Though they give you an added advantage, they are not compulsory. Most schools require a standardised test like GRE or GMAT but if you do your research well, a few schools do not. Some schools also waive it if you meet some specific requirement eg if you have passed the MCAT or all steps of the MLE for example. Having said this, it is still recommended that you write these tests for scholarship consideration and to satisfy the VOs at the embassy. Some schools also require TOEFL from intl students. I think IELTS is mostly UK.

TOEFL is 175 American dollars and its equivalent is N27,000. I don't know of GMAT but won't be more than N27,000, so $175 also.However it could be N40,000 when an agent comes into the play.

I really dunno how much the exams cost as i wrote the GRE instead.
@ferdimako however says each costs about $175 equivalent to about N27000.
Try googling 'GMAT nigeria' for possible test centres, cost n payment methods.

SAT registration is #14,175. Register at GIEVA organisation marina victoria island lagos. I did my SAT last month november and dt was the amount I paid. Don't let any agent charge you high ooo. It's just #14,175 naira.. Chikena.. Cheers..

They charge too high. An agent charged my friend 50k for SAT. mehnn I felt like crying. Many agents are criminals. They rip you off.. All those agent register students at GIEVA at a low rate and they will charge students 10 times the amount they registered. So go through GIEVA. That's the Genuine and the only registered and official SAT registration centre. It's just #14,175 naira.. Chikena.. Cheers..

@talkD, you definately need SAT for scholarship.. No school in US will give you scholarship without SAT, you even need it also when applying for Visa.

Secondly, it's not all about just taking the SAT, it's about studying hard for it and passing it. It took me 7 months to prepare hard for the SAT and thank God my efforts were not in vain. I hope u r prepared. If you have a high score with good GPA, you will probably have a high amount of scholarship.

@talkD, if you are going for undergraduate studies, you definately need SAT for scholarship.. No school in US will give you scholarship without SAT, you even need it also when applying for Visa.

And let me remind you on this, the FULL meaning of SAT is "Scholarship Aptitiude Test"

Went for my second interview today in lagos and the black american guy interviewed me but got denied again. I'm so sad and even got depressed ever than before.I wasn't nervous today and I gave all my answers without fear. Anyway here is how it all went:-

Me: To Study
Vo: Major?
Me: Computer Science
Vo: Did you apply to other schools?
Me: Yes and I named them
Vo: Why those schools?
Me: Told him
Vo: Why XYZ uni?
Me: An academic excellence in a christ centered environment and the skool information technology department provide world class information resources,telecommunications,computing,networking tools and services to students to facilate learning and research.
Vo: Did you write SAT?
Me: Sir (didn't hear what he asked)?

Me: No because it wasn't part of the school admission requirement

Me: I repeated myself again
Vo: how come u get admitted?
Me: told him I got admitted because I have a good O'level results and High School Transcript.

@seedord247, I don't think it makes sense for one to tell the VO that jamb denied you twice. That is the last thing anyone who is going for interview should say. This will raise an eyebrow that maybe the person is dull or not serious in his academics.. Instead try other possibles ideas.. I luv the idea you gave about computer schools. That makes sense to me... That's much better than telling the VO that you were denied Jamb twice..

I would have suggested you take another Gre but your interview date is very close, which is next week, so you just have one possible option which is what I stated above.

Make sure you inform the VO that you registered for the exam oooo. And if possible you can print out the email you received from ETS about the cancelation of the GRE exam and take it along with you as proof.. Let the VO believe you. Because seeing is believing... Wish you Success. God's favour shall shower on you in jesus name. Amen. Cheers..
