We gonna start from building your resume. Where do you currently stay? Is there are faculty in your school doing research in your area? Although I bet it's hard to see a Naija prof. during research.

Took my gre today I'm so ashamed to put ma results up.

I got 149V I47Q i don't know what I got for AWA although i think that was my best section.

I'm so annoyed $190 down the drain and i refuse to rewrite as I think its time-consuming doing something I probably wouldn't do again in my life - learning the surface area of a cylinder grrrrrr.

TBH I was hoping for 150 on both sections because I[b]'m terrible with these complicated vocabularies and I'm not an arithmetic/mental maths person - i.e I use calculator for everything coupled with the time pressure I just crumbled like a wet fish. I knew I failed because the first one Verbal was sooo hard and the gre test is section adaptive (dammit). It felt like I was doing a 10-hour exam by the end of the issue-task I was tired (imagine!), ok I'm making excuses now [/b]

Anyways I've sent those scores off and hope the two universities that I'm applying to overlook these dreadful scores. I shall be trading-in my Barrons book on Amazon and getting something to cheer me up.

Mphil requires at least a 2:1. Really, you have no deficiency. You only have to be lucky.

Salutations to big bros in the house! I was recently contacted by one of my lecturers requesting me to be her research assistant.She is a senior lecturer but not yet a Prof. Can i later tender that as one of my research experiences when seeking for PG admission?
Or must the research lecturer be a Prof?

Let me tell you people, GRE score does not matter that much. Nigeria is backward in Education because student focus too much on scores i.e. theory instead of research or putting those knowledge into Practice.

Professors today in the US look into your research experience more than anything, since they will want you to be their research assistant. Take me for example:

Undergraduate Study: Aeronautics & Astronautics Engineering at the University of Washington, Seattle.
Research experience: 2 yrs research in Computational Fluid Mechanic under a faculty
Course GPA: 3.25
GRE: [/b]Q730, V450, AW 3.0

However, despite all these poor grade above, I got an early offer for [b]Doctorate Program in Petroleum Engineering from professors in this schools: LSU, Stanford, and TAMU pleading to be my PhD supervisor.

Do you why they want me? It is all because of my research experience i.e. my CFD skills. They were all promising to provide me with Full Funding and even help secure[b] Fellowship[/b] for me if I should consent to their offers. I was feeling like a boss at those instants  . I remember saying "you know what, let me see what other schools have for me before I make my final decision" 

My fellow Nigerians, If you want to get in graduate in the state especially, your best bet is to hook yourself with some kind of research pertaining to the area of interest. GRE scores or GPA is just to make up the requirement. Graduate school means you're research oriented; and the only way is to show proof of your research experience.

I know a friend who got into CalTech doctorate program with 2.50 GPA just because he has  a published paper. Yeah, silly right! You should believe that because it's all that counts.
