer said he had joined issues with Umeh sequel to the application. “We have joined issues with the 1st surety on his application, but his sudden U-turn this afternoon is belated,” Labaran stated. He, therefore, urged Justice Nyako to discountenance the line of argument of the sureties. Having listened to all parties, the presiding judge made an enroll order that the sureties must produce Kanu in court, or forfeit the bail bond, or in the alternative, risk jail. The court held that the prosecution must serve the enroll order on the sureties. The matter was adjourned to June 26 for the sureties to come and show cause why they should not forfeit the bail bond or go to jail. http://www.mcebisco.com.ng/2018/03/court-orders-abaribe-others-to-produce.html

Major stakeholders in the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), who were at the party’s National Executive Council (NEC) meeting in Abuja on Tuesday, were shocked when President Muhammadu Buhari rejected the decision to extend the tenure of the executive members of the party by one year. President Buhari was at the meeting where the tenure extension decision was first taken. But on Tuesday he described the decision to extend the tenure of the officials as unconstitutional, noting that the action was a violation of Nigeria’s and APC’s constitutions. DAILY INDEPENDENT had on Monday, March 26, reported that the controversial tenure extension would be the dominant issue at the NEC meeting even though Bolaji Abdullahi, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, insisted that it was sub judice and would not be discussed. Majority of APC members had, on February 27, 2018, voted to extend the life of the present national executive committee of the party by one year when its current term elapses in June. In a reasonable manner, the president told the leaders at the meeting that the party could not afford to jettison its constitution and expect peace to reign. He called for a strict adherence to party and constitutional provisions in the interest of the party. He said after seeking legal advice from the Ministry of Justice, he came to the conclusion that their action of February 27, 2018, contravened the constitutions of the party and Nigeria. He further noted that though he was part of the resolution to extend the tenure, he had, however, realised that their action may ruin the chances of the party in the 2019 general elections. Under the circumstances, he advised the national officers to resign at the expiration of their tenure to pave way for a fresh round of elections into party leadership positions. The president said: “I am delighted to once again welcome you to this National Executive Committee meeting of our great party. “As we usually do, I hope we will take the opportunity of this gathering to resolve outstanding issues and consolidate our plans towards making APC the strongest defender of the interests of our people. “In particular, I think it is important for me to speak quickly on the contentious issue of the tenure of our national and state executive officers. “As we all know, a motion was moved at the last National Executive Committee meeting of February 27, 2018, to the effect that when the tenure of the current executives expires in June this year, they should be allowed to continue for one year. “This motion was duly carried by a majority of members present at the last NEC meeting, even though some of our party members have since spoken up very vehemently against it. Others have even taken the matter to court. “On my own part, I have taken some time to review and seek advice on the resolution. “And what I found is that it contravenes both our party’s constitution and the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. “While the APC constitution, in Article 17(1) and 13.2(B) limits the tenure of elected officers to four years, renewable once by another election, the 1999 constitution of Nigeria (as amended), in section 223, also prescribes periodic elections for party executives at regular intervals, which must not exceed four years. “Furthermore, Article 31 of our party constitution provides that any principal officer wishing to re-contest or contest for another post, must resign from his current post at least one month before the election. “In this circumstance, what is expected of us is to conduct fresh elections, once the tenure of the current executives approaches its end. “A caretaker committee cannot remedy this situation, and cannot validly act in place of elected officers. “Furthermore, I think if we deviate from the constitutional provisions, we might be endangering the fortunes of our party. “If the tenure of our party executives can be legally faulted, then it means that any nominations and primary elections that they may conduct, can also be faulted. “This is not to talk of divisions that would arise, and is already arising within the party, when some of our members feel that they are being denied the right to aspire to executive positions, or that internal democracy is not at play within the party. “I am, therefore, of the firm view that it is better to follow strictly the dictates of our party and national constitutions, rather than put APC and its activities at grave risk. “Fortunately, we have already approved a timetable for the holding of congresses and elections. “I think these should be allowed to go forward and all efforts should now be geared towards making them a great success. “Once again, I welcome you all to this meeting with the hope that we will promote, always, the highest interest of the party and of our people.” The president’s position reportedly sent a shockwave through party circles. A party source told DAILY INDEPENDENT that governors loyal to Oyegun, such as Governor Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State and Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State looked dejected throughout the meeting, following the president’s speech. “We were all shocked. Nobody believed the president could come up with that position because one, it was not part of the agenda of the meeting and, two, the matter is in court. We never expected he will speak against tenure extension. “I noticed the shock on the face of Governors Rotimi Akeredolu and Yahaya Bello and others loyal to the national chairman. “They couldn’t challenge the president but, from the look of things, they won’t be comfortable if an election is to be held, because their favoured state chairmen may not return and they may not be in the good books of the new national chairman. “Definitely, this is going to be a game changer,” he said. In a chat with DAILY INDEPENDENT, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, said the president’s rejection notwithstanding, the party’s position on the tenure extension still stands. Abdullahi, who also briefed journalists on the outcome of the meeting, said the members had agreed that a small technical committee be set up to look into the matter and advise the party on the way forward. According to him, “Members of NEC thanked the president for his graciousness for saying look, this is not okay; we had a situation because we recall that after the last NEC and this decision was taken, some members felt aggrieved and went to court. “You know that any issue that goes to court is sub judice. Then that also presented its own complications, so the NEC decided to set up a small team that will advise the party on the way forward. “At the moment, there is no decision taken, so the position of NEC still stands from the last meeting. There is a technical committee at the moment that is looking at it. That position may change tomorrow but as it is today that is the position of NEC. “The president’s position has not changed the position of NEC. NEC has not reversed itself on the tenure extension. “The decision of the NEC on the one-year tenure extension still stands. “The president is not NEC. The NEC will have to reverse itself, but right now, it has not done that. So, the tenure extension still stands,” Abdullahi said. Concerning the report of the True Federalism Committee of the party, the spokesman explained that the NEC agreed that a technical committee between the National Assembly, the executive, and the party be set up to look at the proposals point by point as quickly as possible, to enable the president to transmit to the National Assembly for action. On constitution amendments, he noted that observations that were made would be incorporated into the draft constitution, adding that there was no motion taken to adopt the amended constitution. “We believe that those amendments and proposals should first of all be updated in the amended constitution before a motion is taken for its adoption,” Abdullahi stated. President Muhammadu Buhari is expected to attend the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting coming up on Tuesday. APC Governors elected on the party’s platform, members of its Board of Trustee and National Working Committee (NWC) members among others, are also expected to attend the meeting. This was disclosed by Bolaji Abdullahi, the APC National Publicity Secretary on Monday. On what would be discussed at the meeting, Abdullahi said “It is going to be a routine NEC meeting which is a final leg of the meeting that was held last month. “If you recall after the NEC meeting last, month, I told you that two issues were outstanding and that members asked for more time to study those issues. “These are the issues of constitutional amendment and the True Federalism committee report. “These are the two key items on the agenda for tomorrow’s NEC meeting.” It would be recalled that the APC NEC at its meeting of Feb. 26, extended the tenure of the party`s National Working Committee (NEC) and other executive members across all levels by one year, starting from June. Some party members, who were not comfortable with it, had taken the party to court over the issue. Before the first wedding anniversary the marriage was already heading to doom as on 21st of October 2016, ten days to the first anniversary her husband had walked away from the marriage. J’odie said that at that point the rumors of her scatters marriage was flying around, she couldn’t accept it although it was true; she never wanted a divorce and she couldn’t believe she was going to be divorced. She refused stating the main reason why the marriage only ended up in a divorce as she insisted it was between two families and it is better it remains private than take it to the public eye. J’odie also went on to advise many young ladies who are desperately and beckoning to be married that they shouldn’t just jump into any marriage. Look well and pray about it even when many people feel Nigerian are just too spiritual, saying that when you just jump into marriage you may not know what is really in stock for you at that home; “take your time to know the family you are going into” was one of her words. http://www.mcebisco.com.ng/2018/03/jodie-finally-opens-up-on-her-divorce.html

Nigerian instagram big boy Husspuppi has come back with his popular controversial life on social media. The Gucci lover had formerly called out all Nigerian artiste to stop wearing and patronizing fake products saying that has they do not like their music being pirated so does this designers company. According to him when he made this statement many Nigerians called him out saying a lot of stuff, but when daddy freeze made the same point many Nigerian applauded him saying it was the right thing he was saying. Because of this, Hushpuppi has now branded Nigerian that they are all hypocrites. This is what he wrote; “Yesterday I learnt something, I learnt sometimes when I put out a message and people react to it negatively, it doesn’t mean the message I was passing is wrong, it doesn’t mean I passed it wrongly, it’s just unfortunate that “my people”, who I am passing the message across to are bunch of hypocrites. Because around 6months ago when I passed the same message about not patronizing fakes if you don’t want your own craft to be pirated too, the whole Nigeria came against me, one singer with bad hair line who is a lover of patronizing fake watches, clothes n shoes even suggested I should be investigated loool. Another one jumped in the studio to make a diss track to telli person to stop wearing gucci which is a good thing lol, another artist jumped in my dm to send me death threats in the name of cultism (which I filed a complaint to the police and some necessary ears that are good at taking revenges just incase, already) lol. Just because I said what was obviously TRUE and now they are all silent as if they didn’t see the same topic trending , anyways fast forward to yesterday, the same message was flying around this time from a different mouth, and Nigerians be like, true talk, that’s right, they should stop buying fakes and many support the motion and I took time to read several comments and I was amazed when I saw some popular IG figure bashing artists and was against the same thing they supporting just 6months ago, I was shaking my head. This has rebuilt my confidence, to never mind the reaction of people either good or bad, if I know what I’m doing or saying is right, I will never be scared to pass it on, who wants to take it should take it and who doesn’t should leave it but I won’t be silent no more because of y’all hypocrisy.” He wrote. http://www.mcebisco.com.ng/2018/03/hushpuppi-blasts-nigerians-saying-they.html

Nigerian rapper M.I Abaga has released a list of his best 5 rappers of all times and top 5 at the moment also but some notable names are missing. Olamide, phyno, vector and others are considered to be one of the best rappers in Nigeria, but that does not seem so to M.I. He was asked by one of his follower to mention five people he considers to be his best when it comes to rap. In response to a question asked by one of his fans on Twitter, Mr. Incredible named “Mode 9, Proverbs (of South Africa), Jesse Jaggz, Freestyle and Ghost” as his all-time greatest African rappers. However, his list of 5 hottest African rappers right now include; Nasty C, Cassper Nyovest, Poe (of Mavin Records), Ghost and Khaligraph Jones (of Kenya). The rapper sidelined most of the notable names in the rap business in Nigeria and opted for the young dudes. Recently M.I was in support of Cassper Nyovest who said that Nigerian hip-hop is local, M.I who issued that Nigerian rappers need to go fix up their lives if they want to make it big. http://www.mcebisco.com.ng/2018/03/olamide-vector-and-other-rappers-not.html

Falling in love is like coming home. Your worries are quieted and you feel protected in your partner’s arms. Here are the Five signs you’ve found the man you want to spend the rest of your life with: 1. You don’t need to be “on” in front of him: Good days and bad days, he understands who you are and doesn’t expect you to be anyone but yourself. In his eyes, you’re special by just being you. There’s no pretending. 2. Your happiness is his happiness, and vice versa: You know he’s the one because he’s good to you in ways that you’ve never thought possible. He wants what’s best for you, even if it comes at a cost to him. 3. Even at the end of a really bad day, all you want is to be with him: No matter what kind of crummy mood you’re in, you’d rather be with him than be alone, for you’re better with him than without him. 4. You love more than you fight: It never feels good to fight because you care too much about him to hurt him. The compromise always seems like the best option because you both can be happy. 5. He accepts you as you are: You’re messier, louder and maybe less funny, but he loves you for it. He makes you feel good about all those things you might dislike about yourself. http://www.mcebisco.com.ng/2018/03/5-signs-youve-found-man-you-should-make.html

When 73 people were killed in Benue State in early January, the Minister of Defence, Mansur Dan-Ali, briefed State House correspondents, after a meeting of the security chiefs with President Muhammadu Buhari, and gave the government position on the reasons for the continuous attacks by the herdsmen. He said: “Whatever crisis that happened at any time, there has to be remote and immediate causes. What are the remote causes of this farmer-herder crisis? Since Independence, we know there used to be a route which these cattle rearers use. “Cattle rearers are all over the nation. You go to Bayelsa, you see them. You go to Ogun, you see them. If those routes are blocked, what happens? These people are Nigerians. It’s just like you going to block river or shoreline. Does that make sense to you? These are the remote causes. But what are the immediate causes? It is the grazing law. These people are Nigerians. We must learn to live together with each other. That is basic. Communities and other people must learn how to accept foreigners within their enclave. Finish!” Before his weird and callous justification of the herdsmen’s killings by the government, the Governor of Plateau, Simon Lalong, had said that he advised his Benue State counterpart, Samuel Ortom, not to push for the passage of the anti-grazing law. He said that he advised him to go for ranching, explaining that the relative peace he had in Plateau was achieved through accommodating all people. Ironically, in the first week of March 2018, 50 people were killed in Plateau State, with 25 killed last Tuesday alone in Bassa Local Government Area. The cattle owners association known as Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria had also blamed the killings in Benue on the anti-grazing bill that was then just passed into law. The Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, had also blamed the killings on the anti-grazing law. However, people of Benue refuted the claim, arguing that even before the anti-grazing law was passed, hundreds of people had been repeatedly killed by herdsmen in Agatu and other parts of Benue. Other people also noted that in many states like Enugu, Zamfara, Ondo, where people had been massacred on many occasions, there was no anti-grazing law. But the icing on the cake was their attack on Kogi State last week. In February 2018, the Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, had donated 15,000 hectares of land to the Federal Government to be used as “cattle colony”. Bello has always tried to create the impression that he is not an enemy of the herdsmen, their interest and well-being and, by extension, President Muhammadu Buhari. Last week, the herdsmen struck in his state, killing 32 people, although the Governor later said that only 12 were killed. The question that has kept gnawing at the mind of most people is: “What exactly do these herdsmen want?” If they attacked states that refused to provide grazing routes for them as well as states that have banned open grazing, why did they attack states that have provided grazing “colonies” or “ranches”? What is their grouse? Are they angry at those who oppose them and also those who support them? Are they indirectly telling Governor Bello that they are not satisfied with the size of land he gave them? Or are they telling him that they want the entire state as their territory? Are they saying that they do not want to be restricted at all, that they want to roam freely as they wish? In February this year, Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje, condemned the persistent attacks in the North-Central states and urged all the herdsmen in different parts of Nigeria to relocate to Kano, where there are enough facilities and grazing space to accommodate them and protect them from cattle rustling and diseases. The advice has been ignored while the killings have continued. Are these killings executed to have access to space for cattle to graze freely or are they carried out as an attempt at ethnic cleansing or religious expansionism? Ethnic cleansing and religious expansionism have been denied by some people, with the argument that many of the herdsmen are not even Muslims and do not care about owning any land. But those who do the killings are not the herdsmen who go about with their cows. Rather the killers are fighters assembled from different states, when the need arises, to attack a given community and return to their bases once the attack is done. Those who can determine the reason for the attacks are those who sponsor the attacks and approve where an attack should take place. Last week also, Nobel laureate, Professor Wole Soyinka, criticised the way President Buhari has handled the persistent killings carried out by herdsmen, urging him to declare them a terror group. Soyinka and all those who continue to speak out should be praised for not keeping quiet or justifying evil. But they should realise that Buhari will NEVER declare herdsmen a terror group, even if they kill one thousand people every day. The reason is simple: Buhari sees the herdsmen as “his people” that need to be protected. His words and actions show that he believes that the herdsmen are poor victims who are merely fighting for their survival in a hostile environment. The words of his Defence Minister, Inspector General of Police, and other lieutenants on the issue clearly depict that mindset. They all believe that the herdsmen are fighting to survive in a wicked and intolerant environment that wishes them dead. To them, what is taking place is not a massacre but ordinary clashes between farmers and herdsmen, and the only solution to it is for farmers to accept the herdsmen as their brothers, tolerate them as compatriots and live in peace with them as good neighbours. End of story! That is why the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria can publicly issue threats and statements that show that they are aware of the killings and endorse them. Yet they are not arrested. Rather they are pacified and invited for discussions. If the herdsmen were of a different ethnic region and religion, Buhari would have been vicious on them and would have crushed them. It is one of the reasons that show that Buhari does not have the capacity to treat all parts of Nigeria equally. Other Presidents and military dictators before him could mask their preference for their ethnic region and religion, but Buhari has never hidden his. Patriots are differentiated by their ability to rise above all ethnic, religious, sexual, and political considerations, put the nation first and take care of the security and welfare of the people. States which think that once they create “grazing colonies” for herdsmen, they would achieve peace are merely joking. The killings by herdsmen go beyond grazing space for cattle. Only time will tell what the real motive of the killers are. http://www.mcebisco.com.ng/2018/03/what-exactly-do-killer-herdsmen-want.html

National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, has declared that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has no presidential candidate to match President Muhammadu Buhari in the 2019 general elections. He described the leadership of the PDP as a bunch of dreamers, insisting that the opposition party poses no threat to his party in the 2019 presidential election. Oyegun, who made the declaration in an exclusive interview with New Telegraph yesterday, declared that Buhari and the ruling APC are not losing any sleep over PDP ahead of the 2019 polls. The APC national chairman maintained that Buhari remains the most credible uniting force in Nigeria at the moment, as well as the best choice, not only for the APC in 2019, but the nation in general. He said PDP presidential aspirants like former Vice President Atiku Abubakar; former Jigawa State governor, Alhaji Sule Lamido; ex-governor of Kaduna State and immediate past national caretaker chairman of the party, Senator Ahmed Makarfi and Gombe State governor, Ibrahim Dankwambo, pose no threats to Buhari in 2019. Oyegun said the PDP presidential aspirants are just struggling for relevance within the PDP. His words: “As at today, Buhari remains the most credible uniting force in the Nigerian nation. We are not saying that there are no difficulties, there are, but tell me somebody else who has the kind of status, the kind of presence and the kind of symbolism that Buhari has? If you tell me, maybe, we can start comparing them. “I am not talking about the party alone, but the entire nation. Tell me, who you can compare electorally and in terms of what he reflects and represents for the nation? Go to my village and mention Dankwambo; they will ask you from which planet is he from. Let me not treat him special from any of the above you mentioned. Atiku has been with us, he is a significant political force in this nation, no question about that. Let me not say anything more than that because he is somebody I like as a person, but we are talking about uniting the country So, we need somebody who stands for what the people want to see the nation become. That is the beauty of President Buhari. “Everybody is saying that they have the capacity to defeat President Buhari, when it is clear that they are enjoying their dreams. What else do you expect people, who are hopeful to say? They shouldn’t bother to compare themselves to President Buhari. They should just say that they command the loyalty of the vast majority of Nigerian people. These are people who are not known, probably outside their local governments or their states. They are just struggling for relevance within the PDP.” He, therefore, dismissed the boast by the PDP National Chairman, Prince Uche Secondus, that his party will sack the President in the next elections. His words: “They are entitled to live in fool’s paradise; they are entitled to be dreaming dreams, but they are still far from being a serious contender in 2019. They are not together yet; they don’t have a product to sell yet; their past is still much recent. “So, talking about even being a force and a really credible contender is out of the question, not to talk of displacing the APC. We have the product and we have rebuilt and solidified the base of the Nigerian economy. “The country is picking up both politically and economically and results, of course, are gradually manifesting and finally, we trust the people of this country, we trust their memory and we believe that they are much wiser than the PDP elite seems to think. “Yes, we have not provided everything they want, but they still know and appreciate the tremendous job the President has done in rebuilding the base of the Nigerian economy and in fact, basically salvaging the polity.” When reminded of the PDP’s claim that Buhari has failed Nigerians, Oyegun told New Telegraph that: “What do you expect them to say? You see, they are underestimating the Nigerian voters, very badly underestimating the Nigerian voters. Yes, there is dif-ficulty in the land, but the Nigerian voters know that the President has applied himself to rebuilding a totally fractured polity – economically and politically. “In the process, there is a bit of anguish, there is no question about that, but repairing a badly damaged house involves a lot of painful process and that is what we have gone through, but we are coming out of it. “Agriculture is now the backbone of the Nigerian economy, infrastructure is coming to a situation where it can carry development, both power and rail transportation and whatever it is. The path to greatness for this greatness of this country is already in place and the results are going to be unfolding in the subsequent months.” Further insisting that the PDP will not be a contender in 2019, the APC national chairman said while the main opposition party is still battling to come out of crisis, the ruling party is building a base for a new Nigeria. He said: “They are not a factor yet, there are still factions in the party and they are still busy putting themselves together. Meanwhile, we are busy working for the people; we are busy putting the economy back together; we are busy consolidating agriculture; we are busy stabilizing electricity generation and distribution; we are busy creating a totally new developmental oriented infrastructure, both rail and roads. We are at work; President Buhari is at work, building the base for a new Nigeria. “Even the PDP is already split into two. So, which PDP are you talking about; the PDP/SDP (Social Democratic Party) or the ancient and crumbling PDP?” Oyegun added that there is no way his party will lose sleep over the boast by Secondus that PDP will unseat President Buhari in 2019. According to him, the name of the opposition party’s national chairman shows that his party (PDP) will continue to play second fiddle to the APC. “Look at his name; they chose a man, who as admitted that he is second to us. Secondus means ‘second to us.’ So, they are permanently second to APC. His name admits to that, so leave him (Secondus) because his confidence is like the joy of a dreamer,” he said. http://www.mcebisco.com.ng/2018/03/2019-election-pdp-has-no-candidate-to.html
